Here is a movie which took me by surprise where I went to it with least of expectation. Firstly, the name didn't impress me. Secondly, after promos, the movie looks similar to Aisha. Despite the fact that I liked the movie, I thought if it is almost similar' Third reservation was the hero who didn't impress me in the promos though the heroine face was familiar. The Yash Raj Banner also didn't helped considering few of their recent releases. However, the film was a pleasant surprise!

Lately, bollywood was missing some quality romance movies and Band Baaja Baaraat is like a rain to a dry land even when it is not the best of rain it is rain. Another major plus of the movie is that along with romance, ambition and success was given prominence.
Shruthi Kakkar (Anushka Sharma) is an ambitious young girl who is just completing her degree. Her family is looking for a suitable boy to fix her marriage, but upon her insisting they halts their marriage plans for 5 years to permit her to follow her ambition, i.e. to become a wedding planner. Bittoo Sharma (Ranveer Singh) is a Delhi university student, who pursues his education without much enthusiasm, since after completing his study he has to go back to the sugar cane fields, a job which he didn't like. On the other the not so encouraging campus atmosphere didn't impress him. Sooner, Bittoo meets Shruthi who by now is assisting a settled wedding planner. Bittoo loves Shruthi in the first sight itself. To be with Shruthi and to escape the sugar cane fields Bittoo follows Shruthi's dream and soon they starts a wedding planning institution, 'Shaadi Mubarak'. Shruthi have a business mantra, partners of business cannot be partners in life. The youngsters are all set to face the challenges of business before they are taken by the challenges of emotions. Will, when and how they will identify the desires of heart?
The first winner of the show is the screen play. Habib Faisal did a wonderful job in developing the story to an engaging and romantic screen play. The screenplay is almost flawless in the entire first half and most of the second half. After the interval it looks flexible but by end the writer compensated for the loose links. Story writer and Director Maneesh Sharma well executed the scenes to makes the film a memorable experience.
Performance by Ranveer Singh is competent for a fresher. It is not outstanding but he succeeds in bringing a kind of freshness to the film. Anushka Sharma is the life blood of the film. She simply rocks. Except in the item number, where she fails to emote the sensuality as required in the song (instead she resort to innocent smile), she did a fantastic job. Superb! Rest of the cast, one and all are competent.
Yash Raj films normally don't fail in cinematography and here too cinematography is excellent. Red is the selected colour for this romantic film and the colour delivers what it is capable of. Art designs are superb and the camera well capture the richness.
Editing is excellent! Costumes are good.
Music is very good and choreography is excellent. For a romantic film, music is very important and Band Baaja Baaraat give reasons for some foot tapping. Melodies may be taken a back seat, but the fast numbers well suited the situations.
The film had some chances of improvement by giving better expressive reason for the mind change by the heroine in the first part of the second half. Also, the performance also had scope for improvement in few places. Otherwise, the film entertains quite well.
The film is good news for Yash Raj films and to audience for its quality. However, at box office, the film needed better nurturing as the initials looking not so promising in the first day of its release. Hope that the word of good passes faster.
Do watch this fresh, young and romantic film with your dear one of your heart or with friends of your heart.
