Australia Tourism Ropes Indian TV Show For Promotion

By: Mayank Gupta| | Viewed: 52 | Published in Travel News|
Australia tourism is counting on Indian TV Show to lure more tourists from India. The Balaji Television show Bade Acche Lagte Hain will be shot in Australia. Tourism Officials are counting on the show to help ailing Australian tourism industry.

Bade Acche Lagte Hain
The show that stars Ram Kapoor and Saakshi Tanwar started few months back but immediately grabbed eyeballs in India. Today the show has over 42 million viewers, which makes it one of the top 10 shows in India.

Soon the team of "Bade Acche Lagte Hain" will travel to Australia to shoot some episodes of the show. The stars of the show will be shown taking their honeymoon in Sydney. Australia tourism officials are looking at this opportunity to woo more honeymoon travelers from India. However this would be very difficult job since Switzerland has been Indians preferred honeymoond destination for past couple of decade.

New South Wales tourism in particular is very excited because India is 11th biggest market for the state. Considering the fact that India will become one of the top inbound market for Australia by 2020 worth $2.25 billion, the excitement around the show is understandable.

Some experts believe that such promotional stunt by Australia have more to do with improving image in India. Australia's image in India has taken a beating after series of attacks on Indians students in 2009. Some experts believe that racial attacks are major roadblock for Australian tourism to penetrate deep in the Indian market.

Australian tourism industry ailing???

My two cents... Australia may not be as popular among the Indian holiday makers and yeah, it'll be good to lure people... BUT to say a "Tourism Officials are counting on the show to help ailing Australian tourism industry" is a bit preposterous, no? it's a show after all and we do host heaps of international events and people fly in to enjoy a host of others things here 😉... I'd say Australia is an acquired taste ...
