No one could see this coming. The title 'Villain' has two contenders now and Sidharth Malhotra is finding competition from none other than Arjun Rampal. It has just been revealed that the title was actually reserved for Arjun Rampal and though he held it for a while, he is all set to begin work on the film in a few weeks from now.
''That's right,'' confirms a source, ''Though Ekta Kapoor had announced THE VILLAIN with Sidharth Malhotra way back in February, the fact remains that Arjun had his eyes on this title for quite some time. He was busy wrapping up work on D-DAY and SATYAGRAHA, hence there was no news of him beginning work on it.''
That is all set to change now, what with the film also marking the debut of Sam Ahmed. Currently holding the profile of Vice Chairman and Chief Creative Officer at Rediffusion YR, Sam carries an interest in filmmaking as well and VILLAIN is all set to be his outing. Other than Arjun, the film will also star Arunoday Singh.
However Balaji is going ahead with their plans to bring THE VILLAIN on floors this August once director Mohit Suri is back from vacation. On their end, there is status quo around the title and they don't seem to be budging from their stand. When contacted, Balaji officials were unavailable for comment. On the other hand Arjun sounded gung-ho around the film and it's kick-start. On contacted, he said, ''Yes, my film is called VILLAIN and it is all set to kick-start.''
The film is expected to go on floors after the release of SATYAGRAHA in August. While one waits to see if it is Arjun or Sidharth who turn out to be the villain, is there another war in the making?
