Stands by her, turns her around and gathers her in his arms, cups her face and asks her " Did you fast for me? What an incredible thing to do Khanak!" (softly)

"I did it for the gifts" she says shaking her bangled wrist to reveal her Rolex, he bursts out laughing

"Dadi gave me a watch, and Mom this jewelry"

"That's great!" he says smiling

Khanak: (fingering the croc on his Lacoste tee) You were supposed to wear your wedding outfit also.

Shaan: I wore it one time for you Khanak, that's it!

Khanak: Does that mean you wont remarry or wont wear it again?

They both look at each other intensely "What do you think?" he says

Khanak: Wont wear it again?

Shaan: You are a troublemaker! (pushing a lock of hair behind her ear)

She leans on his chest and he holds her tight

Shaan: Shouldn't you change, we have to go eat

Shaan does not get it, though she stiffens and tries to move away

Shaan: Must be Hari lal, I asked him to bring some food from the terrace for you to eat''.. you should eat

Khanak: Can we eat here? In the balcony?

He pushes her away a lil and looks down into her eyes smiling "Here?"

Khanak: Hmmm, wahan at the wrought iron table?

Shaan: Let me take you out please?

Khanak: Mmm---mmm

Shaan: You must be sooo hungry (worried)

Khanak: Not much'

He leans on the rail and brings her in front and holds her'''..

After what seems like forever, he lets go to bring the the food and a large candlestick, sets it on the table and lights it all up, there is lots of good food

Serves her faves on a plate, and smiles at her to come sit down, she walks to the table and sits down facing him

He feeds her her fave first, chocolate cake saying " Some dessert?"

Khanak: Only dessert! (giggling)

He feeds her an assortment of it...

Finally getting to the more mundane rice and breads and curries...

They talk about their fave meals, their fave places to eat, their fave famous people, deepest disappointments, strongest hopes. They talk about errors in judging people and situations, they talk about lost opportunities and unexpected windfalls...

They predict how the other would have reacted to a situation or event and laugh over how improbable it would have been.

They make each other guess, speculate where each would be in 5 years from the day.

He sets his own plate with things mostly containing meat

Khanak: Is it my turn to feed you now? (teases)

Shaan: Nah, I can think of other ways you can pay me back''.(looking passionately at her face)

Khanak: I am up from 4 (protesting)

Shaan: Technically 5, you were in bed until then

Khanak: Not sleeping! (accusing)

Shaan lets out a throaty laugh

Khanak: I am going to go change...
