Aditya Roy Kapur who proved his acting capabilities in films such as 'Action Replay' and 'Guzaarish', comes as a Solo-Lead in Mahesh Bhatt's upcoming film 'Aashiqui 2'. The film is no way a sequel to the 90's cult hit 'Aashiqui', but it's just the name franchise that has been carried forward.

Now going by the trailer of 'Aashiqui 2', it will definitely remind you of Amitabh Bachchan-Jaya Bachchan starrer 1973 Hit 'Abhimaan' which was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee. The Trailer of 'Aashiqui 2' tells the story of Rahul Jaykar (Aditya Roy Kapur) who is a singing sensation and falls in love with a simple looking girl Arohi Shirke (Shraddha Kapoor) who is also a good singer. Rahul intends to make Arohi a singing star, their love and ego is questioned when Arohi becomes a bigger name in Music-Industry.

Quoted Aditya, "Aashiqui was a cult film and it feels great to be a part of this Brand. The character I play is called Rahul Jaykar and he is a very successful musician. But he is missing something in life. He thinks his life is not fulfilled till he finds Arohi (Shraddha Kapoor)." The Trailer of the film looks promising and fresh with brilliant performances by the leads. But at the same time, it draws many similarities with Big B's classic 'Abhimaan'.

Although the makers of the film might claim Aashiqui 2 having no connections with 1973's Abhimaan, we will leave that decision to you after you have seen the Trailer of the film. 'Aashiqui 2' is slated to release on April 26th all over.

Even if it had similarities with 'Abhimaan' so what...i'm sure this generation would more relate to Aashiqui 2 than "Abhimann"(have seen the movie, it's cute but depressing)
