Superstar Amitabh Bachchan is slated to act in a movie about an old, married couple rediscovering love at the age of sixty.
The sexagenarian Bollywood star has given his nod to filmmaker Shoojit Sircar's next project titled Johnny Walker . Shoojit made his directorial debut last year with the critically acclaimed movie Yahaan .
The story of 'Johnny Walker' will trace a man's life from adolescence to old age. It will talk of his 25 years of marriage with his wife. It will also explore the couple's rediscovering of love in their later years.
Shoojit Sircar is thinking of signing Vidya Balan for one of the female leads in the film. If signed for the part, Balan will share some important sequences with Bachchan.
Although Sircar is tightlipped about giving details on the movie's unusual title, he does assert that 'Johnny Walker' will be "a commercial venture with a global appeal because of its universal subject."
Sircar says he had Amitabh Bachchan in his mind for the leading role while writing the movie's script.
In the past, Sircar and Amitabh have worked together in a number of advertisements. When Sircar spoke to Bachchan about the movie, the superstar showed interest but did not give his consent right away. It was only after Sircar discussed the script time and again with him, did the Big B give his nod for the project.
What more, Bachchan is looking forward to co-produce the film along with Percept Picture Company.
'Johnny Walker' is the first film Amitabh has signed after his illness. In the last few months, he has been completing his pending projects including Ravi Chopra's Babul , Vidhu Vinod Chopra's Eklavya , Ram Gopal Varma's Nishabd and a Bhojpuri film titled 'Ganga'.
