Sweet, sunny, bright, fiery and... Needy?

I always wondered if that word described Khushi, since she is the eternal pleaser in the show, never at peace till she's sure everyone around her is smiling and happy. But is it really because she likes to bring others happiness, or is it her insecurities playing out? She is just not able to tolerate anyone showing even the slightest disapproval towards her, or being annoyed at her in anyway. Because, this girl craves attention (and by that I don't mean she's some cheap attention seeking wh***) but more a lost soul who because of her past, looks anywhere, and everywhere for love, and approval.

In the show right now, putting aside that she is remaining mind bogglingly silent about her forced marriage, Khushi is being portrayed as a young girl who is suddenly desperate for forgiveness. She is no longer viewing her marriage as something she did because she was blackmailed, but because it was in some way her fault. Is Khushi the eternal martyr? Willing to take on the responsibilities of everyone around her just so she can find approval and love from those same people? If so, then her character is even MORE tortured than that of Arnav's, who for the most part has a pretty intact family, many of whom within that family love him (in their own odd ways) and seem to eventually accept whatever he does, albeit unwillingly. The fact that he remains indifferent to most of them, except his sister is besides the point, so it's not like he doesn't have a support system in place should he need one. Yet, the show is portraying him as a man who needs the love of a woman to "heal" his tortured soul, and if that is the case, then shouldn't the woman be a little stronger?

Khushi yesterday reminded me of a little puppy, who even if it's left alone and starving all day, will still bounce around trying to lick it's owners's face when the owner arrives. That's what she did when she saw her sister in the kitchen, and then Bua. That little puppy look of "I ripped your favorite socks, but *lick lick lick* I love you, and do you love me? Do you love me? *yelp yelp* You kicked me, but here I am again *lick lick* ) - That's NOT an emotionally strong woman. And, while it does show that the puppy will grow up to be a very loyal pet, (or if it's beaten enough a snarling, vicious beast) is that what Arnav needs in his life? Someone who will take it all and still try to win his approval and love? He's a smart man, and surely after seeing all her ongoing pain he has an inkling that something is not right? And, since she knows nothing about his reasons, she should "logically" be running into the arms of her "lover" for comfort (who himself is the WEIRDEST obsessive psycho I've ever seen. I mean dude... the time you should be going completely nuts is at the thought of your "obsession" in the arms of her new husband. I thought nothing was going to stop you? Or do the males in this show only show their arrogance with weak females?)

I don't mind the hate track if there has to be one... But, I'd like some deeper character traits to come out in the show. *sigh* Such a waste of two marvelous actors. Wishful thinking, I know.

Just some rambling thoughts, no negativity, no bashing and everything else people are accusing others of these days if anyone so much as attempts to discuss the show/characters. Two complicated leads in the show, and I figured the female one could do with a little analyzing as well. The male lead... Well, he's gorgeous and we can love him and feel his anguish tomorrow. 😆

What Arnav needs is a woman who can meet his on equal grounds, and that is none other than Khushi. She has been the only one person apart from anjali to point out his faults and to an extent that was the beauty that made him fall for her. Her ability to cope with him, not let him take her for granted and still be happy with him. It was an understanding that had developed between the two, both walked an extra mile for each other because they wanted too.

But where they stand today, Khushi should not seek his approval or love, what she should do is, tit for tat. if he wants to play games than she should strike back also, being the husband doesn't by default make Arnav her master that she needs to seek his permission to do something. The sheer beauty of these two were that they could come together against all odds and that is what should happen now. Khushi first needs to seek out her own pride and use that against arnav and set right to what is wrong. And if after that they come together its beautiful.

She needs to be the strong khushi who knew what self respect meant, who knew how to fight for it, the whole weak card is not settling well.

btw beautiful topic :)

I am sick of Khushi's tears. I am sick of her begging for forgiveness. I am sick of her silence in the face of unwarranted criticism when the guy who has done it all walks away leaving her to bear the brunt of it!

I am also sick of the shouting matches of Arnav & Khushi cos they just seem to be making noise and are not leading anywhere. The story is not progressing. Hell, Shyamu was missing for a couple of episodes. I was expecting him to sharpen a knife for Arnav who stole his girl, and the CVs made him take a break?

Arnav's brain seems to have joined the long line of the educated unemployed. When on earth is its potential going to be fully utilised? He is supposed to full of dimaag. It is supposed to be his prized possession. All his decisions are made by this famous dimaag of his. So how come, the viewers have seen no sign of it in 8 bl***** months?

I wish I could knock the heads of the leads together. Or should I be doing this to the guys who are planning & plotting behind the scenes?

So bloody true, Anne di!! Yesday, when she was doing all those things in front of 'payalia', i was like, why are they showing her like this, just two days back, she was like 'haar nahin manenge hum', but does that mean she's okay with going to any length for being accepted by the family?? True, two brilliant actors.. going waste!

Anne I have totally lost it. Is this show about star crossed lovers or it is supposed to be a tortured SP saas bahu story? I signed up for a Nafrat bhari prem kahani , not this CRAP.
Khushi is crying like anything, Arnav making faces all the time seeing this and That's all. Mami taunting, Payal fidgeting and Nani looking embarrassed. All her life she never liked Mami but now it seems she is fully supporting her all the time and even joined her on several occasions.
I was waiting for this hate track but now it has turned into pure torture. ASR has become completely dumb and he is the main reason I was attracted to IPK.
Looks like tomorrow is again Rona dhona. I am tired of this track.

HI,
You raise a very interesting point as to What does Khushi seek ?
She seeks acceptance. Her need to belong as she is so often reminded by her adopted family. Her philosophy of forget the bad and remember the good fuels her Never die attitude. She needs people around her and people take to her naturally. A point to note that she has never gone out of her way to impress the Riazada's or La and mami though the latter is still to be converted.
In my opinion she is emotionally stronger than Arnie coz she takes a positive route to solve her problems Vs Arnie who falls apart at the thought of being left alone without his Di and now Khushi. If you think Arnie has a support system in his sis Khushi has one in her Devi maiyya who she believes in implicitly.
All Khushi needs is a clear signal that she is wanted and she will be yours forever. Something which Arnie still has to get and learn.

See the problem is the creatives want to stretch the drama out and have it last years and torture the audience by never actually solving anything, but instead just creating new issues. Thats the problem with indian dramas.

Beautiful topic dear...actually quite interesting the observations that you have put across...I'll try to be brief and share my views...coz I agree on some and disagree on few but at the end like the CVs we all are confused 😕

Firstly first, this show is about damaged and flawed characters - Khushi,Anjali & Arnav being the top on the list - but somehow thats the reason y we all have been able to discuss, analyse and empathise or even disappointed with these characters !!!
All three have loads of insecurities and self-complexities to deal with (wont touch Anjali-Arnav here btw there r couple of interesting insights into them both by Elysia in her post) !!!
Khushi on the upfront comes a very easy-going bouncing back caring and happy girl but like you rightly said she has lots of layers...
i) We dont knw the past much but if she would hv had to come at the impressionable age of 8 and adapt to a new family - the girl would have had faced issues - from struggling to get acceptance by the new relations to winning their love to accepting that they are her family - thats y she is trying to hold onto any straw to win them back - she has lost parents once, second time like she told Arnav in the hospital she cant afford to in no ways...no one can feel that pain unless they have been in a similar situation (thts y though Arnav is mad at her,he understands her family- point so much and thts y he melts or even used it against her to get his benefit !!!)
ii) Payal is her sister - she can relate to her sister's anger but cant accept her ignorance...she cnt tell her reasons but tht doesnt mean she cn let the relation slip by so easily...some bonds are not based on just calculative logics - we dont maintain Profit & Loss statements in relations that make or break us - when the winds are against us,it is on us to change their direction...thats wat Khushi is trying to do here (it wasnt easy for her to crack jokes, her eyes had the tears...but it was the only way she knew hw she can ease her sister like we hv seen before)
iii) She has seen both sides of ASR/Arnav - one she hated, one she fell in love with...its a tug of war for her emotions...he has always been blowing hot & cold...remember the time when Arnav was being after her and half the Forum was angry at her y she is not understanding his adavances - so its been the same, she tries hard to get herself detached coz she knows the effect he has on her emotions and the worse way she gets affected when he walks out at times...For her marriage has been a dream, and she suddenly got ruthlessly catapulted into the situation when she though he was in love with her - for us its been two weeks 😉 but for the character's POV just a matter of few days - one moment he was loving her,the next moment stampeding her - its been amazing that admist all the negative wind she has still not hesitated to state it out for him by the pool "u not even worth of the love" (he heard it which he feared...)
So lots of insecurities and storm riding over her at the moment...she still has to grasp the sitiation entirely to bounce back - yes,she needs the family and everyone to be for her - but in another sense coz she too fears and cant stand to loose them again...and from her man she wants to hear the truth - thts y yesterday's bangle scene - she was trying to relate was it just few nights before he got those bangles and so much passion ...then wat has happened all of a sudden...so more than Arnav she'll handle it better when the truth comes out - she is a nomal, sensible yet amazingly positive and strong girl (lest not forget from the meagre background and limited means the character comes from...she has not hv education and exposure to think like us !!!)
Moreover,I still believe Arnav is lot weaker than her...he is more insecure...more vulnerable with his emotions - thats y when the truth comes out he'll go into deeper shell coz he doesnt hv the easy strength of khushi to bounce back...
But yes the only problem,CVs need to be little more consistent and now when they have establised the love-hate war,its high time they put a closure to this level and move on to the next - we all hoping they are going to meet the Friday deadline...
P.S. sorry for the ranting, had sm time off in the office🥱

Hey,
I dont think Khushi trying to reconcile with Payal is wrong. From Payal's point of view, Khushi is wrong for marrying like the way she did. When everyone was against Khushi on the wedding day, Payal was still hopeful and knew that Khushi did all that for a reason, hence she asked her. But she never told her anything. The girl who told everything to her jiji (as we have seen previously in the show) was not giving her a reason. She is mad at Khushi for all that, but this doesn't mean she stopped loving her little sister. Khushi knows that whatever her and Arnav did was wrong, even though it was for a reason. But its still wrong. we as audiences know the reason, but the characters don't. the whole family would have happily accepted Khushi and Arnav if Arnav told them that he wants to get married to Khushi and they prob would have got them married the next day. But its the way the whole thing played out. Both of them didnt give anyone any reason and thats whats hurting the family most. Im sure Bhuaji would have been happy if Khushi and Arnav got married properly, its just the way they got married and on top of that no one knows the reason. I am sure none of them in their wildest dreams would think that Arnav would blackmail Khushi like that. They are all mad at Khushi and Arnav equally. And sadly in our society, a girl's family ends up suffering more in these kind of situations that a guy's family, and thats why Gupta family is more hesitant towards forgiving both of them. Its no ones fault, its just the situation's fault. I am sure they will feel bad for all this once they know the truth. But right now, its reasonable for them to be mad at them. and to think about it, its only been less than a week since this whole thing happened, so for them not to be mad at Khushi and Arnav would be very unrealistic. I believe the only one at fault here is ASR, who should suffer the most when the thruth comes out.
This was just my opinion, not trying to hurt anyone's feelings 😊

SO TRUE! This is all so irritating now. I just don't think I can deal with it anymore. Hate track would be okay, but this mental torture is just dumb.
