If you have read the story from the beginning, yes she was introverted and lived in her own little world...But since she started volunteering at Saplings and saw children with worse case senarios, she started to see positives in her life... Then when she met Abby who was extroverted and fun, Abby opened her up to life and living... Madhu changed over time.. developed a personality... Learned to be spontaneous and enjoy life... Yes she has a terrible past but she learnt to compartmentalize it...

Also even though she has started living, she has not forgotten her past.. all that has transpired... Here Abby and Adam though know about her past but cannot share in it or help her deal with it... As they say 'Only someone who has faced disaster can understand disaster'...So though the pain remains, Madhu has learnt to bear it with a smile on her face...
