After facing turbulent times due to Shareefuddin , His sister Bakshi Bano's husband , Akhbar formed an opinion that an outsider becoming son in law of the royal family often develops way too much ambitions and this may harm the intrests of the clan. So he forbade daughters of the clan from being married. This tradition continued for upto many generations. Shah Jahan (Akhbar's grandson) too followed this rule and both of his daughters Roshanara and Jahanara never married.
Sadly cheapuddin not only tried harmi.g akhbar he indirectly harmed generations to come
EDIT : zebrunissa , jahanaara , roshanara ,gauhara were all unmarried known collectively by the name Virgin Mughal princess. there were a veey few exceptions. sorry if i offend anybody. i just happen to read these facts n being a Jodha Akbhbar serial lover i thot it to share with other fans
