Karisma has been no.1 in her era, but in the 90's no one maintained stuff, everyone had their years, mid 90's it was compettition between Karisma and Kajol, one year they lead, and the next year the other one did! one year Karisma won, on year Kajol won, one year Karisma's movie did well, next year Kajol's did, that is how they became friends, they did not care, both got there share of recognition! however people forget about Karisma, because of her ridiculous 9yrs break!

Madhuri took a break, but no one forgot about her.

Karishma hasn't done a new movie but she's appeared in TV shows, I beleive Nach Baliye, refreshing herself in the public eye

Madhuri came in 1983, and then after her break did movies like 'devdas' and 'aaja nachle', Karisma started in 1991, finished 2003, and then took like a 9yr break! that does matter!

@Nkapoor: What are you talking about????? Karishma was never number one. I was alive and kicking in the 90s during Madhuri's, Kajol's reign. So I do remember how it went down then. 😆

All Karishma did was all those Govinda films. Nobody even took her seriously until Raja Hindustani and DTPH happened. But then again Kajol had already had her DDLJ in 95 when KK had her Raja Hindustani in 96..so obviously all the attention was still on Kajol. DTPH in 97 was never as big as KKHH in 98. Karishma's career never had a chance at no. 1 because as soon as Kajol/Madhuri settled down with marriage, Rani, Priety and Aishwarya appeared on the scene. Thats why she resorted to doing Fiza, Zubeida, Shakti in the near end of her career before getting hitched. She knew her time had come to an end. That btw at least according to me was good move on her part. At least she went away with good roles that people could remember.

This isn't some old story of the past passed onto me by my parents. I know my 90s.😆

Only Kajol and Karishma ruled the 90s?? What happened to Madhuri? Madhuri and Kajol were the 2 ruling actresses of the 90's.

Madhuri might have debuted in 1983, but nobody cared about her until Tezaab happened in 1988. Then she solidified her #1 status with films like Ram Lakhan, Dil, Beta, Saajan, and the baap of all movies: HAHK ---all in the late 80's to early 90's. Her career started facing a slump post 1996. By then Kajol was ruling/ruled with DDLJ, KKHH, Gupt, PTHHT, etc.
