Happy Birthday Karisma Kapoor

Today is 25th June and it happens to be Karisma kapoor's Birthday.

I've been a Karisma Fan all my life and have grown up watching her films.

From a shabby looking girl in 'Prem Qaidi' to the Dancing Diva in 'Dil toh Pagal Hai', Karisma has come a long way.

She is one of the most versatile Actresses too. From comedies like Coolie No. 1, Biwi No.1, etc to romantic flicks like Raja Hindustani, Dil toh Pagal Hai to author backed roles in films like Fiza and Zubeidaa, Karisma has done it all.

She will be making her Big Screen Comeback with a 3D thriller titled, Dangerous Ishq to be directed by Vikram Bhatt. All Lolo fans are dying to see Lolo sizzle the screen once again.

Her sister may be the reigning queen of B'Town but there was a time when Karisma Kapoor ruled the big screen with her award-winning histrionics. It's celebration time for the entire Kapoor clan and indeed for cinema lovers over the country as Lolo turns 37! (25th June)

Born in Mumbai to actors Babita and Randhir Kapoor, Karisma is the granddaughter of Raj Kapoor and the great-granddaughter of Prithviraj Kapoor. Her younger sister Kareena Kapoor is one of the leading actresses in Hindi cinema.

She was only 17 when she made her big-screen debut opposite Harish Kumar in Prem Qaidi. Films such as Jigar, Anari, Raja Babu, Coolie No. 1, Saajan Chale Sasural, Andaz Apna Apna, Gopi Kishan and Jeet followed. Karisma got her big break in Dharmesh Darshan's Raja Hindustani for which she won her first Filmfare 'Best Actress' Award.

Karisma received the National Film Award for 'Best Supporting Actress' in 1997 for her act in Yash Chopra's Dil To Pagal Hai. That same year she starred in hit comedies like Judwaa and Hero No. 1.

After a year-long sabbatical, Karisma starred opposite Salman Khan in the biggest hit of 1999, David Dhawan's Biwi No. 1. She was part of an ensemble cast in Sooraj Barjatya's Hum Saath-Saath Hain: We Stand United and romanced Akshay Kumar in Jaanwar that same year.

Karisma received both critical and commercial acclaim for Khalid Mohamed's Fiza and even won her second Filmfare 'Best Actress' Award for the film. The following year, she received the Filmfare 'Critics Award for Best Performance' for her stellar act in Shyam Benegal's Zubeidaa.

The actress took a break from B'Town after getting married to Sanjay Kapur in 2003. The couple has two children, daughter Samaira and son Kiaan. Karisma recently announced that she would make a comeback in Vikram Bhatt's 3D film titled Dangerous Ishq.
