Are we time travelling WA ? check the date of the artcle , highlighted in red !I dont support the use of any drug just for "feeling good". Acetaminophen is not much good for physical pain and as a relief for psychological pain there are other more effective and longer lasting less harmful non-chemical alternatives available. A little pain and stress is not harmful at all. It serves the purpose of prodding a person to come up with better and more practical solutions . Just imagine a situation when people start popping pills every time they are faced with a moral dilemma ! Relieving all sense of discomfort by drugs takes away the will to come up with solutions for a problem and wont be good for society in the long run.Further, long indiscriminate use of acetaminophen is not without its dangers. In large doses, it is a hepatotoxic drug.
Oh, that's really weird, Angie! I actually have a hard copy of this month's Scientific American and the article has been published already. How odd!
And as Sarina said, I definitely do not condone popping pills for silly reasons. In fact, I think some people really do need to feel that sense of rejection - because that is reality. The scientific community should be a little careful before publishing some articles that someone will misunderstand and misuse. Good thing druggies probably do not receive monthly subscriptions of Scientific American. 😆
