Hi Sayanee.
Welcome to the forum :) even though it is the fag end of the show.
Just yesterday I was thinking of Shrikant and the "Karonde ki mala" and then "main tumhaare paise lauta doonga, badi bahu" - was that Charitraheen or Biraj Bahu?
I too read Sharat and Tagore in my early teens. Unfortunately, haven't renewed my acquaintanceship with them after that.
My mom was a big fan of Sharat and I've always been meaning to buy the full set of Sharat's works for her. Perhaps the next occasion that comes up I'll do that. I've tried gifting her sarees, perfumes, jewelry, handbags, shoes - nothing meets her approval. Maybe this will. Thanks for the lovely reminder.
I got acquainted with Hindu mythology through Chandamama magazine. The first mythological story I read was the Ramayan that was serialized in that. Then when I was 10 Mom bought my first Saral Mahabharat and Saral Bhagwat for kids and later a set "Pauranik Kathayen".
Like you did your first reading in Bengali, for me it was Hindi. So reading your post was like looking into a mirror image to a large extent.
Later of course I got introduced to English literature and that has been the mainstay of my life ever since. Also because I grew up in a non-Hindi speaking state so it was a trifle difficult to keep up with the literature of my native language.
But do share with us what you are reading currently or any other book you would like to share or discuss.
Sayanee - can you share the name of either the author of the book or the exact name of the book. Tough to even Google it otherwise.
