It just a show.

An ordinary tv show...someone who is not engaged with its intricacies would say.
But how extraordinary is its ordinariness can perhaps not be measured by the numerous posts that appear like mushrooms after spring showers seeking reassurance...or the near cardiac arrests one witnesses on the forum...by the mere whiff of a "rumour" of its untimely demise... or perhaps not even by the hours spent by zealous IPKKNDian's analyzing each word...each dialogue...uttered during an episode and each nuance thereof...or by the personal affront felt by each self respecting IPKKNDian when there is any lag in the story /plot of their beloved show...or the bloopers that are showing their ugly heads more than is their wont...or not even by the faithful fight put up by the ardent fans of the male lead in his defence while he was being sorely missed by the entire IPKKND nation...or not even by the equally ardent fans of the female lead for holding up the fort during his absence single handedly.. and no...it cannot even be measured by the wonderful efforts of those few who take out the time to write insightful and intellectual posts in the form of "Redux"*.
To sum it up...to know how the ordinariness of a middle class girl and an upper class boy's love has turned into the extrordinaire that is Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon...one has to just experience it...episode after episode.
You may crib...you may cringe..you may hate the way the "CVs" are destroying "your" show...you may decide not to watch it till it comes back on to track...but hey...whaddya know...you are hooked...you cant live without your daily dose of IPKworld!
But this post is about a little bit more...
Its about those who have created parallel world of Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon...and what an amazing world it is...
They have made their readers laugh...they have made their readers cry...and then they have made their readers laugh and cry...all at the same time...and that my friends is a difficult thing to achieve indeed.
The number of amazing writers on this forum and the number of fantastic pieces just leaves one at a loss of words...and what is even more astounding is the fact that most of these writers may be young.. but their writings vouch for the maturity which is well beyond their years...Not that age guarantees brilliance of course.
So without much ado...here is the IPKKND FF Hall of Fame.

One word to the wise...mature content does not suggest adult content...vis-a-vis sexual and / or violence laden content...it means that a particular piece requires a "reader with a mature mind"..a non judgmental mind"...capable of processing ideas and thoughts that are different..new...not yet explored...perhaps what would require the test of objectivity rather than subjectivity. It is so easy in today's world to judge..after isn't that what put Arnav and Khushi where they are...the labels of "gold digger"..."middle class".."rakshas"..."laad governor"..thats brought days and nights of heartache and joy to the two and endless hours of viewing pleasure to us...and so perhaps we should learn something at least from our pride and joy...our very own IPKKND...and stop judging..while reading.

With deep and most heartfelt respect to each one of the writers...you will note that quite a few pieces have "Mature Content" next to them..this is in deference to the fact that the forum has the 13 year age limit (what i feel about the 13 year age limit is of course for me to know and for no one to guess).
The Hall is Its divided into the following categories'..
THE WORLD OF ISS PYAR KO KYA NAAM DOON
[Fan Fiction which is set within the world of Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon, there may be slight change in the story line and timelines but for the most part the world of IPKKND remains intact and the writers have not taken liberties with the characters or the settings]
[listings are not based on priority]
Second Hand News by Nayika
The brilliance of this piece actually lies in the short bursts of beautiful writing that transports one to the site of the actual event. Just like certain emotions lose their value if reduced to the mundanity of words..in my personal opinion this piece would'perhaps lost its beauty had it gone beyond where the writer so cleverly ended it. Ending it at such a juncture I am sure must have been against popular demand. Kudos to Nayika for not just this piece but also for withstanding the pressure ;) of her ardent fans.
Perfection by Napstermonster
[Mature Content]
Although I hate clichs just as much as the next person'but trust me it is not a clich when I say'"Perfection" is indeed perfection! The transcendence of emotions is palpable with its intensity. This is perhaps one of the best pieces you will find within the IPKNND world'if you are searching for a piece that continues from where the onscreen emotional intensity ends and takes it one notch up. No mean feat for the writer, I might add, to be able to communicate all of this through such a fickle medium as an internet forum.
Colors of the Wind by Meera30
[Mature Content]
So'.boy meets girl'girl meets boy'.they both hate each'or so they think'till they realize its attraction..nay love'and then misunderstandings happen'and lo and behold they are married'that's it in a nutshell'.Right!?! How many spins on that can there be'..! Well you'd be surprised to know'.! Im still counting and filtering'!
But'.but...but...hang on'there is something so very different here'reflections of the past woven into the present'that brings the actual show'what you see on the screen...alive in this piece with the help of lovely flashbacks. Its not only different but its refreshing. And all color coordinated, to boot! [Dear Meera, the comment about color coordination, is not in jest, it is actually a compliment, for your creative touch]
The skill of the author has to be admired.
An Arranged Marriage by Krani
As I said above'so how different do you think it can be'and as I said before'you sure would be surprised!
Krani ki Kahani is special, because of the care and attention to detail with which the author is crafting this tale. You can tell by reading it that there is no hurry here to develop a plot..its a gradual development...so that each character comes out into its own. And what is most enjoyable is the fact that the flavor of IPKKND is not lost at all..you actually feel as if you are reading a written update of an episode that you missed rather than a piece of fiction.

Another version of the IPKKND world...but interestingly different..each player has a (pleasantly) stronger character. I enjoy reading this author's work..(despite the wait)...for the manner in which the characters are developed...the plot unfolds and the consequences of acts...past and present..that are narrated. Perhaps this piece is also enjoyable in a "what could have been" sort of way...the flip side of the coin. I would not give this piece a miss.

SLIDING DOORS
[Fan Fiction which is based on the theme of Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon i.e. the main protagonists are present and may have similar characteristics, but the settings are / maybe different. Additional charters from the world of IPKKND may be present and additional and / or fictional characters may be added]
The Games We Play by Minimuffin86 (better known as Munchy86)
[Mature Content]
This piece appears so relevant in the current Di Chotay strained relationship. Perhaps not my favourite piece by the Muffinmonster'but has to be read'firstly for it is set in the IPKKND world 'and secondly in order to better appreciate Munchy's growth as a writer and the heights she has reached in the short span of 1 year...one has to read it.
Note: I would have preferred to place this in the above category'.as it doesn't really fit in this one..but well'.
Before the Last Sun Sets by Munchy86
[[Mature Content]

Real life is not about pinks pearls and pompoms'its about dirt grit and well'.i suppose'the trademark jalebis'..! A truly enthralling saga of the parallel lives of KKG and ASR'. If you read only one parallel'.well'.what more can I say. It will be very hard to forget this ASR'he has been immortalized by the Muffinmonster.
Filigreed Sun by Serial Junkie
[Mature Content]
Oh how I wish the lovely Serial Junkie would expand her repertoire (if I am missing something my dear SJ, my most humble apologies indeed).
Not because I would shun the Filigreed Sun'no chance of that'.but simply because I cant wait to read more by a writer who would spin such a fine gossamer web'.here a thread of passion'there a thread of intrigue'a simple knot of secrets untold'all kept afloat by that ole' devil called love...but not as you would normally recognize him ;)
Pandora's Box by Munchy86
https://munchyspandorasbox.wordpress.com/2012/05/10/chapter-one-the-mango-grove/
[[Mature Content]
Yet another brilliant offering by the Muffinmonster'(the muffin basket floweth). This is a truly remarkable piece but not for the faint hearted. The pictures of a bygone era drawn by the author's words are vivid and crisp'coloured by the hues of raw emotion flowing through the entire piece'whether it be the joy of first love or the pain of separation. It is difficult to decide as to which chapter would be ranked as the best'each new offering outdoes the previous one.
Rules of Attraction by Mistyrains
[Mature Content]
The beauty of Rules of Attraction lies in the sense of serenity that pervades (what I would consider) the first half of this wonderful piece'and equally beautiful is the chaos that tears that serenity asunder. This piece will always be special for me for it transported me to my beloved Delhi..you can feel the sights and sounds that are so integral to the City of Djinns.
Mirage by Molten Lava
[Mature Content]
Lava Girl just astounds me with each chapter. This is no fairy tale of just simple and sweet Rabba Ves'it's the story of life...being written while it is being lived'or so you feel when you read it. But than you feel perhaps its not a story, really'rather it feels more like a daily dose of the memoirs of a sweet innocence and love'.in a world of dark deeds and even darker consequences.
Twist of Fate by Mistyrains
There is a sense of uncluttered simplicity in Mistyrains' writing that communicates even the most complex emotions without complicating it with unnecessary words'which is so the element of Arnav and Khushi's relationship. And this particular piece showcases this most profoundly.
It takes a special kind of writer to pull the transportation trick..to pick you up'from the narrow confines of your mundane world'wherever it maybe and transport you to another world'.and each writer featured here has that capability in truckloads!!!! I realize I am digressing but every time I think of transportation I cant help but think of one of such writer'perhaps not too well read'that is the queen of transporting you to a colonial India'M. M. Kaye. It's a shame she is just known for her Far Pavilions'for she is at her transportational best in Shadow of the Moon.

*On an aside...I salute thee brave Reduxians...you to me are the Amir Khan of the IPKKND Forum and Redux is Satyamev Jayate...how ironical that you actually had a post with this very title! For when the whole forum is going ballistic with a spoiler alert...you are saying "breathe in...breathe out...be calm..life shall prevail"...and that too in the most intellectual and informative way possible...you have indeed added enormously to my pea-sized intellect...so brave Tanthya...and Doodles..albeit that this is post is not about Redux..but since you too are writers in your own right then how can one not mention you.
TS Note: I feel perhaps a clarificatory note is in order...I started watching Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon way after it had soared to the heights of fandom...so I caught up with all past episodes in a mad manic rush.
In keeping with the flavour of IPKKND in my life...I also missed the train called Fan Fiction and bought the ticket well after it had made several trips round the entire IPKKND universe...nonetheless as they say "Dair aye durast aye"...so I am catching up / have caught up with numerous "keepers" (if I may be so permitted to say).
And this is my tribute to you Dear FF writers...for what you have given me...and I am sure to countless others...red rimmed eyes and sleepless nights till we finish the last chapter and heartburn waiting for the next installment...well lets leave the jest aside and talk about what you have really given us...a world within a world...the chance of reading such amazing writers...of hearing such fascinating tales...of exploring the possibilities that we would perhaps never see on our tv screen (and some that we surely will never see on our tv screen ;)). So thank you.
I intend...or rather hope...that I will be able to update this on as regular a basis as life would permit.
I have one request for the writers featured above...if you feel so inclined...could you perhaps add the links to your writing index...there may be others like me who may want to read everything written by a particular author...and it is such a drag trying to search for your works.

DISCLAIMER

After a rather embarrassing incident today, this disclaimer has become necessary. The actual listings for Iss Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon Hall of Fame, Notable Mentions, OS Gallery or Give It a Read will be clearly listed as such. Any piece recommended by a reader is a recommendation by that particular reader (which is most appreciated indeed) and such a recommendation does not automatically grant it a listing in either of the above listed categories. It also does not mean that I have an opinion on the same unless its clearly stated in black and white on a post with my name on it. Apologies for the bluntness but Id much rather be blunt upfront than embarrassed and sheepish later, like i had to be today.

Author's Recommendations by Nayika
The below are Nayika's recommendations of her writings:

FF: Temporary Insanity

My personal favourite FF just because it was so much fun to write and although all the characters are the same and recogniseable, the setting is just slightly different in order to provide more comedy :)

SS: 6 Din, Ladki In!

Short, sweet and probably the first piece of work I did that had the same characters but was completely unrelated to the storyline on the show.

Half-Empty or Half Full?

Can't really explain why I like this one, it just always stands out to me :)

OS: World of Our Own

I just love all the reactions that this OS got :D

OS: Main Hoon Na

Another short scene that just think was cute.

OS: Stupid Boy

One of my favourite OS's to date even though I only wrote a third of the content finding the appropriate quotes was hard.

I Have Dreams To Remember

Just exactly how I imagine the character of Arnav would have reacted when finding out about Shyam and Khushi rather than the way he did.

But thanks. Yayy!

BTW, whenever you call me as Lava Girl, I feel like one of those Marvel comics super heroes or some Xmen character.😛
