Thoroughly disappointed

Nothing for Priyanka, Sridevi and OMG

Atleast Irfan got something. But nevertheless I don't see why filmfare is being so genuine now when for last 25 years it was more glamour awards. Where more popular films and stars won over more deserving

Filmfare, total BULLSHIT
I guess they finally saw all these articles on them

i agree totally but not this year since 2010 Salman is ignored
They need to change their title and not deceive the public

Reason when Zee can give to most popular why not them kya chhakar hai?

Quotable quotes of 58th Filmfare Awards

Some interesting comments made by celebrities at 58th Idea Filmfare Awards.

Once again the Filmfare night arrived and the most celebrated personalities from the industry graced the event. As the celebrities walked into the venue, they had something or the other to say about the event, the winners and the nominations. While someone was recollecting their memories, the other was found hooting for their favorite nominee and few others were just looking forward for the night to rock. Here are some of the quotable quotes from the overall event.

Yami Gautami: "This is my first year at Filmfare and I must confess that watching Filmfare Awards on television and actually being here at the venue is an altogether different experience".

Vidya Balan: "This is the first time I am coming with my husband (Siddharth Roy Kapur). Interestingly I met Siddharth for the first time at the backstage at Filmfare Awards some years back. So it is a very nostalgic feeling for me today ".

Vidya Balan (after she received the Best Actor - Female Award): "Thank you (cinematographer) Setu for making a pregnant women look beautiful. As a child I would stay glued to the TV to watch Filmfare. As the bible says ask and you shall receive".

Arjun Kapoor, "The fondest memory of my Filmfare is watching it with my mother but today I am walking the red carpet with my sister as she is my hottest date."

Choreographer Ceasar: "The song Auntyji was a challenge, not because of Kareena Kapoor but because of Imran Khan. It was a challenge to teach him. Imran also got inspired by Bosco who featured in the song as well. In fact the actors made us dance to their tunes"

Yash Chopra's wife, Pamela Chopra (while receiving the Lifetime achievement award for Yash Chopra): "Yash ji came to Bombay with Rs 200 in his pocket, dreams and his mother's blessings. He was the humblest person I have known in my life. He never knew he was Yash Chopra - his greatest quality. Three things he loved - films, food and family - in the same order".

Pooja Mishra: "I love the lady in the black so I have too dressed in black."

Manoj Bajpayee: Everyone who is nominated is a winner"

Madhuri Dixit Nene: "I have 6 Filmfare trophies."

Pritam: "I grew up listening to RD Burman's music and I am greatly influenced by him. Even today when I listen to his music, I get nostalgic. I am really happy to win two awards. I wasn't expecting two trophies"

Aftab Shivadasani arrives with his girlfriend Nin and confirms his wedding bash, "We have decided to marry each other. It's no more a secret. The date is not confirmed yet but inshaallah it will be this year for sure".

Parineeti Chopra, who was nominated in the Best Actress category for Ishaqzaade says she wants her cousin Priyanka Chopra to win for Barfi. "I want all the awards to go to Barfi. Ranbir Kapoor as the Best Actor, Anurag Basu as the Best Director".

Jess it's not about Salman but actually deserving stars.

Why give popular choice at Filmfare if it's judged by critics? Vidya was good but PC was better and so was Sridevi

Atleast other awards gave something to PC

Finally Karan, if found it funny then quoting it wasnt necessary

Unless you're itching for another baseless and pointless debate. My views. Let it be

Ranbir-Vidya win Best Actor Awards at Filmfare

The livewire Ranbir Kapoor and the vivacious Vidya Balan ended up winning top honours at the 58th Idea Filmfare Awards 2012.

Ranbir Kapoor won the Best Actor (Male) Award for his film Barfi. Interestingly Ranbir did not use mike for his thanksgiving speech. He kept the mike on floor and gave his speech through expressions, without the use of any words like his mute character in Barfi. Karan Johar, who was hosting the segment, claimed this was the best acceptance speech of the night.

Vidya Balan won the Best Actor (Female) Award for her film Kahaani. "This goes to the entire team of Kahaani", said Vidya Balan. "And thank you (cinematographer) Setu for making a pregnant women look beautiful. This is very special to all women who have lived their life with courage". Talking about Filmfare, Vidya said, "As a child, I would stay glued to the TV to watch Filmfare. And here I am today with a trophy. As the bible says ask and you shall receive".

Both the Best Actor Awards were given by Rekha. Both Vidya Balan and Ranbir Kapoor touched Rekha's feet to seek her blessings.

The Critics Award for Best Actor (Male) was given to Irrfan Khan for his performance of a athelete-turned-dacoit in the film Paan Singh Tomar. The Critics Award for Best Actor (Female) went to Richa Chadda for Gangs of Wasseypur. Manoj Bajpayee presented the award to her. Incidentally Manoj played Richa's costar and husband in the film Gangs of Wasseypur.

In a milestone year that marks the centenary of Indian cinema, Barfi! walked away with seven honours at the most awaited ceremony of the awards season. At the 58th Idea Filmfare Awards, organized at YRF Studio, Andheri, on Sunday evening, Ranbir Kapoor won the prized Black Lady for best actor for his performance as a deaf-mute person in the film.

Vidya Balan was adjudged best actress for her performance in Kahaani. This was her fourth Filmfare award. In a black-and-white checked Sabyasachi sari and mangalsutra, with husband Siddharth Roy Kapur by her side, Vidya said her role in Kahaani was the couple's favourite.

Earlier in the evening, as she stepped onto the red carpet, she said she was optimistic about her chances, but also lavished praised on fellow nominee Priyanka Chopra, whose performance in Barfi!, Vidya said, left her spellbound. Both films featured prominently in the top categories: if Barfi! was declared best film, Kahaani's maker Sujoy Ghosh got to wear the mantle of best director.

Long the darling of the international circuit, Irrfan emerged as the new Khan on the block, bagging the critics' award for best actor for Paan Singh Tomar. "I have always believed in choosing subjects that appeal to my intellect and any recognition or awards I win are incidental to the creative process," he said, adding, "If an award can elevate my career to a higher level then it becomes meaningful." Khan, who wore his arm in a smart blue sling, clarified that it was no fashion statement and he was indeed injured.

Ramesh Sippy presented the award for best lyricist to Gulzar, recalling their early films together. "I am missing the one person who is here today and yet absent, Yash Chopra," the writer said, prompting applause from the audience. The late filmmaker's absence on his home turf was more keenly felt when Chopra was posthumously awarded for lifetime achievement, an award collected by his wife Pamela.

It was a big night for Pritam, who won two awards for Barfi!, one for music and another for background score. Rajat Podar, who took home the Black Lady for best production design (Barfi!), showed quicksilver wit. "Main lakdi ka kaam karta hoon aur aapne mujhe ladki pakda di," he said, laughing. Then he turned to director Anurag Basu and recalled how Basu would eat his food and drink his tea on the set.

As Basu looked on nervously, Rajat said, "But this award is something I want to share with you, bro!" Basu smiled back. Pareshaan singer Shalmali Kholgade received the award for best playback (female). Ayushmann Khurrana won in the male category for Pani da Rang. "I wasn't expecting this. I always thought of myself as an actor who can sing, not a singer who can act," he said.

Hosts Shah Rukh Khan and Saif returned to the stage this year. SRK ribbed his friend about his marriage to Kareena Kapoor. "Saif is even wearing a mangalsutra, look! It is with great difficulty that I have got him to remove his sindoor!" he said, laughing. And as the long-haired Pritam, who won two awards, was leaving stage, SRK remarked, "Apna shampoo toh batata jata, yaar!"

India's cinematic journey that began with Dadasaheb Phalke's Raja Harishchandra in 1913 earned a fitting tribute from Filmfare in its centenary year with each winner receiving a special gold-rimmed trophy.

SRK led the centenary tribute to Indian cinema with a musical parody. The light-hearted, irreverent act began with hero-heroine perched apart on a tree for fear of the censors' scissor. Hindi cinema's preoccupation with the NRI audience was spoofed as well. But it was a proud moment when the song Jai ho! lauded India's win at the Oscars. Actor Katrina Kaif performed a medley of popular songs. Singer Usha Uthup, looking resplendent in a purple-and-gold sari, revisited her time as a crooner in Kolkata's nightclubs. The audience loved her medley, which included Ajeeb Dastaan Hai Yeh, Gore Gore O Baanke Chhore and One Two Cha Cha Cha!

The title sponsor for the event was Idea and the associate sponsor PC Jeweller. Sony Entertainment Television was telecast partner. The other sponsors were: time partner, Rotary Watches; fashion, Reliance Trends; fortune, Netsurf Communication; travel, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation; technology, Reliance Digital; outdoor, Bright Outdoor; trophy, The Award Gallery; multiplex, Khushi Advertising; beverage, Black Dog; English news channel, Times Now; radio, Radio Mirchi; food, Moveable Feast; music, T-Series. The show was directed by Fountainhead and event management was by Percept. Oxygen Entertainment was the event consultant.

The 58th Idea Filmfare Awards 2013 will be exclusively telecast on Sony Entertainment TV soon.
