Is Knowing If Baby Is Boy/Girl A Crime?

Hi Everyone,
Being in the US, I am a little confused. Is it a crime in India to check and see if you have a boy or girl?

Kinda yea...i think its cause people go to find out the sex of the baby to see if its a boy or not. If its not a boy, a lot of people go get an abortion which is female infanticide- aborting babies only because they are girls.

I remember that i used to be confused too about why knowing the sex of the baby is bad in India..

this problem is not only in India but i think in other countries were boys are considered to be more important. it is so sad because when there are too many boys then there are less girls to get married with and this is a problem in some places. then people start kidnapping girls etc.
so sad......... 😭 😭 😭
