I never realized how much the background music of a film impacts a scene.
I did an experiment.
I editted in an instrumental that I found beautiful into a scene from Kurbaan.
If you remember the scene, there was no sound in the back. Just silence as they said their lines.
I added this in. I feel that it adds onto the moment, rather than divert attention away from it.
I wonder why they chose not to put in any bacground score in the original film.
My editted Version with Background Score:

totally dude...half the reason why i luv any movies with AR rahaman or illayaraja in the credits is because of their AWSOME background score...it takes the scene to a different level!!!

some makers (like VB) ive noticed, do not use much of a background score...their songs play in the background but they dunt use it to their max effect!
