Recap
Saroj tells Bhanu she wants Mohan back home at any cost. Jassuben and Kastur in the meantime share a sweet moment talking about waiting for the one you love. Mohan returns from a night out partying drunk and lets it slip that he eats eggs in London. Bhanu reminds Baapji of the fact that he had offered Mohan-Kastur wedding in lieu of the money Jitu spent on Mohan. Realising that he will be breaking his word to Jitu, Baapji agrees to let Mohan return. In the meantime Kastur goes to the temple and Mohan is jogging, and Mohan brushes past her as she is leaving the temple.
Short Update
1. Kastur encounters Mohan but does not recognize him.
2. Mohan is buying a cigarette when he gets a call from Saroj; Saroj tells him the his chances of coming home are slim because Baapji has already found out about him being in Mumbai.
3. Bhanu tells everyone that Mohan can return; Saroj is suspicious.
4. Kastur is fooled by her whole family into believing that Mohan has come to her room.
5. Mohan goes back to the house, greets everyone and sees Baapji.
6. To Baapji's shock, Mohan hugs him and calls him Granddad.
7. Baapji complains and rants while Mohan stands there, smiling.
8. Bhanu asks him why he had to do that. Mohan replies that he wanted to see Baapji's reaction, and that he knows exactly how to manaofy him.
9. Mohan shows Baapji his MBA degree.
Detailed Update
Part I
The episode opens with Kastur looking at the jogger who brushed past her and wonders if it is Mohan. The jogger stops at a paan ki dukkan and asks for a particular brand of cigarette, and the shopkeeper tells him it isn't available. Mohan replies that any other brand will do. Kastur chides herself for thinking that Mohan would enter such a place, justifying to herself that 'Kanti Gala's pota' (Pleeease Kastur, don't remind us 😔) would never touch cigarettes or any other form of tobacco.
Mohan is smoking and receives a call from Saroj in the meantime. She asks him how he is and then asks if he has talked to his father yet. Mohan replies that he has, and that Bhanu sounds very stressed. Saroj tells him that Bhanu wants to meet him as badly as she does but that Baapji has found out that Mohan is in Mumbai and that Bhanu is now trying to convince Baapji to let him return. She spots Bhanu coming out of Baapji's room and hurriedly keeps the phone. Mohan, not happy with this turn of events, asks for another cigarette.
In the meantime the family is waiting impatiently outside Baapji's room, and pounce on Bhanu the moment he comes out. Bhanu smiles and tells everyone that Baapji has agreed to let Mohan return. Everyone in the family is delirious with excitement: Kannu (Disco Boy finally has a name! 😆) says "Dad you rock!" and is halfheartedly quietened by the rest of his family members. Narmada exclaims that Mohan will be seeing their son for the first time. Reena, Mohan's cousin, is literally bursting with joy because she and Mohan have always been best friends and decides to keep a party for him where she'll make dhoklas (Dream on, Reena baby 😆). Kirti decides that they'll prepare for some good item for the party as well. In the middle of all this, Saroj notices how tense Bhanu looks and realises that something isn't right.
Saroj asks Bhanu how he managed to convince Baapji so easily. Bhanu tells her that he appealed to him by saying that Mohan is his flesh and blood and part of the house, and that Baapji softened - after all, Baapji has a heart too (No wonder Saroj didn't believe you 🤣). Saroj asks him if he is keeping something from her. Bhanu tells her that what's important is that Mohan is back in the house, and she shouldn't be thinking about how it came about. Saroj is still not convinced, and resolves to find out what is really going on.
Part II
The scene shifts to the Desai house, where Kastur is entering home with prasad. She gives Sonal prasad, but Sonal doesn't say a word to her after taking it. Nor do Pradeep, Jitu, Nattu or Shardha, and when she gives it to Jassuben the latter woman takes the prasad and leaves immediately. Confused, Kastur asks why everyone is avoiding her and apologizes for offending anyone. Jassuben tells her she has arrived late and that Mohan is waiting in her room, and Kastur sprints all the way upstairs just to meet him (CVs...please...cut the running...poor thing, do you have to make her do exercise WHILE she's shooting too?? ) The family has a hearty laugh as soon as she is out of their sight.
Kastur searches and searches, but can't find him, and realises that he was never in the room to start with, and the rest of the family come into her room and tease her by telling her that Mohanji IS in front of her, pointing to the Krishna idol 😆 Jassuben tells Kastur she expected her to be wildly happy but not go THIS nuts over him. She then tells Jitu to call up Bhanu so that Kastur can finally meet Mohan.
Mohan is seen waiting outside the door, while everyone is making preparations for his entry. Kannu produces a bouquet to give to him, stating that phoren mein everyone welcomes people in this way. He adds that this should be kept out of Baapji's sight. The entire family is skittering around as Mohan might be arriving any moment. Saroj smiles seeing how happy the family is, but wonders what Baapji will say. Mohan smiles and says he knows that Baapji won't talk to him at all. Bhanu cautions him that no matter what Baapji may say to him, he should not speak. Mohan sighs and says okay, and then shouts out 'Hello everybody'. Happy to see him, they all crowd around Mohan to meet him, fighting to be the first to talk.
Narmada begins by doing aarti on him, and Mohan retorts that he has returned from London, not from a battlefield. Kirti tells him that he hasn't come from a battlefield but he's going to one, with Baapji 😆. Mohan raises his eyebrows at this, when Kannu bursts in with his bouquet, calling him Bhai. Mohan tells him to cut the 'bhai' and hugs him. Bhanu in the meantime asks Kannu to get Mohan's belongings from their car and Kannu happily agrees. Reena then steps forward and asks him whether she should call him Bhai or Bro. He tells her that whatever she calls him, she will always remain his Di, and then teases her about gaining weight. Reena pretends to be offended and then hugs him and tells him how much she missed him.
Vipul then adds that he missed him too, and Mohan sees Tilu of the first time. Vipul hugs him and then starts singing Saala Tu Toh Saab Ban Gaya..and Baapji enters when Vipul sings jaisa chhora koi London ka (What timing 🤣). With this, Mohan turns around to face Baapji for the first time in ten years.
Mohan walks slowly towards Baapji, and the two exchange a very tense eyelock...when suddenly Mohan grins and hugs him, calling him grandpa and telling him he loves him (Must watch scene...the way he suddenly DOES that after looking so grim I fell off my bed laughing 🤣). Everyone is horrified, and Baapji becomes violently angry, and says that he has become grandpa from Baapji, and wonders aloud whether Bhanu is now dead instead of Pitaji 😆 He says that in English you have always been murdered, and that in HIS house he now has an Englishman! (All this while, HC's expressions as Mohan are killer...throughout this entire tirade Mohan doesn't say a word, because he never even has to, yaar without any weapons this guy has already won the battle!! 🤣) He explains that Mohan was filled with sanskaar when he had left, and all those sanskaars have now been trampled to the ground. He tells Mohan that he has now become a gora and tells Narmada that she should do his aarti in English too 🤣 He leaves exclaiming at the name Mohan has given him.
Bhanu then goes to Mohan, who is still smirking, and asks him why he had to do that. Mohan replies that he wanted to see what reaction this action of his would get. Bhanu replies that he hasn't thought of what reaction the family has to face and complains that today's children don't care to listen to their parents. Mohan tells Bhanu to 'chill' and admits that he didn't listen to Bhanu very carefully, but that he knows now what to do next. With a sense of determination, Mohan tells Bhanu that he knows how to get Baapji around, and how much attitude Baapji himself has...after all -- he is his grandson. Finally he tells Bhanu not to worry - HE will fix it 👍🏼
Part III
This segment begins with Mohan entering Baapji's room with a degree certificate in his hand. Bhanu, Saroj and Reena are close behind. He takes Baapji's hand and puts the certificate in it, telling him that this is the MBA degree he has received in London, and that the first person to have the right to see it is Baapji himself. Bhanu adds that while he has studied abroad, Mohan has not forgotten his sanskaar and that fact that he is an Indian. Mohan adds that he would like Baapji's blessings. Baapji does not answer.
Precap: The promo where Kastur plans to give Mohan a peacock feather and Mohan tells Saroj that he doesn't want a typical 'Gujju' party, ending on Kastur seeing Mohan for the very first time.
Episode Rating: 8.5/10. FANTASTIC episode!! A must-watch, especially for Mohan's return and the Mohan-Baapji faceoff!
