I am seeing a lot of people saying Balwant is so annoying, worse than Bansuri, get him out of here, he is fool, etc. He may have made a mistake or two but why do ya'll hate him so much? He is a very good guy. At least better than every one of his family members, even Baldev, though I do adore Baldev's character. He is a really sweet old man and I don't know why he is getting so much hate for just slapping Baldev.

Because He never had the guts to stand up to his wife and take care of his children. If he had once scolded Bansuri the way he scolds Baldev.. She would have given her children better upbringing, but instead he dances on her song. He didn't say one word to Gunjan for what she did but he never misses the chance to slap Baldev.

Because he differentiates between his kids like bansuri. baldev was slapped in front of the entire pind for engaging in a brawl to stop a guy from manhandling his sister. And he is time and again insulted by his father in front of everyone. But his daughter gets scoldings only in private from him. Spineless bansuri for me. Not vicious. Not a sexist. But still differentiates between kids

Its not like Bansuri will even listen to him.

I don't think Balwant is worse than Bansuri...he is a sweet man...but...and there is a big but here...

he needs to pipe up!!! That woman walks all over him, he's blind to the truth of his kids, he is horrible to Baldev and humiliates him in public (he's a grown man for crying out loud..so enough with the slaps!), and he sucks as a Sarpanch...the Ratan-Kartar marriage nonsense was sooo dumb I used to yell at the screen...and he's been absent in Gunjan's life too...why he didn't insist she go to school is beyond me!

I don't hate him, but I do want to reach into my tv screen and shake him sometimes!

And I will vouch that Balwant is not worse than Bansuri as a person. Just really more dumber than her. And has some really bad sense of terrible judgement. As a parent and sarpanch.

Balwant's intentions may be genuine but he does not have backbone and cannot take a stand. He lets his wife run her mouth off and doesn't have the guts to tell her when she is wrong. Bansuri has Balwant wrapped around her little finger.

Also, Balwant has not been a good father. Not only has he turned a blind eye to Bansuri's mistreatment of Gunjan during her childhood, he seems to have neglected Baldev and has never really made an effort to connect with his son.

Lol I didn't see anyone's name while reading the comments, just read a lot of comments against Balwant and everyone hating him and posted the points here .
