Music maestro Ilayaraja's wife passes away
Veteran Tamil music director Ilayaraja's wife Jeeva today died following a heart attack, hospital officials said.
60-year-old Jeeva suffered a cardiac arrest following which she was rushed to the Apollo Hospital where she was declared brought dead, they said.

60-year-old Jeeva suffered a cardiac arrest following which she was rushed to the Apollo Hospital where she was declared brought dead, they said.
She is survived by Ilayaraja, sons Yuvan Shankar Raja and Karthik Raja and daughter Bhavatharini.

Chennai: Jeeva (60), wife of veteran music director Illayaraja , died in a Chennai hospital late on Monday. According to family sources, Jeeva complained of chest pain and was taken to Apollo Hospital at 9.30pm. Hospital sources said she died of a heart attack around 11pm. Illayaraja, who is in Hyderabad, is expected to reach Chennai only on Tuesday morning.
Jeeva underwent a bypass surgery five years ago following heart problems. Family sources said the body would be taken to Pannaipuram village in Theni district for the last rites. Jeeva has two sons -Karthik Raja and Yuvan Shankar Raja (both music directors ) -- and one daughter, Bhavatharini (singer and music director).
