This is my first attempt at writing a Maaneet OS. I am not sure I can do justice but here is the attempt.
Maan was woken up by his princess bawling early in the morning. He looked to see Geet sleeping and smiled adjusting the blankets so that she does not feel cold. Geet also awoke and made a move to get up, he told her to relax because it was his turn to take care of his daughter. Geet protested but Maan put a finger on her lips and said "Chip bilkul chup. You need sleep. Go back to sleep and let me take care of her."
He walked over to the crib and picked up his daughter and she stopped crying immediately. He took her downstairs as he went to fix up his darling's bottle just the way she liked it. The staff were already up and about, but left him alone. He started heating the milk and grinned remembering their reaction when he first entered the kitchen several months ago. They had almost fainted. One of them had recovered and offered to help him heat the milk but he had curtly cut him off with an angry stare. Nobody bothered him after that because they realized that he would not trust anyone to heat his darling's milk.
After testing it on his wrist, he started walking with her slowly so that he could go back upstairs. He sat down on a chair, rocking her and smiling as he gave her the bottle. As she lay there drinking her milk and playing, his eyes fell on his sleeping wife and he remembered the previous night and gave a satisfied smirk. Geet was even more responsive to his touch then before. He knew Geet thought she had gotten fat but he told her he loved her new fuller figure at every chance he got and even demonstrated it last night. His princess protested as if she knew he was not concentrating on her anymore. Maan broke out of his reverie and concentrated on getting her to finish her milk.
Just as she finished Geet woke up and came to take the baby from him. He grabbed her close and kissed her. She blushed and hid her face in his chest. They stood there silently for a moment. He was at peace holding his family in his arms. Geet took the baby from him and burped it and then told him to go get ready. Maan looked at the clock and ran to do his exercise followed by a quick shower. He got dressed quickly and ran down looking for Geet and the baby.
He spotted the two women in his life....make that three since daadi was there too in the dining room. Daadi was holding the baby and playing with her while Geet made breakfast for everyone. Daadi was complaining to Geet about how she never got to hold her grandchild. Geet told her that she was not alone and that the minute the baby saw Maan she forgot about everyone else. Maan laughed and entered the dining room.
Daadi watched as the baby cooed and called him towards her and Maan complied. He then picked her up and held her carefully supporting her head. Daadi saw this and had tears in her eyes. Maan saw this and asked her is everything is fine? He came around and embraced her with his other hand. Geet was also concerned and came running. Daadi said that she was ecstatic and crying tears of joy since she never imagined Maan would be this happy. She thanked Geet profusely for making this possible. Geet told her that it was her and the baby's good fortune that she was here. Geet had tears in her eyes too. Maan looked at both of them crying and motioned to Geet and she joined their hug too. Maan said to Geet "you are my life. Thank you for everything" and kissed her on the forehead.
The baby started howling and daadi said "Look at how possessive she is about her father.....she has to be the center of attention.....just like Maan when he was little." Maan protested that he was not like that and daadi shut him up saying she knew what he was like a child better than him and she had witnesses to prove it. If he wanted she could call the extended family for a get together. After all they had been wanting to see the baby. Maan blanched on hearing about the get together. He did not want to share his princess with anyone so soon and so he mumbled that he believed his daadi and that they should wait until the baby is a little older. Daadi started laughing till she had tears in her eyes.
Daadi wiped her tears and said "Look it is time for you to go to work. Eat you breakfast. Geet has worked hard to make it." Daadi took the baby from Maan and motioned to Geet that she would take the baby to her room. Daadi walked away all excited to have her great granddaughter to herself. Maan was not happy to see the baby go but realized that he would get to spend some quality time with his wife. Geet was happy that daadi took the baby away because the baby would not let Maan leave and Maan had important meetings at the office today. Geet knew from experience that if the baby saw Maan leave, she would wail plaintively and Maan would decide not to go to work and stay back. The baby had Maan firmly wrapped around her little finger. For someone who said tears did not have any effect on him, Maan would go to any lengths to make his princess stop crying.
Maan made Geet sit down next to him and eat breakfast too. He scolded her that she was to eat properly. Geet protested that she was eating fine and in fact she was becoming fat. Maan's response was that he did not mind because there was more of her to love now. Geet blushed hearing his response. Maan moved closer but his cell chose that particular moment to ring. It was Mr. Chopra confirming his appointment. Maan agreed to meet him with a heavy heart not wanting to leave home. Geet realizing that he might not want to go quickly ran and got his things. She gave him is laptop bag and alerted the driver that he was coming. Maan complained that Geet was trying to kick him out and sulked.
Geet told him that he needed to be a good father and earn a living and so he needed to go to work. Maan protested that he had more than enough money and Geet pointed out that he needed to be a good role model to his daughter and hence he should go to work and not take his wealth for granted. Maan stood there glowering at her until she planted a smile on his cheek and said "Maan, you need to go attend this meeting. It is important for the future of Khurana constructions and our daughter's future. You can come back for lunch and play with her". Maan was about to protest when he realized that she was right. Maan looked at this woman in front of him whom he had met just a year ago. How his life had changed in a year. He could not have imagined a year ago that this girl would bring such huge changes in his life. He pulled her into a bear hug, gave her a kiss on her forehead and went to work. Geet smiled and went back inside.
