Okay, so basically what you do is you first go to New, and specify the dimensions of the siggy. Fill the background with the bucket fill tool... Then, you open the pics which you wanna use... Select the free select tool (3rd on the toolbox), and after selecting that tool, you set the feather option to around 10. Simply drag around the pic till it forms a closed path, which means that you've selected that area of the pic... then go to Edit: choose copy. Then you need to switch back to that background you created, and there you go to edit: paste. The same method is applied for all the pics till you've copied and pasted them all onto the background. Then in the Layers tab you see Flatten image. Choose that to merge all the pics together onto the background.
If these instructions are tough to understand since I'm so lame with them, you can check this out, cause it's really simple: http://boitblog.blogspot.in/2007/07/blending-two-images-with-gimp.html
Now to colour the picture, you go to Tools at the top and under that color tools... There you'll see color curves, which basically adjust the brightness of the siggy, and you simply need to drag and experiment to see what you like... To add colouring you can use the Selective color and color balance tools, again experimenting and choosing what colors look good...When that's done, you can add text using the Text tool on the toolbox... Finally save through the File tab in png format.
I'm not sure if this makes sense, but hope this helps!
Of course there are no limits on how many siggies you can send in. The more, the better.
We have also designed a poster and trying to send it. But a friend told us that we cannot rely on SBS because she had once sent gifts to SI and they were never delivered. So we are considering Wassup TV.
