Hrithik Roshan, whose name has constantly been associated with Shekhar Kapur's film Paani, has reportedly bagged the film.

The insiders say that Hrithik Roshan has finally been confirmed for Shekhar Kapur's ambitious film, which will now be produced by Yash Raj Films. It's even learnt that the actor is openly discussing the film with friends. Right now Hrithik Roshan is in Morocco for the 12th International Film Festival of Marrakech and is obviously excited to bag the project.

As a source tells a tabloid, "Now that Shekhar has finally found a producer in Aditya Chopra, looks like things are now falling into place. Earlier, the director was often rebuked as to who would want to see a project like Paani!"

Shekhar Kapur recently tweeted about the film, "Paani' is a film, but much more. 'Paani' is a passion, but much more. 'Paani' is a mission."

Shekhar Kapur wrote Paani 15 years ago. The film was first announced with Vivek Oberoi in the lead, and later the filmmaker even purportedly approached Ranbir Kapoor. But it seems Ranbir's choc-a-block diary kept him away from Paani.

The film is set in a future world where wars over water have broken out. Water is now owned by international corporations who use thirst as a weapon of control. The film tells the story of a financially poor man, who stealthily visits the elite parts of the city where he comes across a beautiful woman and they fall in love.

Paani will go on floors by mid-2013 and will be shot in India and overseas. It will have music by the Oscar-winning musician A R Rahman and will apparently be made on a budget of $ 30 million

Director Shekhar Kapur has reportedly zeroed in on Hrithik Roshan to play the lead in his most ambitious project Paani. Apparently, the actor has been talking about bagging the project, which was first announced 12 years ago, quite openly at the ongoing Marrakech Film Festival in Morocco.

According to a source: "Now that Shekhar (Kapur) has finally found a producer in Aditya Chopra, looks like things are falling into place. Earlier, the director was often rebuked as to who would want to see a project like Paani!"

The film that will apparently have a budget of $ 30 million is said to star an Indian actor and an overseas heroine.

A source from Morocco said: "Hrithik is openly discussing the film with others. He is obviously excited to get the project. Ranbir Kapoor was also being considered for the role. Guess his packed diary didn't permit him free dates to say yes to Shekhar (Kapur)."

The film, which was first announced with Vivek Oberoi in the lead, essays a time when the world has gone to war over the scarcity of drinking water. International corporations hold water as leverage to control the human population.

The film tells the story of a poor man, who stealthily visits the elite parts of the city where he comes across a beautiful woman and they fall in love.

Bollywood actor Hrithik Roshan will essay the male lead in Shekhar Kapur's 'Paani'

It is confiirmed, actor Hrithik Roshan play lead role in filmmaker Shekhar Kapur's most ambitious project till date, 'Paani'.

Hrithik, who is excited about the project, is openly discussing the film with others at the ongoing Marrakech Film Festival in Morocco.

According to a source, "Hrithik is excited to get the project. Ranbir was also in the buzz as being considered for the role. Guess his packed diary didn't permit him free dates to say yes to Shekhar."

Shekhar Kapur and Yash Raj Films have teamed up for the film 'Paani' to be made with a budget of $ 30 million.

The director, who is credited and known for making films like "Masoom", "Mr India" and "Bandit Queen", has termed his new work "Paani" a mission.

"'Paani' is a film, but much more. 'Paani' is a passion, but much more. 'Paani' is a mission," Kapur tweeted.

As the name depicts "Paani" the story is based on the future wars over water . In the film, water is now owned by International Corporations, who use thirst as a weapon of control.

In one such future city, a young love story breaks all the rules and in the ensuing war, water flows back to its people.

The 66-year-old's ambitious project kept getting delayed until Yash Raj Films came on board, and agreed to be the producers of the film.

'Paani' will go on floors mid-2013 and will be shot in India and overseas. Oscar-winning musician A.R.Rahman will give the music in the film.
