Like father, like daughter
Kapoor says that he thought she was quite impressive in Teen Patti. He adds, "She is much more natural and has so much more confidence than me. However, in my new play, I am really lucky to be acting opposite Padmini, who is my sister-in-law and it is a lot of fun."
The senior Kapoor also says that it were his compatriots on the screen like Paresh Rawal and Naseeruddin Shah who inspired him to take up acting on the theatre stage. He says, "Look at Paresh Rawal or a Naseeruddin Shah, they are balancing film and theatre wonderfully and have been my real inspirations. Many people learn acting while on the stage. I became an actor first and then had the chance to explore theatre."
Kapoor also hopes that Bollywood stars who have huge fan following in the country should take to theatre to give that much-needed push to the industry. He says, "Unlike the West, people here don't have a strong connect to the stage. Maybe we need actors like Amitabh Bachchan or Shah Rukh Khan to do a few plays."
