The background music played...

the Bride descended down the stairway,
capturing all attention,
but her eyes were constantly searching for someone...
She knew he wouldn't be there,
still she hoped.
for all that her love was worth of,
she hoped.

The priest called her for the wedding rituals.
She sat down at the Mandap beside her husband to be, she was to be bonded to him for forever now,
but still her heart was in HIS custody...

"Ab dono ek dusre ko VarMala pehnaiye."
They stood up and she hesitantly, reluctantly put the VarMala around Suraj's neck.
And he also put it around her's.

The PanditJi said some Mantras then it was time for KaniyaDaan.
Her mother did the ritual.
She shut her eyes, and sighed.

Her hope was shattered.

She was clinging to the last piece of hope;

Atleast Arjun would come to her wedding...
By some Unlikely Miracle he would call-off this wedding
and Marry her himself...
Well such things dont happen that she knew...

Her best chums,
Shree and Chotu stood at a corner along with the rest of ETF.

They all knew how madly in love Riya was with Arjun...
but he didn't even come.

"Chotu, u know, i can garante Ri Arjun sir ka intezar karrahi hai."
"Haa, Shree; dekho uski aankhe kaise dhoondh rahe unhe"

"Pata nhi Rawte ko ho kya gaya hai, why cant he see her love?" said Sameer.

"Par riya ye shaadi kyu karrahi hai" asked the exasperated Ayesha.
She was Riya's cousin, & knew all her secrets...
except this.

"Ab Var aur Kanya Phero k liye khare ho jaye."

They stood up for the Phera's...
she recalled all her dreams woven.
In all of them,
Arjun was there.

She recalled the times when in the conference room,
she used to steal glances at him,
and Chotu & Shree would tease her, she would blush and shy away.

She recalled,
how she never forgot ordering his cutting chai.

She remembered,
all the times, when she would try to help soothe his wounds...
and he would give that glare and order her to not intrude.

She remembered the day when she was to be shot,
then, how he mocked her belief, her God.
she remembered.
The day she had shot for the first time,
that too to save his life.
How he had comforted her after her breakdown...

She just recalled all the time spent with him...

Tooti Chaarpayi wohi,
Thand phurwayi rasta dekhey...
Doodhon ki Malai wohi,
Mitti surahi rastaa dekhey...
Re Kabira Maan Jaa,
Re Fakira Maan Jaa...


Lost in her memories she didnot notice when the Phera's completed.
"Ab baith jaiye." said PanditJi.
"Var Kanya ko Mangalsutra pehnaye."

Suraj tied the Mangalsutra around her neck.

"Ab Var, Kanya ki Maang me Sindoor bhare."

Suraj took a pinch of Sindoor,
She shut her eyes tight.
and just when his hand was to touch her forehead...

Her eyes popped up at his authorative voice,

Everyone turned,
There he stood at the doorway.
he strided to the Mandap...

"Ye shaadi nahi ho sakti."
"Dekhiye Jajman aise vivah k karya me vigne na daley. " the priest said...

"Arjun sir..." she whispered, barely audible.
Everyone was talking loudly.

"PanditJi, mujhe Riya se akele me baat karni hai, please."
"Par beta, shubh mohurat..."

"Arey bharh me jaaye shubhmohurath."

He pulled her to a corner...
She gulped and asked him...

"Kya hua sir? Meri shaadi chal rahi thi."
"Riya, just listen to me please, Ye larka Suraj, tumse pyaar nahi karta, are uski to haysiat bhi waisi nahi jaisa usne bataya, niether is he fully qualified, he is not a choice!!"

"Janti hu sir,
maine khud pata kiya tha."

"Kya?? R u mad Riya? Why are you still marrying him, aur wo bhi apni khushiyo ka gala daba k? Kyu??"

"Sir, meri jeene ki to sirf ek hi tamanna hai. Aur khushiya to kab ki marrh gayi meri.

she turned and was halfway through the Mandap...

when he loudly said...

"But I love U Riya"
a hush fell over,
everyone was shocked;

Riya stopped at her tracks...
and turned to stare at him...

was it true, or is she dreaming?

She was elated,
but...

"its too late sir!"

she replied, and completed the wedding rituals...
tears trailing down her face.
He just stood there helplessly...

The priest announced Suraj & Riya as man & wife...

The whole ETF were shocked.

She took elders' blessing, and when she came to her team,
they all were speechless.
Yet she hugged all...
but didn't spare Arjun a single glance.

"Riya..."
he mumbled but she didnt respond...
she walked out of the hall.

"Riya please..."

he called again...
No respond,
She had parted her ways,
She wasn't his anymore.

Ae kabira Maan ja,
Re Faqira Maan ja,
K Tujhko bulaye teri parchaiya,
Kaisa Nirmohi tu hai,
Kaisa Harjaiya...

oh to yeh tragic end tha...he was late, but he reached na,...Riya ne kisi aur se shaadi kar li...
