😆.. i know it kinda luks funny.. and annoying as well.. wenever i tune in to watch BV.. i always find the beendnis of house standing like servants.. while their husbands and DS r comfortably sitting in the couch.. 😆
if bhairon claims to be forward, thn y this discrimination... its also one of social evils..like the wearing saree on head pratha... y dont they make male wear their headgear compulsory..😃 even in house jst like the females... 😆
I am happy tht thy r not imposing all these on Gauri.. and even Gauri herself is not following at least this wearing saree on head pratha..

Women in Rajasthan are always supposed to keep their heads covered and keep standing if their husband, in-laws or even guests are around.

It is not just prevalent in villages but also among urban people! Once my father's classmate (who's from Udaipur), came to our house with his family, and it was shocking to notice that his wife barely dared to even look at him in the eye, she was always standing (even when her kids were sitting!) and if anyone asked her to sit, then she sat on the floor (but not on a chair, at the same level as her husband!!).

We were shocked to see a middle-aged and educated couple behaving like this!

That lady herself told us that it was not their custom to speak while the husband was speaking, eat while he was eating or sit at the same level as him.

Not just Rajasthan, I think majority of people in India expect women (and even kids) to keep standing while the men and older members of their family are around. A lot of orthodox people look at women with awe and even disgust, if they find them sitting & eating at the same time as their husbands and elders. Women are supposed to be ever ready to ''serve'' and even kids are expected to be ''respectful'' and ''help around with serving the guests or elders''.

one of the many irrational things that are still in practice in the name of custom or culture
