Sangeeth Sivan shoots Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 in MP
After Prakash Jha's Satyagraha and Anil Sharma's Singh Sahab- The Great, Yamla Pagla Deewana 2 has also joined the list of films being shot in Madhya Pradesh this year.
Directed by Sangeeth Sivan, the shooting has already kicked off with Bobby Deol
and Neha Sharma, who arrived in Indore on Wednesday, headed to Mandav. Dharmendra
and Sunny Deol
are expected to join the film unit by the end of this month.
"Almost 80% of the film's shooting has been completed in England and the remaining 20% is being shot in Madhya Pradesh. The locations are Maheshwar's Narmada Ghat and local markets, Mandav's Jahaj and Roopmati Mahal and Lalbagh Palace in Indore. As of now, we're in Mandav till the 19th and will then move to Maheshwar. The shooting in Indore will be held in the first week of February," confirms Chandrashekhar Gaikwar, media coordinator of the film.
Initially, the film was to be shot in Varanasi, but director Sangeeth got fascinated with the beauty of Mandav and Maheshwar and chose to shoot here instead. Says Sangeeth, "The film was to be shot in Varanasi, within that belt of Uttar Pradesh. But after Chandrashekhar showed usthe pictures of Mandav and Maheshwar, we were fascinated by the locations' natural beauty. The film isn't based in MP, but if you may recall, the first part of Yamla Pagla Deewana
was also shot in this state. So coming back to MP for its sequel was just natural."
He adds, "Apart from the stunning locations and divine scenic beauty that the state offers, we also got a lot of support from the state government. My film needs a very desi touch and I don't think any other state can offer it better than MP. We're just delighted to be here and are already having a great time. Even the weather here is so right."
