CHAPTER - 30
Sameer and Indira both were just so upset over everything that happened in the breakfast table.Though Sameer left for office,but still he could not concentrate on his work.Everytime,Simi's words were roaming inside his mind and he was getting more and more insecure and possessive about Maahi.He was thinking what to do about Maahi as he just didn't want her to drag to the court and fight with Indira for her custody and just didn't want to ruin her life and childhood.At home,in Indira's bedroom too,her condition was not much better than Sameer.Her state of mind was just like Sameer and she too was concerned about Maahi just like her father.Simi was all the time put a cautious eye on Indira and when Sameer returned from office,she understood that her words acted on him just like Indira and decided that now it was the best time to talk with both of them but separately.
Indira was sitting in her bed aimlessly looking outside when Simi knocked at the door.Indira's chain of thoughts broke when she heard the knock and found Simi standing with a tray.Indira immediately stood up and said,"Arey auntyji aapne kyu taklif ki,main to aa hi rahi thi.Main hi chai bana deti aapne khaamakha..."Simi came inside and said,"Main kaunsa roz roz banati hu,hamesha to servants hi sab kuch karte hai."She put the tray on the table and sat beside her and said,"Ye le chaai pee le."Indira smiled and took a sip from the cup.Simi said,"Main jaanti hu beta maine subhe bohot rudely baat ki hai tujhse,but beta,Iam really worried about Maahi.Main nehi chahti meri poti humse kahi dur jaaye,apne ghar se kahi dur jaaye.Ye uska ghar hai.Main ye sab isliye keh rahi hu kyuki...tum to jaanti ho Sameer kaisa hai,agar usey kuch chahiye to bas chahiye,uske liye vo kisi bhi hadh tak ja sakta hai.Par Maahi ke aane ke baad maine uske zindagi mein,uske andar bohot badlaav dekha hai."Indira nodded her head and said,"Main jaanti hu auntyji,Sameer bohot badal gaya hai,par main usse shaadi nehi kar sakti kyuki sirf Maahi ke liye shaadi karna ye sahi nehi hai,kyuki shaadi ke baad hamaari zindagi bhi ek dusre ke saath jur jaayegi.Ek rishta nibhaane ke liye usme pyar hona bohot zaruri hai,jo ab nehi hai aur shaayad Sameer ke liye vo kabhi tha bhi nehi.Ek baar hamaare rishte par bharosa karke main dhokha kha chuki hu,main phir se nehi khaana chahti shaayad bardaasht bhi na kar paau."Simi understood her dilemma and so she replied,"Main samajh sakti hu beta.I can understand ke tu apni jagah par galat nehi hai.Par tu jaanti hai ke agar tum dono ne shaadi nehi ki aur agar Sameer ki shaadi kisi aur ke saath ho gayi,to Sameer chutkiyo mein Indira,Maahi ki custody le lega.Aaj bhale hi tum kamaati ho,par Sameer ka financial status tumse kahi guna zyaada behtar hai aur Maahi ko jis tarah ka comfortable aur secured future Sameer de sakta hai vaisa tum nehi de sakti."Indira nodded her head and agreed.She replied,"Main jaanti hu auntyji aur samajhti bhi hu.Par Maahi koi khilona nehi hai,bachchi hai meri,janam diya hai maine usko.Koi aise hi meri beti ko mujhse cheen lega aur main chupchap dekhti rahungi aisa kabhi nehi hoga.Maahi ko 8 saal tak maine paala hai,to is naate kanoonan Maahi par sabse pehla haq mera hai."Simi was uttering each and every word very catiously and with proper calculation which was hitting the target directly,so she said,"Par tumne apni pregnancy ki baat Sameer se chupaayi ye baat to sach hai na aur yehi baat tumhaare khilaaf istemaal hogi agar tum court gayi to.Vo to yehi maanegi na ke tumne usey Maahi ke baare mein bataayi nehi isliye usko Maahi ke baare mein kuch bhi nehi maaloom chala,phir tum kya karogi?Tumhaare paas tab kuch nehi bachega.Aur phir tum dono jab Sameer ke birthday par 10 saal pehle hamaare apartment mein ek saath kuch pal guzaare,vo sab one sided forced bhi nehi tha.I mean...that was an act of consensual s*x between two adults.Am I right?"Indira shrugged and lowered her head.Simi asked,"Then??Kaise prove karogi ke Sameer ne tumhe chor diya ya tumhaari responsibility lene se inkaar kar diya?"She replied,"Maine Sameer se kaha tha ke hum shaadi kar lete hai par usne manaa kar diya."Simi said,"At that moment tumhe shaayad apne conceive karne ke baare mein pata bhi nehi tha aur tab Sameer pata hai court mein yehi kahega ke jo tum dono ke beech mein hua,vo dono ki marzi se hua aur aisa bohot aam baat hai us umar mein.Tab vo shaadi ke liye prepared nehi tha,phir tum kya bologi?"Indira understood what Simi was trying to say and she also understood that whatever Simi was saying was correct.She was feeling very helpless and on seeing her reaction,Simi understood that the medicine was doing its work.At that time,Indira,from inside was like an wounded tigress and was like could do anything to save Maahi at that moment.She cried and replied,"Par auntyji,agar Maahi mujhse alag hui to main mar jaaungi.Mere gharwaale mujhse bohot naraaz hai.Main ma se mandir mein mili thi,unhone mujhse kaha ke papa meri shakal tak nehi dekhna chahte.Aise mein ab Maahi hi mere jeene ka aakhri sahaara hai agar vo bhi mujhse dur ho gayi to...to main apni jaan de dungi."Simi put her hand on Indira's shoulder and replied,"Main teri haalat samajhti hu beta,isiliye keh rahi hu ke socho is baare mein ya phir ek aise aadmi se shaadi karlo jo financially stable ho aur jo tum dono ko support kare aur Maahi ki saari zimmedaariya bhi uthaaye taaki Sameer tum dono ko alag na kar sake.Just think about it kyuki sach bolu to Indira ab main sach mein chahti hu ke mere bete ki bhi shaadi ho jaaye,tumse nehi to kisi aur se hi sahi.After all main hu to ek ma hi na tumhaari tarah."Simi rubbed Indira's head lovingly and then left from there.After coming out of Indira's room,Simi gave an evil smile and said,"One wicket down ab mere laadle ki baari hai."She went to the kitchen to bring another cup of tea for Sameer and went to his bedroom.
Sameer was helping Maahi in her studies when Simi entered inside his room.On seeing Maahi,Simi said,"Maahi tujhe pata hai jab tu nehi thi na tab tere daadu ne medicine lete waqt mujhe bohot pareshaan kiya hai.Abhi bhi nakhre kar rahe hai,ja to zara thori unka dimaag thikaane laga kar aa."Maahi nodded her head and immediately left from there.Sameer took the cup of tea from Simi's hand and said,"Thanks mom."Simi found out to be a very good opportunity and so she raised the topic of the morning.Simi said,"Maine aaj subhe tujhpar bohot gussa kiya tha na aur tu thik se naashta bhi nehi kar paaya hai na?Par main kya karu bol,main teri ma hu na main to chahti hu ke tera ghar bas jaaye,apni bahu ka muh dekhu,uspar saari zimmedaariya saup kar main bhi ab araam karna chahti hu.Tu to meri baat suntan hai nehi to isliye main thora..."Sameer disturbingly asked,"Aap ko kya ho gaya hai mom?Kyu shaadi ko lekar mere peeche pari hui hai?"Simi made a face and replied,"Arey to ab tu zindagi bhar kunwara betha rahega kya?Ab to Indira bhi soch rahi hai ke vo shaadi kar legi aur sahi bhi hai.Bichaari akeli kabtak rahegi."That news was like a flash of thunder for Sameer.He didn't expect that Indira was thinking something like that.He asked,"Indira shaadi karne ka soch rahi hai?"Simi noticed his reaction and casually replied,"Ha...vaise puri tarah se decide nehi kiya hai,par...Maahi ke liye...mujhe lagta hai vo is baare mein soch to zarur rahi hai."Sameer made a fist out of anger.Seeing that she replied,"Ab main to chahti thi ke tum dono ek ho jaao to Maahi bhi is ghar mein hamesha hamesha ke liye aa jaayegi,par ab tum dono ek dusre se shaadi nehi karna chahte ho to main tumpar dabaav to nehi daal sakti hu na.Ab Indira ki agar shaadi ho gayi to vo to Maahi ko lekar chali jaayegi."She made a sad face.Sameer angrily said,"Aise kaise vo meri beti ko lekar yaha se chali jaayegi?Main usey kahi nehi jaane dunga aur zarurat pari to court se uski custody lunga."Simi said,"Par beta,tujhe uski custody nehi mil sakti hai kyuki,Indira ne akele 8 saal tak uski parvarish ki hai aur vo bhi bohot achchi tarah se,ab Indira to aise hi aadmi se shaadi karegi na jo financially stable ho aur jo Maahi ko apnaaye.Agar aisa ho gaya tab to Maahi tujhe kabhi nehi milegi and in fact court bhi Indira ko hi support karega kyuki abto uske khudke paas bohot achchi naukri bhi hai,kaafi jaldi hi bohot zyaada tarakki kar li hai usne aur upar se uski ma bhi.Court yaadatar cases mein ma ko hi favour karti hai."Sameer replied,"Aur main Maahi ka baap hu.Main bhi dekhta hu ke Indira kaise Maahi ko yaha se lekar jaati hai."He angrily left from there.Simi was damn happy to see Sameer's reaction.She said,"Yess!!!Ab aayega mazaa khel mein.Mere laal main bhi teri ma hu.Jab ghee seedhi ungli se na nikle tab ungli tedhi karni parti hai.Ab main bhi dekhti hu ke apne andar chupe huye us pyar se tum log kabtak muh pher kar rehte ho."She again gave an evil smile.
Few days later,one day when Maahi returned from school,she was damn angry on someone.Simi,as usual came downstairs to give Maahi her food,but on seeing her angry face,she asked,"Kya baat hai Maahi,bare gusse mein lag rahi hai?"Maahi looked angrily at Simi and replied,"Main gussa aapse hu.Aapko pata hai aap kitni buri ho gayi ho?"Simi confusingly asked,"Maine kya kiya hai?"Maahi threw her bag on the sofa and replied,"Kal maine aapki saari baate sunli ke aap mere papa ke liye larki dekh rahe hai unki shaadi ke liye aur aapne us pandit ko phone par ye bhi bola ke aap papa ke liye larkiyo ka rishta chahte hai.Main apne papa ki shaadi kahi aur nehi hone dungi.Mere papa sirf mere aur meri mummy ke saath hi rahenge aur koi step mummy is ghar mein nehi aayegi aur agar aayi to main usko maar maar ke ghar se bahaar nikaal dungi."Maahi was so furious at Simi that she was taking deep breaths out of anger.After that she continued,"Aapne aaj mujhe lunch bhi pack karke nehi diya hai isliye main aapse aur bhi zyaada gussa hu,aapko pata hai mujhe aaj kitni bhuk lagi thi school mein?"Simi asked,"Par tujhe to main roz lunch pack karke deti hu aur tu usey apne dosto ko deti hai aur khud canteen ke delicious sandwiches khaati hai,to aaj kya hua?"Maahi made a face and replied,"Vo canteen bandh tha."Simi understood her agony and she replied,"Oh to isliye maharani mujhse itna gussa hai.Khair..."She sat on the cair and asked,"Tera mujhe daatna ho gaya ya tujhe aur bhi kuch bolna hai?"Maahi turned her face away from her.Simi pulled her towards herself and made her sit on her lap and then said,"Dekh aaj maine tujhe lunch nehi diya thik hai?To aaj tera canteen waala nehi aaya to tujhe mere tiffin ki yaad aayi,aaj tujhe mere tiffin ki value samajhme aayi,hai na?To aaj agar tujhe tiffin mil jaata to kya tujhe kabhi samajhme aata ke ghar se pack kiya hua lunch kitna zaruri hota hai aur ye tere liye hi banta hai taaki tujhe bhuk na lage?Ab samajhme aaya ghar ka khaana kitna zaruri hota hai?"Maahi nodded her head and then Simi said,"To jaise aaj tujhe lunch nehi mila tab tujhe lunch ki value pata chali hai thik usi tarah se hi jabtak tere mummy papa ek dusre se dur nehi jaayenge ya dur jaane ka dar dil mein nehi hoga tabtak unhe kaise paata chalega ke vo ek dusre se pyar karte hai aur unhe ek dusre ke saath rehna hai.Hai ki nehi?"Maahi looked at Simi and confusingly asked,"Matlab?"Simi kissed on her cheek and replied,"Matlab ye hai ke ye daadi ka plan hai taaki jaldi se jaldi mummy aur papa ki shaadi ho jaaye.Ye sab kuch main to naatak kar rahi hu tere liye,taaki tere ma baap ek saath rahe."Maahi curiously asked,"Vo kaise??"Simi replied,"Tu bas dekhti ja."Maahi then asked,"Par dadi agar vo larkiya yaha aa gaye to?"Simi gave a disappoint look and asked,"To tu kisliye hai?Unhe tu bhaga degi hai na?Abhi tu hi ye keh rahi thi,yaad hai?"Maahi doubtfully replied,"Main karu..."Simi gave a look to Maahi and said,"Tujhe yaad hai kaise apne aur apni mummy ke liye papa ko dhundhte dhundhte sahi mein apne hi papa ke saath yaha bina kisiko bataaye bhaag aayi thi?Jo larki aisa kaam kar sakti hai,kya vo abhi apne mummy papa ke liye itna nehi kar sakti?"Maahi thought about that and was very excited.She was encouraged with Simi's words and replied,"Zarur karungi daadi,unko ek baar aane to do yaha.Aisa bhagaaungi,aisa bhagaaungi,yaha aas paas bhi kabhi nehi bhatkenge."Simi patted her back and replied,"Thats like Diwan.Ab dekh kaise tere ma baap ka dimaag main thikaane lagati hu."Maahi hugged her grandmother cheering for her.
