I've watched this one before. I think Chaplin is such an iconic figure worldwide (so are his movies) that somehow 'plagiarize' doesn't sit well in this context. I think pretty much all hardcore Chaplin fans would have recognized that the his scenes have been recreated (like this guy who compiled the video did) Let me put it this way - It's like saying someone plagiarized Micheal Jackson's signature move in a choreography while dancing on his song.

The only thing that truly bothers me is the inspiration from the Notebook. I expect Anurag to give a clarification soon about that.

Lastly, Barfi is bigger than the sum of it's parts. It works in it's entirety, not due to a few scenes. I'll stand by that.

I can't figure out what I feel for this movie. 😆 On one hand, I still love it a lot and on another, I am really disappointed with all the plagiarism. Even if you look at all the physical comedy as homage, there are other scenes from Korean movies/Notebook that has been used as 'inspiration' too. 😔

This is why I didnt like the way the film was hurried to make it to oscars...while the film was still running in theaters(ofcourse for making more money)
but also because other films, esp regional films were far good(or can say better) in originality than these bollywood flicks

I loved the film too...but i guess...i have to let go this thing

@Bold - yes that's exactly what's bothering me too. I really hope the team has a good explanation up it's sleeve, because this isn't reflecting well on them.

Bloody hell!

thats cheating

revise the list!

its embarrassing for India. Original films are original

just the way they have a RULE that if an artist's voice is dubbed he or she cannot be nominated for a National Award same way there should be a rule of no plagiarism for this as well

At least kahani etc were original, This is not even an inspiration from others but a total copy! OMG

It really isn't. Everyday a new 'inspiration' pops up. It is making me sad that all this talk has taken away from the beauty of the movie. Did you see Basu's 'Beautiful people' interview where he said that he isn't genius enough to have original physical comedy? 😆 I wish the anchor had asked him about the other scenes too.
