I've been meaning to say this from early on. I don't really blame her for her greediness and her lack of tact.
Suraiya gets her son married a second time, but then proceeds to treat his second wife like an unwanted person of the family, as lesser than the family, and clearly favors Nafeesa (and Nafeesa smartly plays her cards with Suraiya). Can Shazia really be blamed for wanting to gain more of a foothold in the family? Sure, she's being tactless and greedy, and no way would Zain ever marry her sister. But still, I understand part of her her motivation.

She TRAPPED Fahad..
She clearly said it herself "If I can trap a father of 2 kids then Gauhar can easily marry Zain coz his is an unwanted marriage"

If she herself feels she trapped him then what can anyone else do..

Besides...If Suraiya had CHOSEN a second wife for Fahad, I hardly think it wudve been someone like Shazia...maybe Shazia trapped Fahad and Suraiya gave in for watever reasons...We dont know what happened...

No part of me understands her greediness or why she behaves the way she does. Her character is extremely annoying and I'm sorry but i don't see anything positive in her. Suraiya's attitude is not driving her to this extent; it's her greed.

She's always been like this; in fact her whole family has so there's no way I would sympathise with her. She doesn't deserve it not after admitting she trapped Fahad.

Did Fahad have no choice and thoughts of his own? Unless she drugged him, then it takes two to tango.

And Osman didn't want the marriage, we saw him blaming Suraiya for it. Which means that if Suraiya hadn't agreed to the marriage, then it probably wouldn't have happened.

If Shazia got pregnant and used that to get married, then Osman wouldn't have pointed to Suraiya in the early episodes.

My point is not that Shazia's thoughts are correct. But she is constantly looked down on and belittled by Suraiya despite the fact that Suraiya is glad to have Saif. Suraiya treats her more like a concubine of Fahad's than a wife. Hypocritical since we were told in the early episodes Suraiya was the one who wanted the marriage, and also because Suraiya is damn glad to have the son. So at least treat the mother with some respect. Maybe if she's treated better, then Shazia would not feel so much need to resort to her greedy plans.

But then Suraiya doesnt seem happy to have Shaziya in the house...
She is clearly disgusted with Shaziya and even accused her of stealing...

There must be a strong reason why Suraiya agreed to get Fahad married to Shaziya...we will soon know what situations were created...

Fahad is clearly spineless...anyone can make him dance to their tunes...

But that's my point. In the earlier episodes, what we were shown was that Fahad married due to Suraiya. Osman himself blamed her for the mess. So whatever reason Suraiya had, it's hypocritical of her to have pushed for the marriage--one which Osman didn't agree with--and then treat Shazia like some unwanted thing.

Suraiya accused Shazia of stealing and didn't even want to apologize, but rather tricked and manipulated her way out of it. (Yes, I know she used Shazia's own greed, but still it says a lot of Suraiya too that she wouldn't apologize for her mistake.)

If the makers now want to put it all on Shazia and Suraia someone who had no choice but to agree to Fahad/Shazia marriage, okay. But that's not how it was presented in the beginning. (Also I am not completely comfortable with it either, that they choose to portray Shazia as the cunning woman who "traps men.")

So what I've gathered from the episodes is that Shazia was Fahad's secretary and lured him into falling for her despite the fact that she knew he was a married man and a father of 2 (this is something she has said herself).
But like you said, it was Suraiya who gave the go ahead for Fahad to marry her because apparently he had not gotten a male heir from Nafeesa. This was a bit confusing...I mean it's not like Nafeesa couldn't have more children...or could she not?

I do agree with you that Shazia is ill treated by Suraiya ... with the just barely there tolerance lined with a dash of contempt...but it is because she understands what Shazia is about...greed.

See it's not like Shazia became greedy because she is treated ill...she is that way...she forced her way into this family...and so it's not entirely surprising that she is treated as she is.

That's not to say that the family members should not treat her better...perhaps if they did, it would melt away her insecurities and then she may mend her ways.

But then that's not likely to happen, because you have some very strong personalities in the Abdullah household, especially when it comes to Suraiya begum. For her it's her way or the highway. Aaliya is nothing like Shazia...but because she was forced upon Zain and the family...Suraiya will treat her the same if not worse then Shazia.

Thanks for the explanation of what may have happened. I agree with all you've said I don't think the family made her greedy. She's always been portrayed as greedy and so is her family.

And yeah, I think it's possible Nafeesa couldn't have any more children.

Fahad is such a puppet. I am actually excited about the trio so I hope the creatives explore their story. Imagine Fahd finally taking a stand and both the women accepting each other. This show is amazing. I love the equation between every character, very well detailed.
