@sami... if ur busy do u want me 2 do part of the thread...?

Today marks a very important day... 11th July marks the day where the entire world comes together to promote a healthy and equality lifestyle among every living being in this world, be it poor, rich, man or woman, all have the right to live a healthy lifestyle with EQUAL opportunities.

A day which is highlights a good cause and many encourage it, but just how many truly follow it? Ok, we will stop beating around the bush and introduce an important international event

"WORLD POPULATION DAY LOGO"

World population day was originally founded by United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). The main purpose of UNFPA is to support (in particular) developing countries in gaining control over their population rates and reducing poverty by raising the awareness of population data and facilities available to prevent unwanted pregnancies.

Every child is blessing so why should one child living in a developed country have access to a better lifestyle while another child in a developing country fights a battle against the world and life just to live on another day?

If every child is a blessing and equal then why are there millions of children dying everyday due to poverty and starvation? Don't you think its time we did something to prevent this? You all must be wondering "well what could i do?" the answer is simple... lots.. there is so much you can do... Join in with this year's theme of:

Universal Access to Reproductive Health Services (logo???)

The lack of access to Reproductive Health Services has been the leading cause for ill health and deaths for childbearing women across the world. Therefore the UNFPA has developed a long term vision to raise the awareness of reproductive health services to developing countries and deliver universal access to reproductive health services by 2015. Its a long term vision which can't be fulfilled without YOUR help.

Do you little bit by taking part in campaigns which raise awareness in areas such as family planning, poverty and human rights. Put posters up in your local community and advertise any local events on Facebook and Twitter. Together we can make a difference!

Facts

An estimated 222 million women in developing countries want to avoid pregnancies but lack access to modern contraceptives. Did you know, if this need was met, 53 million fewer pregnancies would take place annually and 100,000 fewer maternal deaths would occur. What a difference that could make to the overgrowing world population? And this is achievable if only modern contraceptives were provided in developing countries.

the leading cause of maternal deaths include bleeding, infections and unsafe abortions, all which are treatable/preventable if only they had access to modern health services.

Almost half of all women in developing countries deliver their babies without any medical assistance i.e. doctor/midwife

Approximately 19 million unsafe abortions take place annually in developing countries which result in 47,000 women losing their lives.

Every year, 10-15 million women suffer long lasting illnesses caused by complicated child birth, hence more than 300 women live with disabilities.

All these facts highlight one important factor... they all could be preventable if only they had access to modern health facilities...so if they can be prevented...why aren't they being prevented?

Reasons why families avoid modern contraception/health services

Some people (due to religious/cultural beliefs) believe contraception should NOT be used as they believe a child is born from God's will and if they use contraception, they will be interefering in God's will, which is wrong

In countries like UK, the "Child Benefits" service provides families with financial support to raise their children, so families feel, the more children, the more money they can claim from the government.

Some women fear using contraception may leave them infertile or cause problems in the future when they are ready to have children

sami...here's my part... u can probably add more stuff to it if u like... and mayb sumwer include the china's one child policy as a way 2 encourage tht it wudnt hav been possible if every1 didnt cum 2geva... so if they can make it possible by forming unity then we should form unity in raising awareness of these issues...

The strict enforcement of one child policy of China has many disadvantages but it is a example to world that if will is there
we can achieve a lot.
