The best way is to take your mind off the thing that dragging you into a state of depression,one can try involving oneself in some outher activities so as to take one's mind off 'that' thing.But its very hard.
Often I would say time is biggest healer,if you stop thinking about that thing too much involving yourself in outher things with time life comes into its normal way.
One should stress on the positive side of things and more than anything you should have a"will"that keeps you going.:)
