Hello Folks! How are y'all...? Got free from my exams a few days back.. and decided to write something again.. it feels like ages since i last indulged myself into the activity.. anyway.. this didnt turn out as good as i expected.. Ah well.. i have been outta practice i suppose.. nothing angst ridden this time.. kept a lighter hand and the result is exactly what i mentioned below.. pointless... honestly i find it that way...
A very pointless OS.
They were walking down the beach, it was late and the moon shined down upon them lighting up their path. As they walked on the cool breeze ruffled her hair and she shivered a little wishing she had bought something with her he saw her discomfort and smiled. Pulling her nearer he wrapped his arms around her.. The warmth from his body seeped inside her and she warmed up considerably "better?" he whispered in her ear. She looked up at him and smiled nodding in the process... "Thanks" she whispered. He merely smiled in response. Slowly she reached out and touched his hair tracing a small circle near his temple. his eyes darkened almost instantaneously with desire and he leant in to pull her in to a kiss that was fiery yet subtle at the same time. When they broke apart a few minutes she looked up at him again… his eyes... she could feel herself getting lost in them… as always his gaze did wicked things inside her. There was a flash of light and the visual changed...
She was standing in a built up area holding a gun in the face of a man. His face was covered and she could only see his eyes he wrapped his hand around hers and fought to take control of the gun... Damini could feel fury rise up in her as she saw that she was loosing... she looked at him and he gazed back at her... his eyes were hypnotizing… she could feel herself being almost captivated by them as though he was mentally instructing her to look deep in to them and almost unconsciously she could feel herself lowering the gun… his strong hold and his intense gaze did something to her… she could feel it somewhere deep inside.. that this man was effecting her… he had lit up something inside her… it was a new sensation… and she was yet to figure out what it was..
Damini Gujral woke up with a start. For some reason she felt out of breath and she was also sweating. Reaching up she touched her forehead and took in deep breaths. Her heart was racing and she couldn't help but wonder why. She had had a dream she recalled. It had been such a nice dream. She had dreamt about Prithvi and her taking a walk down the beach. She could remember some of the details, he had wrapped his arms around her... possibly she had been feeling cold. It was so like Prithvi to remove her discomfort as soon as it came under his knowledge. Her lips quirked up in a smile at the very thought of him. She looked sideways and saw him sleeping peacefully beside her, his face was turned towards her and she reached out to touch it. As she traced a finger across his cheek her mind processed what had happened next. The dream had changed. She had dreamt about her encounter with two kidnappers in a built up area. She had dreamt about the point when one of them had fought with her over the gun. A frown appeared across her face marring her beautiful features. She remembered what she had felt in the dream. The man had been a stranger but she had felt something for him. How could that be possible? Prithvi was the only man she ever felt something for. Then what was this? She didn't even know the man by face. She just knew that he had a very compelling and intense pair of eyes and as soon as she had looked, really looked into them she had felt as though some sort of spell had been cast upon her. She was bewitched. That was the only word for it. But how and why? Did that somehow mean that somewhere she was not true to her husband? She could swear that she loved Prithvi. Sometimes even she was not aware about just how much she loved him. She could remember the encounter with the kidnappers clearly. At that time she had been so furious and angry that she had not given much thought to that tiny incident itself. Almost unconsciously she raised her hand and looked at it intently. How could a clasping of hands do that? Prithvi was the only person who could do that to her. "Maybe I'm thinking too much. I should forget about it. Maybe I misinterpreted my own feelings then." She muttered to herself but she knew she was lying. Gritting her teeth a little she shook her head and laid down on the bed again. She felt Prithvi shifting beside her and looked at him. She looked at his back and wondered whether it would be appropriate to tell him about this. "Maybe not. After all even I'm not too sure about this. Besides it's not that serious." She mumbled to herself. Slowly she edged herself towards him and wrapped one arm around his stomach he felt her presence and shifted again putting an arm around her and pulling her close against him. Feeling slightly more at ease she snuggled against his broad chest and went back to sleep.
The next day was Sunday. The family had breakfast together. Roshni chattered away about her plans for the coming week to her Jeej while he tried his best to look interested but his gaze kept shifting to Damini. She was exceptionally quiet and it worried him a little. He could tell that she was troubling herself over some matter. He went over whatever had happened in the past week, at office and at home but came up with nothing. Whatever it was he would ask her about it after breakfast and try to solve the problem to the best of his abilities. He had a feeling though that she wouldn't confide in him so easily. Ah well Damini knew better then to lie to him. He could read her mind as well as she could read his. Trying to reassure himself a little he concentrated on breakfast only half listening to what everyone had to say to each other.
Damini felt guilty and she didn't know why. It wasn't like she had been involved with the guy. He had been a crook for Pete's sake. But for some reason she couldn't get rid of the notion that in some haphazard way she had been untrue to Prithvi. Technically you didn't even know him when the incident happened. She told herself. But she did know him now. For heaven's sake she was married to him. She loved him. Then why had her mind suddenly decided to conjure up an image of that stranger on its own accord. "Why do human beings even dream" she said out loud as she flickered the page of a magazine a little too forcefully. "Why? are you having nightmares?" Prithvi's voice filtered in her ears breaking into her thoughts. She looked up at once feeling absurdly nervous. She was behaving like a ten year old who had been caught in an act of extreme wrong doing. "No... Not really" she said trying her best to look him in the eye. She knew it was a failed attempt even as she thought about it. There were something's you just couldn't do. Lying to Prithvi was one of them. "Then what? Is it something you are reading? What are you reading anyway?" he said quirking up an eyebrow as he saw that it was one of the magazines Roshni used to read. "I never knew you were interested in make up" he teased slightly as he sat down beside her on the couch and caught sight of the title. Damini smiled. "Trust me I am not. I don't even remember picking this up... "She said her voice trailing off. "Want to talk about it? He said tilting his head a little. "Talk... talk about what?" she said playing with her hands. "Whatever it is that is bothering you." he said. Damini looked up at him. "How do you know that something is bothering me?" she asked in a guarded manner. "The same way I know that I love you." he said without intonation. Damini couldn't help but smile at that. Prithvi Saxena was not the smooth talker. He never had been. When he had uttered that sentence he had not done it as a declaration of his love. He had said it like a fact. The inevitable. Perhaps that was why she loved him so much. "Talk to me." he whispered. Damini absorbed the understanding look in his eyes and somehow she knew that she could. If she didn't now she eventually would anyway. It wasn't like she was going to go to someone else about it.
'I had a dream." she began. Prithvi nodded telling her silently to continue. "I dreamt about.. About us. We... were walking down the beach. And well you know... "She said her voice trailing off as her cheeks reddened slightly. Prithvi looked at her with a mischievous glint in his eyes. " if this is about us doing too much work and not spending more personal time together then we can fix that right now" he said with a teasing edge to his voice. Damini slapped his knee. "Prithvi! You know it's not like that." she said with indignation. "Oh so you mean you don't want to spend time together?" he said trying to keep a straight face. "No... I didn't mean that..." she said fumbling over her own words "then what do you mean Mrs. Saxena?" he said wondering in his head exactly when she would explode. "I dreamt about a man." She blurted out. Prithvi's head jerked up in her direction the smile disappearing from his face. "What do you mean? What sort of a man? And what was the nature of the dream?" he asked his tone serious. "I... did I ever tell you about the time Avni almost got kidnapped?" she asked. Prithvi blinked. "What?" he asked. As Damini recounted the incident Prithvi could feel as though a film was playing over and over in his mind. Of course he knew. He had been there. "I felt something then. When the man made me lower the gun. I felt something. There was... there was something in his eyes." she said her voice lined with guilt. Prithvi snapped back to Earth and looked at the troubled and guilt ridden face of his wife. Almost instantaneously he pulled her close in a tight hug. He could feel Damini shuddering a little against him and he realized that she was crying. 'I'm so sorry... I'm just so sorry..." she said her voice thick. "No... I'm sorry... how... good lord... "He whispered. "Why are you sorry?" she said. "Because... because that man... that was Me." he said letting her go. Damini looked at her husband wondering if he had possibly lost it. "What are you going on about?" she said apprehensively. "That man... the one who wrestled the gun out of your hands... that was me. And the man who tried to kidnap Avni was Sameer. It was one of his hare brained schemes to free our Father…" he said as he narrated the tale to her. Damini listened in shocked silence. She didn't know what to do. She didn't know what to feel. To be relieved that she had after all not 'betrayed' Prithvi, feel foolish over her troubling and guilt, or feel angry at the Saxena brothers. She knew she wasn't angry as Prithvi finished telling her the story. Technically they hadn't even committed the crime itself. Sameer had come around halfway through the execution of his plan and Prithvi had just been there to get his brother out of there. She was immensely relieved she realized. Loyalty to Prithvi was a matter of life and death to her. And she didn't care about how melodramatic it might sound to others. It was the truth. Now that it was gone she realized that a weight had been pressing itself against her chest. Prithvi cleared his throat slightly as she didn't respond. "So what's your verdict, your Honor?" he said clearing his throat again. " so what you are actually saying that I woke up in the middle of the night worrying about a man and spoiled my entire morning over the same issue and that man was you?" she said pretending to be outraged. "Er yes... if you understand English then yes that is indeed what I said." He answered trying not to grin now that he knew she wasn't angry. "Prithvi Balraj Saxena!" she said lunging at him as he got up hurriedly. "Yes wife?" he asked slightly cheekily. "I'm going to... "She began. 'Kiss me? Hold me? Express your deep love for me?" he said. He was getting really good at this he decided he couldn't even dream about doing this with any other girl. And he liked the fact immensely that Damini was the only woman who could do this to him. She walked forward and he retraced his steps hurriedly, as she neared his legs hit the edge of the bed and he toppled backward grabbing Damini along with him so that the pair fell on the bed in unison. Placing one arm around her waist as he held firmly in place he placed a lock of hair behind her ear with the other. "Well at least the problem of all work and no play will be solved now." he whispered huskily. Damini's cheeks turned crimson. "Lord above... you are beautiful." He whispered, as he traced a circle on her cheeks. Damini tried to look away, but he placed a finger underneath her chin and forced her to look up, his lips dangerously close to hers, he could feel her breath fanning across his face and it wild things to his sense of logic and common sense. "So tell me Mrs. Damini Saxena… are you up to something wicked?" he whispered. The Damini Saxena in question of course only got the chance to respond in a different language entirely as the man beneath her sealed the matter with a kiss.
