I really liked the episode, especially the way they framed SP and Radha's past. Something that really impressed me was how they included all the logical details in Radha's story, when they could have just had her say that she found out SP was married. Instead, they specified that he was married with one kid and further, provided the exact birth dates of both Yash and Akash. This makes me happy that they are sort of very much in tune with the story they have told so far while inventing new plot lines. I also liked the way they framed the story because of a few things:

1. The relationship, though no doubt exploitative, was very much consensual which leaves room for SP's redemption, especially if we find that he did have some genuine feelings for Radha.

2. We don't know why SP left Radha, or why he suddenly turned so vicious against her. Was it just to deny ownership of the child he had fathered, to justify abandoning it? Was there a third party who didn't want them to be together?

3. The echo with Aarti-Prashant is unmistakable! This is possibly my favourite thing about this whole story idea. I feel like they are exploring all the themes they wanted to explore with Prashant's character, through SP in this story. How does a man who has fallen so low as to justify his own sins by accusing the woman he got pregnant of loose morals, get a second chance to redeem himself?

4. Did Gayatri know about the affair? Even if she didn't it is entirely possible that she knew in general that SP was not being faithful to her, and just took it in her stride... because that is what wives do. I mean with SP's virility it really means something that Gayatri didn't get pregnant again for so long after Pankaj. Clearly there was some shift in their marriage after he returned to her post-Radha.

5. Was Radha the only one? Because I think that is an important thing to think about... was SP really a casanova, or was there something special about Radha in particular that drew him to her?

Basically, I like the way Radha's story was told because while I could totally see how SP had gravely wronged her, and felt all the sympathy for her, it also made me curious to hear SP's side of the story, because it was written cleverly enough to sound like it had another side. I am not saying Radha is lying, but she just told what she knew. I am also not saying that anything SP could say would absolve him of his crimes, but I am interested to hear how this story plays out in his head.

I also really liked the mythological reference at the end, which I thought was very apt. However, I found it curious that neither Gayatri nor Aarti mentioned the fact that Parvati actually stops the poison from going into Shiva's system by holding his neck... and then dan dan dan... it is kept their for eternity by a snake that he winds around his neck. Neelakanth means blue throat and that is the complete story behind it, right? So why is everyone talking about taking the poison and nobody talking about the part when it was restricted from entering the whole system and poisoning it? I think this is significant.

At the surface, I think the poison is the truth itself, but to take it a little further, I think the poison in this situation is the responsibility for the truth, which as Gayatri said, all the other "gods" refused to take. The "gods" in this situation are SP and Radha. SP, of course refused to take responsibility for getting Radha pregnant and for the child that came out of their physical relationship, and now Radha refuses to take responsibility for denying Akash his birth right all of these years. I see these two as the devas and the asuras of the churning of the ocean. They both want the nectar, in SP's case a clean record of his honour and integrity, and in Radha's rights for her son without denying Akash, but are not willing to take the poison that comes with this "churning of the ocean," this push and pull between them. In the end I think it is going to be Yash who is the Shiva of this story and takes the poison, i.e. the responsibility, both for his father's crime against Radha and her child, and for his mother, Radha's crime against Akash and Gayatri. That is why I think they had Payal remark to him, specifically, how brave Shiva was.

In the same vein, I think Aarti is going to be his Parvati, who allows him to take the poison and save "samsara," but stops it from spreading all through out his body and destroying him. She will be the one to contain the poison because it is not in her power to drink it, that is, take responsibility for what happened with SP and Radha, while Yash is. What a stark connection this draws between Yash and Ansh, as both of them were abandoned by their fathers while still in the womb. How is Yash going to feel about his father when he realises that?

An Aside: I love the way they showed Palak telling Ansh about their dadaji's pujas. Although we may forget it, Ansh and Aarti haven't even been with the family a year yet, and it seemed so natural for Palak to still be telling him how things happen in their home.

Hi Samana, totally agree with everything you said. I like the way they are setting the tone for events to come and also how, as Jyo mentioned, Aarti's dilemma is voiced loud and clear.
@ bold:
Damn these CVs - everything Radha said, echoed Aarti's past - her child not being accepted by its father, her trying to compensate for a father's love, being asked to abort her child, taking tough measures to ensure her son get's a father's love (although this time it was a step father), etc. WOW WOW WOW! Seriously, only our CVs could make such a filmy story of baby-swapping seem so acceptable and weave it into the story flawlessly. I also loved the conflict between Yash and Aarti and how despite how much he trusts and loves her, pointing fingers at SP is a no-go zone between them. I wonder if there will ever be a point where Aarti would want to take a strong stance against SP and his injustices towards Radha, and Yash would begin to wonder if she was just doing out of spite in return for SP's treatment of Aarti recently.
I too loved how Gayatri explained the mythological details to the little ones; we all know where this is headed in terms of upcoming events and reactions amongst the elders. To me it also highlighted once again how impressionable kids are. Yash's impression of his father and his god-like status in his eyes must have been developed when he was at a similar age, seeing his father's devotion towards family, religious activities, and overall moral fiber. It has been subconsciously drilled into him so well that it is no wonder he refuses to accept anything negative about his father. In this sense, Pratik seems to be the only one of the brothers who is more realistic in terms of his perception of his father, despite being labelled as spineless by many. Pankaj, as we all know, is his father's shadow.
I think the hospital scene where SP names Yash and explains the reason why, is telling - we've all known how Yash is the favorite and is considered the true 'waaris' of SP and Gayatri, but now we get a glimpse as to how it started right from day 1. Poor Yash - he will be heartbroken yet again, but this time his Parvati will help him stop the poison from spreading not just throughout his body but also from affecting the other family members. I really hope Aarti "drinking poison" doesn't mean modifying the DNA reports. It doesn't look like she will have time for that because the MLA appears in the tent in the morning at around the same time.
Lastly, my heart really went out to Aakaash today, when he said that Radha was his mother, brother, sister, etc. She is his whole world, which is about to come down crashing soon. Yash still has his mother, siblings, wife, and children to support him when things get sticky, but Aakaash will feel truly alone, and understandably vengeful. It is his mother's love and his promise to her that will prevent him from trying to cause further trouble for the Scindhias, but when he finds out the whole truth, then he will no longer be bound by his promises to his "mother", will he?

Zet, Abby; wonderful takes.

Before I log off can I just say that I absolutely loved the scene after Yash wakes up and Panku appears with the doctor. Yash was almost like he had an out of body experience where his soul made him aware of his mother's touch. And Gurmeet was fabulous in portraying Yash in an almost zombie like trance.

And then the other scene that I loved was Akash/Radha scene. In spite of the fact that Akash had just tried to take someone's life, my heart still went out to him. He is going to be truly devastated when the truth comes out which makes me even more sure that Yash is going to be Akash's savior. Just like how Yash looks out for all his brothers, he will give Akash his due even if it means going against SP.

I think we are in for some fabulous emotional scenes between various characters.

Allright, catch you all later. 😃

@ Zetter, you pointed out something interesting that I couldn't put my finger on when I watched the episode: the injection. When they showed a close up of his arm in that scene, I was wondering why, and I could tell it meant something, but what? So thanks for that. Wow, I love the CVs for never failing to incorporate such things into the story.

I also loved how they had Aarti stay true to character when she heard the details of Radha's past. Even though what Radha did was wrong, and Aarti raised that question, she immediately understood Radha's pain and focused on the why instead of just the what. That woman has too much generosity and understanding in her heart. What an about-turn considering how aggressive she was towards Radha earlier!

JO, Zet, AbbyluvsMaan, Kirti, Asha, inlieu and ALL
Great takes and discussions.
I apologize for dropping in and out at random.
ALL
Now there are 2 possibilities - either the DNA test/report has been tampered or not tampered.
1. If the DNA test/report has been tampered
I suspect Pankaj in the DNA report tampering stuff. Somehow his getting the call did not seem appropriate to me. That call should have been received by SP not Pankaj.
Of course Pankaj is working under SP, Bua, G3 or some senior paternal side relative's orders.
2. If the DNA test/report has not been tampered.
Then G3 had her own affair too!! Now who was it that kept G3 pleasurably occupied in bed uss raat?
Or
My story on page 1 or something similar to that effect was enacted by Ishita's dad the MLA.

Samana, JO and ALL
Here is an alternative interpretation of the meaning of the story of how Lord Shiva swallowed poison for the sake of humanity and its application to PV and Aarti. It is a variant of what has been discussed this far.
1. We know from the spoilers that the DNA report is going to come negative.
2. This will result in SM members insulting and ousting the people in the tambus over false claims. There will be counter claims by the people in the tambu and the MLA that the DNA test/report were falsified.
3. To prevent this back-n-forth slandering and manhandling of family members (the devas and asuras) or the poison that is emerging between family members Aarti takes the blame for falsifying the DNA test/report. This is to prevent brother from fighting with brother and parents. Moreover a second or court ordered DNA test will eventually prove the falsification and only increase the mud slinging.
3. So Aarti will take the blame or drink the poison of fabricating the report and spill out the truth. This does not in anyway resolve the ensuing emotional agony that all must endure but it does take the tampering blame away from SP. More importantly the issue of baby swap and parenthood is brought to the forefront.
4. In other words the churning of the ocean to find the nectar or resolving the ensuing family turmoil must go on so that the all members learn to accept each other and live in peace (obtain the nectar).
5. But one individual has to come forward like Lord Shiva and take the poison or blame of DNA report falsification and reveal the truth for neither Radha nor SP are willing to spill out all their secrets - only then can the churning resume or family peace (nectar) finding process begin.
On another note:
Does the choice of white clothing for Yash symbolize going through mourning of some sort and beginning afresh?
Something akin to:
Kora kagaz or a fresh page and new beginning after mourning?
