This winter Shahid Kapoor movies are raining all over. Deewane Huye Paagal, Shikhar and now Vaah! Life Ho To Aisi. Director Mahesh Manjrekar came up with a sensitive Viruddh a few months back. Now with VLHTA he changes gears to come up with a family entertainer by Sangeeta Ahir that promises to appeal to children and adults alike. Starring Amrita Rao as a female lead with Sanjay Dutt as 'Yamaraj', the movie is slated to release this Christmas. The music album has arrived exactly a month before the movie's release and one expects an above average album at the least after seeing Himesh Reshammiya and Sameer on the covers.

Reshammiya's regular Jayesh Gandhi starts crooning in the background before KK takes over the scene in 'Teri Yaad Yaar'. The song in the background is a complete dj vu of number of Reshammiya tunes you have heard, especially 'Nikamma' from 'Kya Dil Ne Kaha'. A night club song that features Shahid Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt together, it foot tapping and highly energetic. The only trouble lies in the fact that it brings to fore 'supposedly' one of the stock tunes of Reshammiya that won't really excite those looking for something new.

A 'Love Mix' of the same track comes in the end that catches up on pace with crooning of the song too happening at full speed. This is the point when one actually feels if the song would have gone an extra distance if it was sung by Reshammiya himself. 'Aashique Banaya Aapne' still looms large over minds and is a hit with all radio stations.

It's the rhythm of the lyrics 'Pyaar Mein Tere' in the namesake track that makes it worth listening. Overall the tune is average with most of the portions being a drag. It is quite surprising as it is sung by accomplished singers like Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal but in case of 'Pyaar Mein Tere' they are not really able to rise above the tune. The song repeats itself as a Sonu Nigam solo in the remix format as 'Love Mix' but not to much avail. Quite ordinary!

With 'Chahenge Tumhe', it is the turn of Udit Narayan to pair up with Shreya Ghoshal for the romantic number that has extremely conventional lyrics to start with. Call it the 'Tere Naam' effect but whenever Udit sings for Himesh, it always seems that the song has been created for Salman Khan. The song has a kind of music that can be considered as a safe bet due to a reliable combination of Indian melody, soothing music arrangements, simple to hum lyrics and a heart warming feel. Himesh and Sameer do come up with a typical song that is sweet, innocent, not at all 'different' from million more such melodies and still works to a fair extent!

Style of 'Aao Twist Kare' combined with the feel of 'Zindagi Ki Yahi Reet Hai' [Mr. India] forms the basis of 'Koi Aap Jaisa' that has Kunal Ganjawala singing along with Madhushree. Jayesh Gandhi provides support in the background for this situational song about living life happily and making merry ever after in the company of your loved ones. Supposed to be a happy-go-lucky song, it follows the tradition of the album so far - nothing chartbusting about it but reasonable at the least!

A song about 'Hey, I am in love with you' appears in the album as 'Dil Ke Maare Hai' that sounds good on ears but that's about it. A love duet by Udit Narayan and Alka Yagnik, it is not a bad hear at all but still frustrates the listener who has been waiting all this while to hear some new tune by Reshammiya. The song is an umpteenth saga of 'Dil Diya' and other related stuff but how one wishes if there was something in the album that would have motivated a listener to go for it.

The longest track of the album, 'Hanuman Chalisa', comes in the end and has a good nine and a half minutes duration. This thumping mix of the sacred chant is sung by Shankar Mahadevan and Ajay and is in fact the second devotional song in row for Shankar whose 'Shree Ganeshay Dheemahi' was incorporated in 'Viruddh' [that was in turn directed by Mahesh Manjrekar]. Both the singers do complete justice to this track that requires a string classical base.

VLHTA is at maximum an average album and lacks a single most track that could make it popular amongst the music listeners. Listen to any compilation of Reshammiya songs from the past and you won't miss giving VLHTA a skip!
