How do you get over depression, other than visiting a psychiatrist? Additionally, how to get rid of suicidal fantasies?

try getting together with friends and get into like sports and keep urself busy with things! Hope that helps :)

Without the help of psychiatrists I think the person will have to do some deep thinking about themselves to see if they can understand the root cause of the depression, and only then will you be able to change the behaviour that is causing unhappiness
 
Alternatively confide in a close friend and get another perspective on your situation

Try yoga and meditation. Excercise. But like the person above me said, you ought to figure out the root cause of it and alter your thinking about the problem -- look at it from bigger/different perspective.

You need to believe in yourself and need to gain self confidence in yourself. Firstly solve your problem and seek advise on it from someone from your family or friends or maybe professional advisers can help you out. If it didnt workd then get into things that you like you for e.g. if you like dancing get in to it join classes or if you like music, swimming or whatever you like join classes and then you will enjoy and get over from your dippression and tell it will distract you get yourself busy with it you can ask your friends or anyone from your family to come along with you this will give you a company or if not try make new friends out there.

u shud try confiding in a close friend..or otherwise try to do things u like, and avoid things u don't.

The best way is to take your mind off the thing that dragging you into a state of depression,one can try involving oneself in some outher activities so as to take one's mind off 'that' thing.But its very hard.
Often I would say time is biggest healer,if you stop thinking about that thing too much involving yourself in outher things with time life comes into its normal way.
One should stress on the positive side of things and more than anything you should have a"will"that keeps you going.:)

People think of suicide when they have nothing better to do.
All you need to do is busy yourself with outdoor activities, talk to your friends or divert your mind with things you like to do. And if nothing works then u need counseling.
