So posting in a seperate topic! ST's latest Gr! Interview😊 Posting just a part of that😃

-------------------------

Who gave you the name Shweta?

Shweta : My mother did! She derived it from a Goddess' name and it was a unique one in the village I was born!

Was there any disappointment in the family, ke ladki ho gayi?

Shweta : Not that I know of! Actually within days of my being born, I was brought to Bombay ( then ). They say the moment I was being carried to home, from the other side brought the Durga Idol and my grandpa gushed - 'Ghar mei devi aa gayi!'😳

That's a great welcome for a girl, no?

Shweta : Absolutely! But tell you what, when my daughter was born and I took her to my in-laws' town, there was big disappointment there!

Like?

Shweta : Oh, my MIL would pine before visitors - 'Arre aapke toh 2 bete hai, but to us was born a girl!'

And how did you react to that?

Shweta : I was livid! And I told them in so many words - 'Look, I'm not going to tolerate this rubbish against my daughter. I will take her away if you behave like this!' This made her silent!

Was it an easy childhood for you?

Shweta : No - difficult! Very difficult! My grandpa suffered big Financial setbacks and we fell on real bad times. Both my parents worked. I, myself, started working since I was in 7th standard.

So that you could be self-sufficient?

Shweta : Yes - I took total care of my own expense. In vacations, I would work in a Travel Agency and earn enough to last me the rest of the year. Children pester their parents to buy this or that, but if I desired a toy or something, I would stand on road to sell my mixer-grinders and then buy that with my own money!

That must have made you an independent person?

Shweta : Oh, fiercely independent! I only did my own wish. I would save, I would cut corners, but I would also squander big money on presents for my friends, buying them dresses. Being a Shweta Gift, it alwats had to be special!😉

Have you been naive early on?

Shweta : Like how! I studied in Girls' school and college as well and boys would be bugbears for me. I was all the time worried ke Log kya kahenge. That made me totally bottled up and knotted!

And you remained like that till when?

Shweta : Till very, very late! Even on the sets of Kasautii Zindagi Kay, when they cracked non-veg jokes, I would just gape at them, not understanding a thing! And there would be whispers - 'Oh, she pretends to be dumb, though she is not!' But I was! I was a Dhaa ( Desi slang for silly and simpleton )!

----------------

Will update if people want😉

Vik.. people cant come out of their 'vaaris' thingy.. didn't u see in Agle Janam Mei Mohe Beetiya hi Kijo'?

No matter how weird the show is, but in village side, this still exists!

Good that Raja was not like his mom 😃

Thanks P4R.
She says her Garndfather suffered financial setbacks. What abt her Dad? Was he not working? Why allow his 7th standard daughter to earn? 7th standard is like...what?...12 yrs old? Who employs 12 yr olds?

Mithi I donno why and how her grandpa's financial setbacks affected them😕 I am also clueless abt that😕

But as for allowing her to work, well in other Gr8! interviews ( which I dont have in my hostel ) I think I have read that she used to take care of her bro and her own expenses.. And she used to sell tickets in that Travel Agency, as she has a good PR for that😉

Being an Indian, I know right, it's not very uncommon seeing lil kids working in hotels, shops, agencies.. It's sad, but lots of people appoint these kids.. How I hate it

If she really was working when she was 12.......sad. Again who employs 12 yr old girls to sell tickets in a travel agency. Doesn't happen. So am having a hard time believing that. Yeah child labour is a problem in India......but those are dirt poor ppl...who cannnot afford two square meals a day. And mostly those kids work as household help or in hotels, shops etc. A Travel agency will NEVER hire a child. The way she talks, acts speaks of good upbringing, good education. So obviously the parents weren't that bad off. Maybe she worked during holidays but I bet ya...not at 12!!! Kids over 15/16 work nowadys...retail mein...malls mein....but this is now...in current India. It was not so in the past. Tuitions, yes....can believe........I think she is exaggerating a bit with that 7th standard story.

well mithi, there are lots of things that change in her interviews time to time😆 As she says wht she feels at THAT time😆

But I can bet this is something which she mentions in her every interview.. One of the fewest constant lines from her🤣 Do u have tht vid where she was asked abt her choti choti baatei in SBS? There also she said the same thing..

I dont think she would make stories on her first salary that she got in her 12-yr-old😳 First salaries are always precious😳
