Chapter 4
Eyes closed, hands clutching the bed sheet so
tightly that her knuckles went white, she was totally numb, the storm was
brewing inside her and bitter memories of past just added to her misery,
getting a grip on herself she immediately pulled back and ran outside the room
almost loosing her balance, he extended his hand to stop her but she ran away
yet again, leaving him stunned and shocked, he immediately got up…"What just
happened! What on earth came over me that I pulled her…? (Burying his face,
in his palms) and what she must be thinking… that I am pervert, no she will
never think like that she knows me, Urrgh! I need to talk to her", he said to
himself, frustrated by all the feelings that were creeping inside him ….. Keeping
all these thoughts in mind…he went to freshen up.

Breakfast was quite an affair! Vidhi and Paridhi
serving everyone and Suraj Pratap, the head of the family was discussing about
some meeting with his sons Pankaj and Yash, Pankaj was listening to all of
that, but Yash, he was not getting a thing of whatever his father was saying.The
ever so concerned mother,Gayathri was worried for her son.
"Yash, you're not having fever, right? (Checking
his temperature)
"Maa, I am fine!"
Are you sure and where is Aarthi, I sent her to
wake you up (Hearing that Yash shut his eyes as memories of what happened in
the room flashed in front of him) Yash, you're okay? (Seeing his eyes
tightly shut.)
(Taking a deep breath)Yes! I
am fine, there is nothing to worry about and Aarthi, is in the kids room, I
guess and I am done with my breakfast so I'll call her.
Getting up from his chair, he went to search for
Aarthi.

His guess was right; she was in children's room. He
slowly entered and saw her under the table. Aarthi was clearing children's room
to distract herself from the memories of what happened in the room. Leaning
against the door, he stood there admiring her caring side. Slowly he went and
called out to her.
"Aarthi!"
Shocked hearing his voice Aarthi dropped what she
was having in her hands and turned her head towards him wide eyed!
"Yashji" She exclaimed which came out as a whisper.
"Aarthi, what are you doing here? (Extending his
hand) Come out! You'll hurt yourself.
"Yashji, I was cleaning the room…actually that." (Taking
his hand to get out.)
"Actually… (Pointing towards the floor where
everything was messed up!) I was cleaning that, you don't like anything
messed up, that's why!"
(The last bit made him raise his eyebrows, he said
to himself…"Oh so you remember that, I like everything in its place, but
doesn't remember our friendship that we shared once!" He sighed,"I am not
getting this Aarthi, and definitely not liking it at all! I would have asked
you the god damn reason, if the dynamics and you wouldn't have changed…I know
formality is here because, I wanted it and I was the one who told you all that
because I was scared that maybe someday I'll let my feelings take over me and I
cannot do that, because Arpita is the only one I loved and I'll ever love, but
then I didn't realize that you would change so much and you got me wrong, my
saying that I don't want a Husband-wife relationship didn't mean…I never wanted
a friend, ….and I am not liking this change, in fact I am hating it. He said it
all to himself!)
"Yashji..Yashji!" (Waving her hands in front of
him)
"Yaa, I mean, it's Okay, Aarthi and I want to talk
about what happened in the morning, it was not intended and I don't know what
happened, actually I…."
(Putting her hand forward to stop him) "It's
Okay…Yashji, it happens and I am fine! You don't need to worry about me at all"
(With that she was about to leave, when she felt
his fingers curling around her wrist and pull her back with the slight tug,
clearly telling her that "You have no choice, but to listen to me"…she
was forced to turn around and face him.)
"Aarthi, are you having fever?" He said… "Look at
me and answer, no lying will work"
(She looked up at him, and he felt himself getting
drowned in those pools of eyes) "It's just a mild
fever, it will go away…don't worry, I am…"
(Next second, he picked her up in his arms)…
"Yashji!" (She gasped, wide eyed!) "Mild fever, my foot, how mild your
fever is" (He said with full authority and looked at her with
l-know-you-are-lying look.)
"Yashji…I am fine!" (She said in a mild voice.)
"Shut up!"
"But…"
"I know how stubborn you are and how stubborn you
can be, but Mrs Aarthi Yash Scindhiya, you're dealing with me and you know I am
ten times more stubborn then you…. so don't even try."
With that he carried her to the bedroom…

He gently placed her on the bed, and called the
Doctor. They were alone in the Mansion. Kids were in School; Suraj Pratap with
the whole family went to a family wedding and would not be returning back
before 5 days, since Yash had work so he stayed.
He brought a thermometer to check her temperature…
"Keep it in your mouth; I want to make sure everything is okay because I know
how drastic effects your fever can have, on you." He said, pointedly….while she
looked at him in awe!
"Open your mouth, Aarthi…" Irritated, when he felt
her not listening to him.
(She opened her mouth and he placed the
thermometer. He smiled looking at her baby face; she looked so irritated,
nostrils flared. Totally red…. she must be angry…
"Great, at least something is normal!"…he said to himself as he took out the
thermometer)
"Mild fever, Yeah right…its 102" (He said,
frustrated….and angry at her for not taking care of herself.)
Just then Ramdulare informed them about the
Doctor's arrival. Yash told him to send him in.
"I'll just come with the Doctor"

"Hello, Yash, how are you?" (Shaking hands with
him)
"I am fine, Uncle…Actually Aarthi is not."
"Don't worry, she'll be fine…let's go and check"
*********************************************************
"Hey, Aarthi….Yash told me you're not fine, what
happened?"
"Just a mild fever, he is just worrying a bit too
much."
"Its 102, Degrees!" Yash said….looking pointedly at
her.
"102 Degrees temperature is not mild (Looking at
Yash, who gave a knowing look to Aarthi.)… And it's not that bad even. (Looking
at Aarthi with smile, who returned it with a faded one.)
"Anyways, here is the perception, you'll be fine, Aarthi."
"Thanks, Doctor…come I'll escort you!"
"No its fine, Yash…you take care of her."
After the Doctor left……
"That's it, you're not going to get off from bed,
till you get better and even after that…you're not going to exaggerate
yourself!"
"But I said I am fine! I'll be okay and I'll get
bored if I'll sit here all day long"
"Aarthi,no arguments…I"
"What do you mean by no arguments, I can't sit at
one place and you know that…"
(With that she stood up, and was about to go when
he caught her hand and pulled her back to him. Twisting her hand back, at the
same time caring not to hurt her)…"I know that very well, but the
point is…you don't take care of yourself and (Grasping her shoulders.)….I
don't know what has happened to you, Aarthi but seriously I am not going to
take it anymore…You're changed."
"What!!! I am changed, excuse me, Yashji…you told
me on our first night that you have nothing do with me,I am just a mother of
your children"
"I was frustrated that time, dammit everything just
happened out of the blue and I had no idea…I just wanted to say that..(Brushing
his hand through his hair) I don't want a Husband-Wife relation that didn't mean
that I didn't want our friendship and look at you Aarthi, you are changed, I
mean you don't talk to anybody except Payal-Palak…every night you wake up with
a nightmare and then don't sleep at night. You're always lost in your thoughts….and
now you address me as Yashji!"
"Why do you care, hun?"
"Because I…"
(Wide eyed, at what he was about to do and say…he
left her and raised his hands going backwards till he hit the door. He was
about to go…when he came back to her, picked her up…. placed her on the bed and
tucked her in the blanket "I'll get the medicines." He said and
left the room!)
