JAI HO! 🥳 Where do I start... I actually really liked the story line. It was a sweet message for the masses but the direction or the way the story was executed was just plain crap. Nevertheless, something totally weird happened in this cinema experience - I found myself amongst people originally from India and Pakistan in the cinema. They were speaking in hindi and before we entered into the cinema hall, they took photos with the poster outside. And someone said: "Bhai ki nayi picture!" and "Bahut faadu hain." So as you can imagine - there was a heck of a lot of claps and whistles when Salman entered and also whenever he roared and when he took his shirt off in the climax. And oddly, even when Daisy was shown - well one guy whistled.
I am surprised though that this film didn't catch on as it was supposed to and underperformed. It's a good film. It's not Wanted or Dabangg or Ek Tha Tiger but it's certainly better than Dabangg 2 and Ready. 👍🏼 Yeah, I get the "3 logo ki madat karna" dialogue was used a lot in the film but that was to show the chain Jai started but the saying did come off a bit kiddish when it was being repeated - I know this because for the first few times people were clapping when that dialogue was being said and when then after second half - not the same reaction. I like action but this one was just too much action. 😕
Coming to my man - he was great. In top form to say the least. His performance was quite endearing. And well, he's just too hot in action. Yeah, I may be biased but come on, he didn't suck. I may be the only person who was actually impressed with Daisy. I did go in there with zero expectations but the girl isn't bad at all. And on the big screen, she looks good. Her comedy with Kabir was too awesome - people were roaring with laughter each time Pinky was said which caused me to laugh. I will give zordaaar taaliyas to Tabu as well as Genelia - awesome work. The rest of the supporting cast - well, really, I mean the impact probably would have been better if they used random people in those roles instead of casting so many past actors - but it's not like they weren't needed. Ashmit needs to find another line of work. Yash was okay. I liked Pulkit. Bruna was beautiful. Rest didn't really matter. 😆
Music - yupp, wasn't up to the mark. Took me a while this time to get into the groove with the songs. Whereas when I saw Tere Mast Mast Do Nain - It instantly clicked. But I still liked the songs - Tere Naina, First Class, Tumko Toh Aana Hi Tha and Title song. Did I mention that people were whistling during Photocopy? (No joke guys, I was totally surprised people were doing that in South African cinemas 😲 but I joined in anyways 😳).
I think this movie deserves to do well. I get that there was lots of action, emotional scenes seemed rushed and lots of that one dialogue and one knows they can't change the world just by maar peet but that's not what the film is saying to the public - you need to help in any which way you can - which Jai does (Genelia, girl on the road, baby etc.). I would give this film 3.5/5 - 2 stars solely for Salman who literally carries this film. And may his good looks never fade. 👍🏼
The cinema was about 75-80% full. A poor-made, well-intentioned film I would say with endearing performances by Salman, Tabu and Genelia. And lots of people loved the movie or loved Salman in it. I know this because there were claps at the end of the film. Last words - I am a Salman Khan fan so nothing was going to stop me as well as others from flocking into the cinema. I got one thing to say: Open your heart and spread your love, to the world coz we're all the same, Let there be peace... Let there be faith... Aa mere sang kaho... Jai Jai jai jai jai jai jai jai jai jai jai jai jai jai.. JAI HO! Because I love you till the end, Salman. I'll stand by Jai Ho however it ends up ❤️
