Why are APL and MH so popular?

I think both are overrated but it seems they have been added to the lists of good dramas such as ZGH, Dastaan, MZZEB etc.

I just went through the pages of this section and both MH, and APL have an entire topic dedicated to them. Also Shukk and Kankar are doing well. But Shukk and Kankar are really good. Well written story, good performances unlike MH and APL which are slow paced/lame.

So how come both are so popular? I just checked the list, there's no shortage of other good dramas?

Ary/Geo/HumTv currently air:

Mere Humrahi = terrible.

Darmiyan = terrible

Meri Beti = I never expected it, but it's really nice untill now (7 episodes). 😳

Shukk = Great.

Kabhi Kabhi = Not awesome, but definitely better than MH and APL.

Sannata = Getting great reviews, but many find it boring. Still rather Sannata than MH and APL.

Billo Bablu aur Bhaiya = Like Main Abdul Qadir Hoon. It's fun...not a masterpiece but I'd rather watch that than MH and APL.

Pachtawa = Seems promising. But can't say it will be good yet.

Geo...doesn't has many interesting shows...but Meri Zindagi Hai Tu, Mere Khawabon Ka Diya, Mann Ke Moti, Zindagi Udaas Hai Tu, and Ranjish Hi Sahi all have better storylines than APL and MH.

HUMTV is for me the winner with Halki Si Khalish, Aseer Zadi, Kankar, Aisa Jale Jiya and Shareek E Hayat.

So there are many shows currently on air...still everyone seems to be watching MH and APL. Kyun? The ratings of both those shows are excellent. Look at the latest episode of APL...you wait all week and nothing happend in that episode. Waste of time 🤢

To be honest I was looking forward to Mere Humrahi. Here in the UK we are only a few episodes in but I was bored after the first episode.

Another drama that I don't really like any more is Mere Harjai. Literally the whole story is each family member saying that the other person has been wronged and then saying that the same person is bad. For example the mother says that her son's life has been ruined by Maha but then she sympathises with her and then goes back to saying she is wrong. It's like make up your mind.

I'd say avoid everything from geo and ary digital. I think HumTv dramas are the best.

I watched only the first or maybe second episode of APL and I was like🤢...the whole shaadi scene was so badly directed...nothing made sense...zabardasti ka scene...then he brings wifey home and then dadi ka reaction🤢...absolutely bakwas drama with terrible acting and direction...would never recommend it...I also wonder why its so popular here.

i agree , these days only Kankar and Shukk are the dramas i wait for...i also like rishtay kuch adhore say...because I am curious about the end...i know they are dragging the whole gaiti/arsal thing, but i still find it interesting...i also watched sannata because of the reviews...but its too boring...same with Numm...stopped watching that as well.

Darmiyan is another disaster...watched 3-4 episodes...what a crappy drama...plus bad acting...whats going on...these people shoud just stick with umera ahmed and other novels.

Mere humrahi had a good start but the actress is trying too hard...dont like her a bit.

I don't think they're as popular as you're thinking they are. 😆

At the moment, I honestly think Kankar is the best show on air. Shukk is following. I think Aseer Zaidi (this show on humtv) isn't doing bad either. Everything else is either below average or not rated at all.

The reason why APL and MH have gotten attention are because of the romance part of the show...otherwise, no where are they near the levels of Dastaan, MZZB, ZGH etc. I'm currently only following Shukk and Kankar and I really think those are the best shows at the moment. Even Fawad Khan's Numm on Geotv has failed to deliver. Oh yeah Humtv usually has the better shows, ARY is pretty good too..Geo kinda comes last amongst these 3. Geo's last big serial was MZZB..nothing has been as great as that show in years now.

They aren't that popular. I think both shows are horrible. I was cringing throughout the single random episode of MH I saw. As for APL I watched the first few episodes but the show is sooo slow, there is no progress what so ever. Also, Shehryar's weak acting as well as most of the other cast's annoying acting turned me off. I will probably tune back into APL once I hear there is some movement.

Love the APL ost though.
