Prem and Preet came downstairs.

Gayatri said, "Agaye tum donun. Chalo ab khana khalo."

Prem and Preet took their respective seats; Meher sat besides Preet and Gayatri on the head seat. Preet held Meher's right hand so she was eating with her left. Gayatri noticed that and said, "Beta tum kabse left hand se khane lagy?"

Meher choked and Preet's eyes wide open. Preet passed her the glass of water.

Meher glared at Preet and said, "Wo ma kia hai na ke mere seedhe haath main dard horaha hai tabhi main ulte se kha rahi hun." And mentally kicked herself for making such a lame excuse.

Gayatri said, "Ok." But was not convinced because minutes away she was helping her in the kitchen and was working with her both hands and didn't make any complain about it. To find out what is going on under the table she deliberately threw the spoon and bend down to pick it up and then she saw Preet holding on to Meher's hand. She bit her lower lip to control her laughter.

She said, "Beta Meher, haath main itna dard horaha hai ke Preet tumhara haath daba raha hai." And smirked.

Both Meher and Preet choked. Preet at once left her hand and meher said nervously, "Ji ma. I mean aisi baat nahin hai."

Gayatri laughed and said, "Maloom hai tum donun ki shaadi hone wali hai per Preet control yourself."

Preet nodded.

Prem said, "Kyun, hua kia ma?"

Gayatri opened her mouth to tell him but Preet stopped her, "Ma ap kahiye na."

Preet came near to Prem and whispered in his ears, "PB dikha ma humein araam se romance bhi nahin karne deti ap mat bhoolna kal apko kia kam karna hai."

Prem smiled and whispered, "Don't worry. Kam hojayega."

Gayatri said, " Kia kheechri paakh rahi hai donun bhaiyun main?"

Preet said, "Wo ma PB shopping karne ka kehrahe thay liken kal mujhe ek zaruri kam hai to main soch raha tha ke kyun na PB Meher ke saath chale jayen."

Gayatri said, "Haan theek hai. Meher tumhein koi aitraaz to nahin hai na?"

Meher said, "Mujhe kia aitraaz hosakta hai."

Preet smirked and Prem said, "To theek hai main tumhein kal shaam ko hospital se pick karta hun."

Meher nodded and they all did their dinner. After dinner Preet dropped Meher to her home and when he returned home everyone had already slept.

The next morning Prem was getting ready to have a survey of the hotel that they had recently inaugurated in Ludhiana, 'Ludhiana Heights'. He was standing infront of the mirror when Preet entered his room all ready in a black business suit.

Preet said, "Good morning PB."

Prem said, "Good morning Preet."

Preet said, "PB ap bhule to nahin na apko Meher ko 7:00 pm humare farm house main likar aana hai."

Prem turned towards Preet and said, "Nahin bhula."

Preet said, "Good. Ap aj hotel jarahe hain?"

Prem said, "Haan Preet."

Preet said, "OK liken aj main nahin aasakta bohot saari arrangements karni hai."

Prem said, "OK. Ab neeche chalein."

Both the brothers came downstairs greeting Gayatri taking their seats in the dining table, "Good morning ma."

Gayatri said, "Good morning beta."

Both had their breakfast and went to their respective places. Prem was greeted by everyone in the office. He went to his cabin and immersed himself in work but his thoughts were somewhere else.

~FLASHBACK~

The alarm clock was ringing indicating that it is 7:15 am. Heer sleeping on her bed covered with a blanket, stretching her hand she put the alarm clock off. She sat up on the bed and stretched herself looking at the wall clock she shouted, "7:15 am OMG! I am late. Sab Prem ki wajah se hua hai."

Heer took the book which she had kept beside her pillow before sleeping last night taking out the letter from the book. She stared at it and said, "Agar mere saapnon main nahin aate to main time pe uth jaati." And hugged the letter.

Getting up from the bed she rushed to bathroom, took bath and took out a white coloured shalwaar suit with light blue thread embroidery on it, it was a decent suit and it was gifted by Prem to her on their 17^th anniversary of being best friends. She hugged it and immediately put it on her. She took her breakfast quickly and rushed to her uni.

On reaching th uni she started looking for Prem and found him standing on the corridor with his back facing her. She slowly moved towards him, "BOO." Heer screamed in his ears.

Prem was startled and looked at Heer, "Heer tum, tumne to meri jaan he nikal di thi."

Heer said, "Kahan khoya hai?"

Prem said, "Kahin nahin. Acha mujhe tumhein kuch batana hai."

Heer said, "Mujhe bhi."

Prem said, "Liken pehle mein."

Heer said, "Nahin pehle main."

Prem said, "Pehle main."

Heer said, "Pehle main."

Prem said, "Pehle tum." And smirked.

Heer said, "Nahin pehle tum." And put a hand on her mouth.

Prem said, "Chalo theek hai ab tum itna keh he rahi ho to pehle main he bata deta hun."

Heer said, "That's not fair. Yeh cheating hai."

Prem said, "Hhahah!! Jo bhi hy but I won. Acha chalo mein bataon?"

Heer said pouting, "Ab bata hi do."

Prem smiled victoriously, "I am in love."

Heer turned her face to other side in shyness, "Kisse?" expecting her name.

Prem said, "I am in love with Ash."

Heer eyes were wide open in shock, tears started forming in her eyes and were ready to flow at any second. Heer said trying to be normal, "Oh wow Prem! Waise who is Ash?" not daring to turn around and face Prem.

Prem said, "Arey main bi kitna buddhu hun. Ash she is new student in our uni. Aj he join kia hai but Heer usko pehli nazar main dekhte hi I lost my heart to her. Wo kia kehte hain. Haan love at first sight. Heer tum humesha kehti ot er ke marry someone mujhe lagta hai ke wo larki perfect hai. Waise I hardly know her but bata na Heer main usay bata dun?"

Heer felt like someone is trying to kill her. The guy she loved so much is in love with someone.

Heer said, "Haan Prem tumhein usay bata dena chahiye ke isay pehle bohot dair hojaye aur tumhara pyaar tumse door chala jaye." She said it with a heavy heart.

Prem said, "Are you sure ke wo haan kardegi. I mean pehle mujhe usay dosti karni chahiye iske baad agar main usay btadunga, kaisa hai idea?"

Heer bit her lower lip to control her tears and turned around to face Prem plastering a fake smile, "Wow Prem! The idea is great aur rahi baat Ash ki haan karne ki to wo zaroor haan karegy akhir my best friend The Prem Juneja ko kaun mana karskta hai."

Prem smiled and hugged her. Heer closed her eyes as tears started to flow from her eyes. Parting apart from the hug Prem noticed the tears in Heer's eyes. Prem cupped her face and asked in concern, "Heer tum ro kyun rahi ho? Sab kuch theek hai na?"

Heer nodded her head, "Arey sab theek hai Prem stupid ye to khushi ke ansoo hain."

Prem said wiping her tears, "Women! Tum loog kitne emotional hote ho. Arey haan tum bhi kuch bata rahi ot er. batao kia baat hai?"

Heer said, "Wo main bhool gaye. Tumhare he itni khushi ki baat thi."

The bell rang for the class.

Prem said, "Acha jab yaad aye to bata dena abhi chalo class start hogaye hai."

Heer said, "Tum chalo main aati hun."

Prem nodded and run to the class. Heer stared at his figure until it was disappeared from her sight. She then walked quickly or rather run to the garden. She broke down on the grass and started crying, "Mere pyaar adhura rehgaya Prem ye main kaise bhool sakti hun."

As she cried the flowers started falling down which were already dull as autumn season was here.

Heer entered the class and found Ash sitting on her place with Prem. Her heart ached when she saw Prem smiling with Ash and the way she was leaning on Prem. Heer move to the place where Ash was sitting and said, "Hi."

Prem said, "Hi!"

Heer said, "Ye meri jagah hai."

Ash said while standing up, "Oh I m sorry."

Prem held her wrist and said, "Heer tum kahin aur beth jao roz to mera saath he bethti ho. Ash new hai aur I m jst trying to help her." And signaled her from his eyes to sit somewhere else.

Heer nodded and smiled weakly, "OK cool."

Prem said, "Thanx."

Heer looked allover the class and found a seat empty next to Raj. She sat there and said Hi to Raj.

Raj said, "Hi. Prem tumhara best friend hai na?."

Heer nodded.

Raj said, "Prem is baar us larki ke liye kaafi serious lag raha hai waise both look cute together right?"

Heer looked at both of them and gave a weak smile to Raj.

Prem started spending more time with Ash than with Heer. Heer was sitting in the library and was doing some work. She was so immersed in her work that she didn't realize when Prem slipped beside her.

Prem said, "Hi."

Heer said, "Hi."

Prem said, "Guess what?"

Heer said, "What?"

Prem said excited, "She said yes. Ash said yes."

Heer heart was broken into so many pieces. Tears were ready to flow but she controlled herself. Prem hold Heer from her shoulder and hugged her.

Prem said, "I m so happy Heer. Ye sab tumhari wajah se hua hai tum agar mera saath nahin deti to ye sab nahin ho pata."

Heer smiled weakly and said, "Congratz yaar. Chalo ab is khushi main mujhe treat do chalo uncle ke caf ot er hain."

Prem said, "Heer phir kabhi aj main usay date pe likar jaraha hun bohot kaam rehta hai. Bye."

Heer said , "Bye."

Prem run from the library and she saw him until his figure was disappeared. Her eyes started throwing tears as she remembered all the moments which they had spent together. Heer felt really sad when Prem refused to go to the caf with her and the words echoed in her ears which Prem had told her once.

'Heer agar tum logon se darr rahi ho to mat daro wo tumhein kuch nahin kahenge kal jo hua us main tumhari koi galti nahin hai aur waise bhi MAIN HUMESHA TUMHARE SAATH HUN.'

Heer said, "Prem tum apna promise poora nahin kar paaye."

The class was over and Prem and Ash was coming out of the class together when Heer called Prem from behind. Prem excused himself and told Ash he would see her at the canteen. He went to Heer and said, "Kya hua Heer?"

Heer said, "Prem wo ma ne tumhein aj ghar bulaya hai. Sab tumhari favourite dishes banaye hain wo kehrahi thi ke kafi months hogaye hain aur tum nahin ghar pe aye. She is missing you."

Prem said, "It's so sweet of her but Heer aj main aur Ash movie dekhne jaarahe hain to main nahin aasakte ma ko meri taraf se sorry boldena."

Heer was very hurt; Prem now didn't even care for his Teji ma. In all these months he always refused her but she didn't expect this. Is Ash that much important for him? Heer said coldly, "It's ok Prem. Mujhe aadat hogaye hai. Have fun!" and smiled weakly to him.

Heer left from there and for the first time Prem felt strange.

Heer came to her house and put her things on the nearby rag. She said, "I m home mom."

Teji came out of the kitchen and said, "Agye beta. Where is Prem? Tone usay bataya to ot er?"

Heer said angrily, "Prem! Prem! Prem! Apko har waqt Prem ki paari rehti hai but wo humari koi qadar nahin karta. Bhool jaye usay. Forget him."

Teji slabbed Heer coz of her sudden outburst. Heer was always a good daughter to Teji she never talked to her in such a high tone. Heer touched at the place where Teji slabbed her. She had tears in her eyes and ran to her room and shut the door.

Heer fall down on the bed and cried her heart out, "Meri he galti hai Prem ke maine tumse pyaar kia. Nahin karna chahiye tha mujhe tumse pyaar. Nahin karna chahiye tha."

In this way the whole year passed, Prem unknowingly ignoring Heer and she was always left hurt and it was their last paper of the final year. Heer was coming out of the examination hall when she heard Prem calling her; she turned around and found him.

Prem said, "Hi Heer."

Heer said, "Hi."

Prem said, "To how was your paper?"

Heer said, "Acha hua."

Prem said, "Main bhi kisse pooch raha hun Miss intelligent se, obviously acha he hua hoga aur is baar to mera bhi galti se acha hogaya."

Heer said, "Ash ne parhaya hoga."

Prem said, 'Nahin usay parhate parhaate maine bhi parhlia."

Heer smiled and said, "Kuch kam tha?"

Prem said, "Kaisi baat kar rahi ho Heer main tumhara best friend hun sirf kam ke waqt he baat karunga kia. Wasie ek kam tha kal farewell party hai tu tumhara kam ye hai ke be ready at 8 I'll pick you up."

Heer said, "Sorry Prem main nahin aasakti."

Prem said, "Kyun?"

Heer said, "Main Raj ke saath jarahi hun."

Prem said, "What? Heer tumhein to pata hai na ke har saal main tumhare saath he jaata hun."

Heer said, "Per har saal is saal ki tarah nahin tha. I mean now u have a girlfriend so I thought tum uske saath jana pasand karoge to maine Raj ko haan kardia jab usne mujhse poocha."

Prem said, "Per Heer tum usay mana kardo ke tumhein mere saath jana hai. ot er to maine Ash se bhi nahin poocha."

Heer said, "I m sorry Prem main usay mana nahin karsakti aur rahi baat Ash ki to she is your girlfriend I'm sure wo zaroor haan kardegi."

Prem said, "Hmm but agar tum.."

Heer cut in, "I m sorry Prem main ye nahin kar sakti. Ok main chalti hun ma mera intezaar kar rahi hogy."

Prem said, "Heer ma mera nahin poochti?"

Heer said, "Prem ma samajh gaye hai ke tum unka nahin soochte to wo bhi nahin poochti."

Prem raised his eyebrows. Heer laughed and said, "I am just kidding."

Raj came and said, "Hi."

Prem and Heer said, "Hi Raj."

Raj said, "Heer be ready at 8 I'll pick you up."

Heer nodded and said, "Ok."

When Heer said ok Prem felt like killing Raj, he was jealous and was giving daggers to Raj from his eyes which remain unnoticed.

Raj nodded and went from there.

Heer said, "Ok main chalti hun. Bye!"

Prem smiled weakly and said, "Bye."

Heer was going from there and Prem was looking at her, he felt very weird, he felt like he had lost her, it was when he realized that how less time he had been with Heer all this year. Heer must be angry on him. But this was not all something else was making him sad.

Heer on the other hand was sad of saying no to Prem but she had tolerated enough she didn't want Prem to come with her in the party and go out with Ash and again she left alone, in pain and broken.

Kyu phoolon ke khile khile rang udd gaye'

Both were hurt but were unknown that tomorrow will bring more pain in their lives.

PART 6

Prem was leaning on his chair when his mobile started ringing, Prem saw Preet's number flashing he answered it, "Hello."

On the other side Preet said, "Kia hello PB. Apko ek kam dia hai 6 bajh rahe hain ap jaldi se office se nikal jaye aur Meher ko lene jaye usay apne 7 baje mere paas pohonchana hai."

Prem said, "Mujhe pata hai main bus nikal he raha hun."

After hunging up the phone he rushed outside the office sat in the back seat and told the driver to take him to the hospital where Meher works.

Just to pass the journey to the hospital Prem seemed to be lost in his own world.

~FLASHBACK~

It was a beautiful moonlight night. Prem after picking up Ash had stopped his car outside the hotel where the farewell party was. Prem was wearing a black coloured armaani suit.

Ash before going out of the car took out a book from the bag, "Prem ye book Heer ki hai. Kal wo apna locker saaf kar rahi thi to ye book gir gaye thi jab main usay dene jarahi thi to she was already gone ab tum uske best friend ho to usay dedena."

Prem took the book, "Ok. Ash tum aisa karo andar jao main car park karke aata hun."

Ash nodded and went inside. Prem was examining the book it was a book of management then suddenly a paper was dropped from it. He grapped the paper and started reading it after reading it he was shocked. He thought of talking to Heer about it.

Heer came to the party with Raj. She was wearing a beautiful red coloured anarkali suit. Both came out of the car and were heading to the hotel when they heard someone calling for Heer. Both turned around and found Prem leaning on his car's bonnet.

Raj said, "Hi Prem."

Prem said, "Hi." But his eyes were continuously glued to Heer.

Prem said, "Raj kia main Heer se thori dair ke liye baat karsakta hun?"

Raj said, "Yeah sure. Heer main andar jaraha ot ere baat karke aajana."

Heer nodded and Raj left from there.

Heer said, "Hi. You're looking good."

Prem smiled, "You're looking good too."

Heer was feeling really weird at the way Prem was looking at her. His eyes had questions and something different.

Prem said, "Heer are you in love with someone?"

Heer eyes wide open in shock, "No Prem. Tum aise kyun pooch rahe ho?"

Prem said taking out the letter from his pocket, "I got this from your book and it clearly indicates that you are in love, in love with me."

Heer took the letter from him and looked down not able to look in his eyes, "Prem, Raj must be waiting for me."

Prem said holding Heer's shoulder, "Tumhein Raj ki parhi hai yahan pe main mara jaraha ot er meri dost mujhse pyaar karti hai aur mujhe kuch pata he nahin tha. Batao Heer letter main jo likha hai wo sach hai ya nahin??"

Heer said freeing herself, "Haan jo kuch likha hai wo sab sach hai pyaar karti hun tumse bohot pyaar karti hun itna ke tumhare bina jee nahin sakti, itna ke tumhare liye koi bhi dard bardasht karsakti hun, itna ke tumhare liye hansi khushi apne pyaar ki qurbaani de sakti hun, itna ke tumhare liye apni jaan tak desakti hun. Itna pyar karti hun Prem aur shayad maarte dam tak karti rahungi liken kia farq parhta hai Prem ke main tumse pyaar karti hun ya nahin. Tum mujhse pyaar nahin karte to ye sab jaan kar tumhein kia milega?" Heer was in tears now.

Prem was in tears too, "Kyun itna pyaar karti ho mujhse jabke tum jaanti ho main kisi aur se pyaar karta hun?"

Heer said, "Prem maine tumhein kabhi Ash se pyaar karne se nahin rukha to tum bhi mujhe tumse pyaar karne se nahin rukh sakte."

Heer turned around to leave when Prem called her, "Heer liken…"

Heer cut in, "Prem bohot mushkil se apne apko sambhal paaye hun baar baar toot kar sambhal nahin sakti."

She went inside the hotel wiping her tears. Prem was standing there alone in tears, he was feeling emptiness in his heart, he wiped his tears and followed her.

Heer entered the hotel followed by Prem. Raj came and offered Heer a dance, Heer accepted it. Prem eyes followed her to the dance floor. Heer was dancing with Raj, a wave of jealousy arose in Prem when Raj put his one hand on Heer's waist. She was stealing glances of Prem and was feeling nervous at the way he was staring at her. Prem was fighting with himself he was having different feelings, a feeling of guilt, a feeling of loosing someone, a feeling of jealousy and a feeling of love to which he was still unknown.

Prem smiled weakly and both went to the dance floor. Although Prem was dancing with Ash but his heart was with Heer and his eyes were glued on her. Heer looked at Prem and immediately shifted her gaze down as she was not able to face him. She was looking everywhere but him. Prem was remembering all the moments which he and Heer had spent together that how both were so close to each other and now Heer is not even looking towards him. At that moment how badly Prem wanted to go and hug Heer and break all the barriers between them, wipe out all the misunderstandings and tell her to scold him, beat him but don't ignore him.

Ash excused herself from there as her phone started ringing and Prem started his previous work of staring Heer. Raj twirled Heer and she slipped of her heels and was about to fall down, she had closed her eyes and was ready to land on ground but instead she landed on someone's arm, a warm hand on her waist and when she opened her eyes, she was lost in those dark brown eyes which were speaking of pain, guilt and LOVE. He made Heer stand on her foot and looked at Raj asking for his permission, when Raj nodded, he put his one hand on her waist. Both were lost in their own unknown world.

Prem was looking at them when Raj took Heer to the other side he was feeling like a very integral part of his life is leaving him alone in this world; he didn't know he was having tears in his eyes. He touched the cheeks where the tears were rolling down and said, "Kyun mujhe itna ajeeb lagraha hai? Kyun mujhe jaalan horahi hai Raj ko Heer ke saath dekh kar why I am feeling so lonely and empty? Why? Kia horaha hai mujhe? Kyun mera dil Heer ke paas jaane ko bolraha hai jab Ash mere saath hai?"

Prem came into senses when the driver halted the car in front of the hospital. He came out of car and an unknown feeling crept inside him that a person very close to him is here, he could feel it.

Prem entered the hospital and was looking for Meher's clinic when he saw a woman with a bulging stomach is struggling in picking up some file, although her back was facing Prem but he could make out that she is having a hard time in bending maybe because she is having a very swollen stomach as in she is pregnant. Prem went to that lady and said, "May I help?"

Prem bend down to pick the file. When he raised his head after picking up the file he was hell shock, his body went numb. He said, "H—Heer." This was the only word came out of his mouth which was hardly audible.

Heer's body got stiff, she wanted to run away from that place, away from his sight but her legs refused. She took some steps backwards slowly, she had tears in her eyes and after sometime she walked away from that place.

Prem saw her leaving him alone once again. He wanted to stop her, to talk to her, to say sorry to her, to make her his and gave her all the happiness which he had taken way from her and which she deserved but his mouth went dry, a lump formed in his throat and then she was gone and he again was not able to do anything, again stood as a statue. But then something struck his mind Heer's stomach was swollen like she is pregnant Wait! Wait! Heer is pregnant!!!
