Its neither Elijah or Rebakahs fault, both of the parents failed on Klaus, these two has been with him no matter what despite of the hatred so Klaus should also learn to take responsibilities.

Elijah did this just to keep all his family members safe as it known fact that if Klaus would have daggerd Rebekah then he would have not removed the dagger but Elijah being a family man will do it...
