In recent times, many lead actors have quit television shows ' either to take a short break from their hectic schedules, or in search of greener pastures. The latest one to quit is actress Pratyusha Banerjee, who plays Anandi in 'Balika Vadhu' ' one of the most popular shows on the tube. Actor Shoaib Ibrahim aka Prem of 'Sasural Simar Ka' will follow suit soon. He decided to say goodbye as he was dissatisfied with his role and the storyline.

We list out a few faces, who have quit after becoming synonymous with their shows, and their reasons for doing so.

Shoaib Ibrahim
The actor put in his papers in February and is shooting for the remaining days of his notice period in Sasural Simar Ka. According to sources, Shoaib was unhappy with his character and the way his track was shaping up. In a female-dominant show, he found himself underutilised.

Jayshree Soni
The fact that she had to age on-screen and play mother to 20-year-olds in Rishton Ke Bhanwar Mein Uljhi Niyati prompted her to leave. The actress put in her papers in February and the production house is currently in the process of finalising the new female lead for the show.

Kavita Kaushik
After playing Chandramukhi Chautala, the feisty cop of FIR, for seven years, the actress left it last month for another show, titled Tota Weds Maina. The show will see a generation leap and Chak De girl Chitrashi Rawat will step into Kavita's shoes to play Jwalamukhi.

Sanjeeda Sheikh
She quit Piya Ka Ghar Pyaara Lage in December to play the lead in an upcoming show. It's the graph of the character and storyline that prompted the decision. The producers had to kill her character, Sejal, in the show. They roped in a new lead to play a new character.

Barun Sobti
The actor became popular as Arnav Singh Raizada in Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon. But his decision to quit the show a year-and-a-half later, in November (2012), had a devastating effect. The channel had to end the show abruptly after the viewers refused to settle for anyone else.

Giaa Manek
After playing Gopi bahu for two years, the actress was replaced in Saath Nibhaana Saathiya overnight in June, last year. The decision was taken after she decided to participate in a dance reality show on a rival channel. The production house wanted her to refuse the offer, but Giaa didn't.
