Ram-Sakshi's serial launched in Agra
TNN | May 26, 2011, 12.05pm IST

Who says we always need to say a show's name, we can also sing it.
That's what Ekta Kapoor thinks about her upcoming show's title on Sony
Entertainment Television.

The title Bade Acche Laggte Hai... Yeh Dharti, Yeh Nadiya, Yeh Rainna
Aur Tum..., which is sung by Shreya Ghoshal, is also the longest title
of any show on Indian Television.

Recently launched in the city of eternal romance Agra, with the
beautiful Taj Mahal as a witness to the love story of Ram and Priya.
Bade Acche Laggte Hai, features two of the biggest stars of television,
Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar. It also happens to be Ekta Kapoor's dream
project. Interestingly, Ekta loves this song so much that she had got
the title registered about six years ago. Ekta is convinced that the
title reflects the element of romance in the show.

Bade Achche Laggte Hai is a matured love story, which traces the story
of two strangers getting married and gradually falling in love. As the
story begins, we see a happy-go-lucky Priya Sharma (Sakshi Tanwar), an
unmarried woman in her early thirties who believes that marriage has
passed her by. On the other hand, Ram Kapoor (Ram Kapoor), an
entrepreneur in his early forties believes he has crossed the age of
marriage long ago. Ram does not feel the need of a life partner. Yet,
marriage suddenly comes knocking at his door. What happens when these
two different personalities come together through the institution of
marriage?

How does love happen to them? To know more, stay tuned as the show goes
on air, on May 30, 2011 every Monday to Thursday, at 10:30 pm only, on
Sony Entertainment Television. Till then keep singing "Bade Acche Laggte
Hai..."

Experiments doesn't work on TV: Ram

IANS | May 25, 2011, 03.39pm IST

Seasoned actor Ram Kapoor, who has been in showbiz for 14 years and worked in TV as well as films, says experiments in storytelling yield more favourable results on the big screen owing to multiplexes.

"I think experimentation is being practised on both the platforms - television and Bollywood - but it is much more fruitful on the big screen because of multiplexes," Ram, 37, told IANS in an interview.

"Bollywood experimentation is working. On the contrary, TV does take the risk of bringing different subjects and projects, but these don't pay off.

"Films like 'Rang De Basanti' and 'No One Killed Jessica' have played an important role in reaching out to the masses and waking them up. We have seen people binding together and standing for causes. The most recent was when people got together and fought against corruption with
Anna Hazare," he added.

Ram was seen in the critically acclaimed film "Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi", the much appreciated "Monsoon Wedding" and "Udaan". He also featured in "Karthik Calling Karthik".

"After 'Udaan', I have been doing a lot more scripts, but five years ago such subjects would not have not got money-backing. Would you have imagined five years back a film like 'Udaan' being released with no stars, no item numbers, no glamour... nothing?," he said.

After finishing his graduation, Ram decided to plunge into showbiz, but before doing that he went to the US to do an acting course. Popularly known as Jai Walia of "Kasamh Se", Ram's first debut assignment on TV was "Nyay" (1997) and he continued his stint with a string of shows such as "Kavita"(1998), "Ghar Ek Mandir"(2000), "Kehta Hai Dil" (2002) and "Basera"(2009).

In 2009, he turned host for Imagine TV's much-hyped wedding reality show "Rakhi Ka Swayamvar" and continued to do that for the second season "Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jaayega".

He is excited about making a comeback on television with Sakshi Tanwar with Sony's forthcoming show "Bade Achche Lagte Hain" about love after marriage.

Produced by Balaji Arts, the show, going on air May 30, revolves around a business tycoon in his late 40s and a working woman in her late 30s.

"I am happy that I am getting the kind of work I have always wanted to do. The roles, the scripts - I feel my weight and my look are favouring my stars," said Ram who bagged the main lead despite being overweight.

"I consider myself a character actor, I am not the leading hero type;

I don't fall in that category. I feel I belong to the league of actors like Boman Irani and Anupam Kher," said Ram who also has interesting movies in hand.

"I am currently working on two films. One is Karan Johar's 'Short Term Shaadi' - I play a
Las Vegas real estate king. There is a lot of comedy in the film. My work is more with Boman, Ratna Pathak Shah and Imran Khan. The Vegas schedule is finished and we have to shoot the India part."

He even plays a Russian mob boss in a film by Sriram Raghavan.

"The other film is 'Agent Vinod' where I play a Russian mob boss. The director wanted to experiment with my look and diction. Luckily, I am very good with accents."

Ram has divided his time equally between the small and big screen.

"Now I am getting meaningful roles. I give 15 days a month to TV and the other 15 to films. Sometimes it becomes hectic but it is a good period for my career; so I have no reason to complain," said Ram.

He admits all this comes at the cost of family time.

"My family does suffer - my children miss me. But whatever I am doing at the end of the day is for them. And in every actor's career, there is a period when you become hot; you have to capitalize on that. Now the time is mine," said the actor who is married to co-star Gautami and has two children.

What's in store?

As cricket mania draws to a close, TV channels are gearing up for a host of new shows.

What's in store?

If you thought that your romance with television would end with the cricket season, think again! Television channels are making sure they lure in viewers and have the recipe in place.

Zee television is coming up with 'Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Lil Champs', season 4 - this time called Music ka Gurucool - with musicians Kailash Kher, Adnan Sami and Javed Ali as the judges and singer Alka Yagnik as the mahaguru. Another new show titled 'Shobha Somnath Ki' will be replacing the ongoing 'Jhansi ki Rani'. The date for its launch, however, is yet to be decided.

Also packed in is a light-hearted family drama called 'Mrs Kaushik ki Paanch Bahuyein', which revolves around a strict mother in law on the lookout for the perfect bahu. 'Sa Re Ga Ma...' will give way to another reality show on Zee titled 'Jaanbaaz' - a reality stunt show - which will be hosted by actor Sunny Deol and will involve stuntmen of the film industry. The yearend will see the third season of 'Dance India Dance' too.

Sony TV too has a good mix of shows in place. The channel will kick off the much awaited 'X Factor' on May 29. The show features singers Sonu Nigam, Shreya Ghoshal and filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali. 'Bade Acche Lagte Hain' - a fiction show is one of the biggest launches for the channel which brings back on the small screen actors Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar.

"We have very thoughtfully charted out an eclectic mix of shows for the rest of the year," says Ajay Bhalwankar, Programming head of Sony entertainment. 'Entertainment Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega', 'Kaun Banega Crorepati 5' and 'Jhalak Dikhla Jaa' are some of other upcoming shows.

With Hrithik Roshan debuting on TV with the reality show 'Just Dance', Star Plus seems promising too. Also in line is a love saga, 'Is Pyar Ko Kya Naam Doon'. Besides, the channel will be launching 'Surivor India' and 'Master Chef India' Season 2 towards the year end. Sister channel Star One has a dose of a reality TV to offer with 'Sach ka Saamna', season 4 - hosted by actor Rajeev Khandelwal. Colors promises some nail biting stunts with 'Khatron ke Khiladi', hosted by Akshay Kumar. And balancing it will be a fiction show 'Hamari Saas Leela'.

Imagine has 'Ratan ka Rishta' with Hiten Tejwani as host. 'Dwaarkadheesh' and 'Preeto' are other shows in the fiction category.

https://www.bollywoodlife.com/news-gossip/ram-kapoor-and-sakshi-tanwar-turn-into-mature-lovers/

Bade Achche Lagte Hain… brings the two television stars together for the first time

All you women out there, take heart. πŸ˜Š  Ekta Kapoor is now attempting to venture out of the saas-bahu zone. πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜† Her latest offering – Bade Achche Lagte Hain… Yeh Dharti, Yeh Nadiyan, Yeh Raina Aur Tum – stars her favourite actor Ram Kapoor 😳😳😳 alongside Sakshi Tanwar. πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

That's right – two of the biggest stars on the small screen will be starring opposite each other in what is being touted as a mature love saga.πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

We like that the two actors, for once, are playing their age πŸ˜†πŸ˜† – not young lovers, and definitely not parents of really old kids πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†... πŸ₯³ (dats the best part πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘).

Anyway, since women are the target audience, the show has Sakshi playing Priya Sharma, a romantic at heart, who thinks that since she is in her mid-thirties, she is no longer 'of marriageable age'. She is content being single.

Ram plays a businessman, who is imaginatively called – you guessed it – Ram Kapoor!😳 Busy handling the business since his father's death,  Ram believes that now that he is in his mid-forties,πŸ˜›πŸ˜›  the time for marriage has passed him by.πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†  Obviously, these two will find love in each other. πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰

We don't mind the clich, as long as the obstacles they face do not include scheming sisters- and mothers-in-law. πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜†πŸ˜† Tired of that, aren't we? (YES ) πŸ˜†πŸ˜†

Let's hope,  this promising story will not degenerate into another Virani saas-bahu saga.

This came in the Deccan Herald, Bangalore, on May 31, 2011.

TV Talk

Middle age romance returns to small screen
Agra, May 25, (PTI):

Middle age romance, the subject matter of popular nineties soaps like 'Saans' and 'Astitva', is making a comeback on the small screen.

'Bade Acche Lagte Hai', a new show on Sony, has the two popular faces of Indian television, Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar, portraying a middle-aged couple who fall in love after marriage.

Conceptualised and produced by daily soap queen Ekta Kapoor, the show explores how two people with very different personalities come together.

Sakshi, 38, plays Priya, an unmarried woman in her early thirties who believes that marriage has passed her by. Yet, she continues to be a romantic soul.

"Priya believes in love and she knows that she will fall in love one day. She is a happy-go-lucky woman who takes joy in everything around her. She has already given up on marriage but is a firm believer in love and all the rosy things attached to it," said Sakshi.

The actress, popularly known as Parvati from the hit show 'Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki', took a break from daily soaps, making small appearances in 'Balika Vadhu' and 'Crime Patrol'.

She is making her comeback in the small screen as a leading lady with the show.

Ram plays a 40-year-old business tycoon who never found the time to think about getting married. He dotes on his extended family and never felt the need of a life-partner. But somehow marriage come knocking at his door and before he knows, he is married.

"I play this character who has no sense of humour at all. He is a perfectionist and hates socialising. He is completely opposite to Priya and yet they get married.

"Thats the very essense of the show. Personally I believe that arranged marriages are more successful than love marriages, even though I have had a love marriage," said Ram.

Yesteryear's superstar Jeetendra, who was present at the serial's launch in Agra, couldn't hide his excitement about the show.

"The promos are too good. It made me feel so good that I came here all the way from Mumbai. They (Ram and Sakshi) look so good together," he said.

The show was conceptualised by Ekta keeping Ram and Sakshi in mind and she waited for almost three years for them to say yes.

"Bade Acche Lagte Hai is a concept very close to my heart. Everything about the show is full of love right from the title to the storyline to the characters. I look forward to the continued support that Balaji enjoys among the audience," said Ekta.

http://fenilandbollywood.com/tag/sarita-tanwar-ram-kapoor/

We all know her as Indian television's favourite bhabhi Parvati from Balaji Telefilms' Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii. This time around, after playing the negative role of Teepri in Balika Vadhu, Sakshi Tanwar is back to win the audience's hearts as Priya, in a love story that focuses on falling in love after getting married. MM.com speaks to the affable Sakshi on the day her new show Bade Acche Lagte Hain releases.

Excerpts from the interview:

You are returning as the main protagonist in a daily soap – Bade Acche Lagte Hain – after two years. Any reason behind the hiatus?
It was a conscious decision; I wanted to take a sabbatical. The role of Parvati ran for eight years and I didn't take a break in-between the show even once. So, I planned to sit back and relax, catch up with some quality time with my friends and family and just focus on things that I like.

From Dastoor, your first show on Doordarshan, to Bade Acche Lagte Hain; how has the journey been so far?
Between Dastoor and
Kahaani… I did a lot of other shows. My first satellite TV show Rajdhani was aired on Star Plus. The journey, I would say, has been very fulfilling. Becoming an actor was never on the cards for me. I was in fact giving my civil service exams when Rajdhani was offered to me. That was the turning point; I realised that acting is something that makes me happy. I'm glad that it panned out this way.

Tell us about your role in Bade Acche Lagte Hain.
It's about a modern girl named Priya who is romantic by heart but doesn't believe that it's important to be in love to get married. She is an unmarried woman in her 30's and believes that love will happen in its own sweet time and it could happen after marriage too.

I was offered this role by Ekta (Kapoor) within 4 months after Kahaani… got over. She promised me a role that was written keeping me in mind, and now after 5 years she is fulfilling her promise.  When the role was narrated to me, I loved it instantly. I feel that one can fall in love with their spouse after marriage and late marriages do take place. And I realised this is the perfect opportunity to make a come back.

The show was launched in Agra. Any specific reason for that?
The show is about love and how it can happen between two strangers. We chose Agra, keeping the Taj Mahal as a backdrop – after all, it is the biggest symbol of love in our country. It was a memorable 2-day trip.

This is your first show with Ram Kapoor. How is he as a co-star?
Ram is a fine actor, full of vibrant energy and a lot of fun to work with. He brings so much positive energy to the sets and even though we have just shot for promos up till now, as our scenes are in the later part of the show, I had a great time working with him.

You are also coming in a movie, Mohalla Assi, opposite Sunny Deol. Tell us more about it.
I am playing the role of Savitri who is the wife of Dharmnath Pandey, played by Sunny Deol. He essays the role of a Sanskrit
teacher and it's about how I, as a wife, stand by him in difficult times.

What are your future plans?
Well, for now, one show at a time seems good! I am open to working in films as long as the role
is good. It's all about the kind of roles that are offered, if it is good and I think I can do it I will definitely take it up.
