Prachi Desai, the Bollywood hottie who hit the big-time with her sensational song with Emran Hashmi in Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, has been lured to the Tamil circuit by actor Arun Vijay for a film titled Thadaiyara Thakka produced by the actor's home banner. Sources revealed that Prachi has been paid a huge sum as remuneration. When Arun Vijay was questioned about this, he did agree that they paid a big amount and said, "Unlike my recent two films Malai Malai and Maanja Velu, which targeted B and C centers, Thadaiyara….is a slick urban suspense thriller. It was my director Magizh Tirumeni who wanted Prachi on board as he felt she fitted the role of the female lead which he had conceptualised. After he approached Prachi through a common friend and narrated the script, she was glad to sign it. Though she was a little pricy, we went ahead and signed her as we felt she's a unique combo of talent and glamour."
Ask Magizh how he convinced Prachi, who has been declining south films, he says with a smile, "I have no clue. She came across as a down- to-earth person. Her face is such that even a south audience can relate to her."
Thaman has scored the music and Sukumar of Mynaa fame will be behind the camera. Part of the film will be shot in Delhi. Shooting starts on March 7 sentimentally at Palani and will be shifted to the city later.
