Mohit's haldi ceremony was over. All the guests had left. Sandhya was now cleaning the house. Bhabo was going on giving one instruction after another. Beendini woh karo, yeh karo. Meena was keeping Kanha in her lap and as usual Chavi was chatting away on phone. Hence all the cleaning work solely fell on Sandhya. Meena was murmuring to herself " Jeethanji dekhti hoon ki aap kaise padthi hain, jab thak ye kam poora honga tho aadhi rath ho chooki hogi "
Suddenly Sooraj came keeping a hand on his head. He looked as if in pain. Bhabo was concerned. " Chora kya hua". Bhabo sir pe bahut dard hain, aisa lagta hain hi sir phat raha ho"
Sandhya too came running seeing him. " Soorajji aap baitiye. Mein abhi aap ke liye chai leke aathi hoon"
Bhabo was like " Arey there beend ke sir par dard hai. uska sir tho ek bar daba ke de. chai mein banati hoon"😡
Sandhya sat near Sooraj and started gently massaging his head. Sooraj was in no mood to be pacified. " Sandhyaji mein kah raha hoon mera sir phat raha hain, aur aap dheere dhaba rahi hain"he almost shouted
Sandhya looked around and she saw Meena laughing , by that time Bhabo also came with chai.
" Beendini ab tak yahan baiti hai, jaa apne kamre mein jha aur apne beend ka teek tarah se khyaal rak, tere dhyaan tho sirf padayi mein hi hain naa, kabhi kabhi apna patni dharm nibha. Aur hann ye chai bhi le jaa"
Saying this Bhabo called Chaturi and Chavi. Yahan ka baki kaam dono milke teek kar de. Chavi was like Bhabo. Bhabo gave her a stern look and she said teek hai and reluctantly got down to work
Sandhya asked Sooraj to get up, gave him support and took him to their room. She rested him on the bed, kept the chai on bedside and closed the door. As she turned after closing the door she saw Sooraj standing and grinning.
She was like " Soorajji" then she understood. " Soorajji kyun aise jhoot bolte hain. Dekhiye Bhabo ne kitne pyaar se aapke liye chai banayi"
"Sandhyaji aapke exam hai, aapko padna hai, aur Sandhyaji mein Bhabo se ladkar aapko nyay nahi de pavungaa. isliye aise bahane kar raha hoon. Sandhyaji Bhabo ki soch dheere dheere hi hum badal sakthe hain. woh soch badal ne tak aapki pareeksha intezaar nahi karengi. Aur Sandhyaji aapko ache ankh nahi mile to mein apne aap ko kabhi maf nahi kar pavunga. Abhi bhi mujhe dar hain Sandhyaji ki aap kaise pareeksha likhengi "
Sandhya looked at his concerned face and spoke slowly as if remembering something " Soorajji ek baat batavum aapko. shayad aapko ye baat maloom nahi hain hi aapki Sandhya ne ek pareeksha apne shaadi ke thyaari ke beech mein liki thi ". Sooraj looked at her in astonishment. She continued moving towards him " us waqt Sandhya ek aisi chidiya ki tarah thi jiske donon pank kaath diye ho. ek tharaf se uske sir se uske maa-baap ka saaya cheen liya gaya or doosri taraf usko aisi zindagi mein dakeel diya jaa raha tha joo usko manzoor na thi. Soorajji Sandhya tho us haal par pareeksha likhar theesre number pe aa gayi"
She looked at him. His eyes were moist as if he felt the pain she had gone through that day " Soorajji aur aaj Sandhya ko uske pankh vapas mil gaye hain. Kyun ki uske pass aap hain Soorajji , aapka pyaar hai , aapka viswas hain. Tho Sandhya kaise har sakthi hain. Soorajji meri sabse badi thakat tho aapki muskaan hain. Isliye aapse ek binti hain. Aap bahane banayiye lekin aise bahane math bananiye ki mujhe aapka uthra hua chehra dekhne ko mile " . Sooraj was smiling now and he took her hands and spoke " Sandhyaji mein aapse vada kartha hoon hi mein ab aisa koi bahana nahi banauga jahan aap mera uthra hua chehra dekhen" Saying this he took the chai and gave it to her " Sandhyaji chai thandi ho rahi hain aur mujse zyada aapko iski zarrorat hain" "Soorajji chai bhabo ne aap ke liye bechi thi aap pijiye". Then they looked at each other. Without telling another word Sandhya took the chai glass and took half of it. Sooraj took the glass from her hand and drank the other half. Sandhya smiled at him, went to her table, opened the book and started studying. Sooraj went back to the bed, sat looking at her for sometime before falling asleep.
