Soni scripts a period love story for Alia

Soni Razdan has been working on a script for years based on a book which she doesn't want to name at the moment. "It's a powerful and usual love story set in the India of the '40s," she reveals.
Now for the interesting twist: Soni believes that her daughter Alia Bhatt, who has been getting plenty of compliments for her performance in her recently released film, Highway, would be ideal to play the female lead. "She's a perfect fit for this period romance," Soni says, adding that Alia knows about this script. Soni will be directing the film.
However, the film with Alia is not likely to roll soon because nine years after Nazar, Soni will return to direction this year with another period love story. Buzz is that this other film, to be produced by Pooja Bhatt's Fisheye Network and Dino Morea's Clockwork Films, is based on the infamous Nanavati murder case of 1959 where naval officer KM Nanavati was tried for the murder of Prem Ahuja, his wife's lover. Soni refuses to confirm this. "All I can say is that it's based on a true story and an exciting relationship,"
The film with Alia will take off after she finishes with this one. "It will definitely not happen this year. Maybe I'll put it on floors towards the end of 2015," she says, adding with a laugh. "Alia has to give her nod and the dates before we can roll!"
