Mandar Chandwadkar, who essays the role of
Atmaram Thukaram Bhide in SAB TV's Taarak Mehta
Ka Ooltah Chashmah (produced by Neela Telefilms),
is a mechanical engineer by profession, and acting
happened to him by chance. Isn't this an interesting piece of news? Well, let us
hear about this from the man himself. Mandar tells Tellychakkar.com, "I never thought I
would be an actor. During my college days, I used to
act in plays. I am a mechanical engineer by
profession, but I guess I was destined to be an
actor." Talking about getting into the skin of the role of
Bhide, the actor says, "Well, I am happy playing the
role of Bhide. In real life I am not like him; I am more
of the fun-loving guy and would never dominate
things the way Bhide does. I love the way my career
is shaping up. My journey as an actor which started with Marathi theatre and then moved on to serials
has been great. There are people who ask me
whether I will not take up any new show. My
answer always is that till the time Taarak exists, I
will not leave it. I am very attached to the show. In
future I would want to try my hand at reality shows and even Bollywood." Talking about the Taarak team, Mandar avers, "It is
one of the best teams to work with. Dilip Joshi is a
fine actor, even the kids are marvellous. I feel
