Update for Tues, Mar 1, 2011:
Selvam tells Archu that he has not invited Kavya's family because of the problems they had with that family during the naming ceremony. Archu is not happy at his inviting Bhagyam but he explains that she has changed now. He lies down with his head on her lap and goes to sleep (I think, it took too long!)
Scene - Minister's house. RS's adiyaal is waiting for him at the gate, calls him, he says he is on his way, finally he arrives and the adiyaal and his cronies (each one looks more disreputable than the next) go to receive him (ippovae mandhiri aayaachunnu ninaippo?) and RS steps out. Adiyaal praises his new "look" in pure white, takes off his chain and watch, asks RS to wear them, and says the MLA seat is practically assured for RS. RS strides into the house, is greeted by a high ranking police officer who asks him if he is standing for the MLA seat, adiyaal says it confirms that the seat is his. They go into the house, the Minister's PA comes down, takes RS upstairs with mariyaadhai, etc.
The Minister receives RS, who gives him a lemon (I don't know what this means) and so he remarks about it - I didn't understand this, either. Anyway, the Minister sends away the adiyaal and his PA, saying he wants to talk to RS privately, RS broaches the topic of the bye election, the Minister says what about it? Our man will stand and you will make sure he wins it, right? RS says he wants to stand for election himself this time, rather than helping others get elected. Minister says that this is not a good idea, his reputation has been spoiled by various things, his daughter herself spoke badly about him at the time of the opening of the store, then Selvam listed all the dirty tricks played by him, and everyone knows about his family problems, so he need not think about standing for elections, and dismisses RS. RS is shocked, as if he has been slapped, finally he goes downstairs, and when his adiyaal comes to ask what happened, the adiyaal gets a slap! He is furious and walks out.
Selvam is busy getting the shed ready, when Poonga, Bhagyam and Rani enter. He asks about Akash, is told that Akash had to go to the office suddenly. Bhagyam goes to Selvam and praises him, Poonga says, See, this is my son, Selvam! I knew he would come up, unlike your son, Vasu, who cheated him (was this dialog really necessary here?)

Kavya drops off Malar at the hostel. She gives Malar two churidar sets and mosquito ointment so that mosquitoes will not bite her and asks Malar why she did this drogam and agreed to marry Gautham, Malar falls at her feet, said she did not agree to marry Gautham because she thought that marrying Gautham as a first thaaram was better than marrying Sori as a second thaaram, as Kavya seems to think. She says she thought marrying Sori was itself a drogam to Kavya.
Kavya returns home and tells her MIL and FIL about what happened, and MIL tells her that she doesn't want an odukaali, uneducated girl for her DIL and she can do her own searching for a DIL and she doesn't want Kavya to do it. Kavya asks about Sori and MIL says that he is fast asleep and for her not to go and disturb him. Kavya goes up without eating dinner, FIL asks her to eat and she says she has no appetite, after she goes, MIL threatens to commit suicide if he sides with Kavya.
