Ra. One is an upcoming Bollywood science-fiction superhero film directed by Anubhav Sinha and starring Shahrukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor. The film is reported to have a budget of INR 1 billion, making it the second-most expensive film in India, after Blue, and equaling the record of My Name Is Khan's buyover for the same price. On 10 February 2010 Khan stated on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross that Jackie Chan "has been approached for a role in the film, and hopefully we will see Jackie in the film, also stating that he could not afford him because he is too expensive " But Jackei Chain has still not confirmed about his presence in the film.[4]The film will be produced under Shahrukh Khan's production company Red Chillies Entertainment.[5]

Production

This film will reportedly have "breathtaking" stunts from Shahrukh Khan, which will be for the first time for him. The special effects team is being hired from Hollywood. Khan has already started working out to prepare himself to be able to perform the "daring" stunts for the film. Khan, who is set to go flying in the sky to save mankind in this film, will have to fight with "ten megalomaniac villains, each representing one head of demon King Raavan".[7]

Filming

Shahrukh khan reportedly plays a Miami software engineer Shekhar in the film, who as a video-game hero takes on his self-created techno-monster "Ra.One". Shooting locations include Miami (Florida, USA).[8]Shooting is said to be started in march 2010.[9].

Reportedly, Shahrukh Khan is "gymming" on a deadline. His superhero character in this film has to have six-pack abs and he has to rebuild them before he starts shooting for it next month. Shahrukh Khan had developed his famous six-pack abs the first time for his shirtless appearance in Om Shanti Om. He was unable to maintain it when he underwent shoulder surgery last year. Now, he is back to rebuilding them for Ra. 1. He claims he is almost there and his packs in his lower abdomen are yet to fully develop. He would be ready to go shirtless again in two months.[10]

Shah Rukh Khan has got Hollywood writer David Benullo for his next production, Ra.1, which is being directed by Anubhav Sinha. Ra.1 is an SFX film. Benullo has written the screenplay for Around the World in 80 Days and the script for Hallowed Ground, Cupid and Shadow Man, which had won the International Fantasy Film Award in 2006.

An industry insider said, "Since Ra.1 is not a run-of-the-mill film, it requires a unique treatment. It's has loads of special effects, which is why it will be made differently from the usual commercial Hindi films. SRK wanted a writer who would do justice to the film. Which is why he got David Benullo to work on the script."

"The writer has already started work on the film when he was he was in India recently. He was working from the Red Chillies office. He had several discussions with SRK when he was recuperating after his shoulder surgery," added the source.

Director Anubhav Sinha confirmed the news and said, "Yes, David Benullo is one of the writers working on the script. It's too early to tell you anything more since I can't talk about the film." Sinha refused to divulge any further details. The film is expected to release early next year.

Anubhav will not give away anything. The whole team is sworn to secrecy.

David Benullo roped in for SRK film

Shah Rukh seems to have got a good catch with David Benullo when the latter nodded to be a part of SRK's project. If you still do not know who Mr. Benullo, he is the guy responsible for scripting the screenplay for fantasy flicks like 'Around the world in 80 days,' 'Shadow Man' etc.

The film is titled 'Ra.1' and it will be be SRK's next production. This project sees director Anubhav Sinha calling in the shots. The film is rumored to have a heavy dose of special effects that have not been so far seen in Bollywood films. Grapevine has it that king Khan was looking for a person who would be apt for the script. And if King Khan decides to do something he does it in style.

As the name suggests 'Ra.1' is not the kind of film with the usual Bollywood formula and needs to be treated differently. This project might hit theatres early next year.

One thing is for sure, it will be a pic that will last in our minds long after the credits begin rolling and will capture the attention of the young and the old alike.

SRK ropes in Hollywood director for Ra 1

Now that he is back to work after his shoulder surgery Shahrukh Khan is busy with his next home production Ra.1. King Khan has roped in Hollywood's famous writer-director David Benullo for writing the screenplay of the movie. The movie will be directed by Anubhav Sinha who has directed movies like Tum Bin, Cash and Aap ko Pehle Bhi Kahin Dekha Hai in the past.

Ra.1 will have Shahrukh playing the role of a superhero and thus the movie will have lots of video effects and sound effects. Anubhav confirmed that David was hired so that he could do justice to the script. Ra. 1 could not be dealt like a normal Bollywood movie he added. Ra.1 is slated to release early next year. Well the all the stars want to go to Hollywood but SRK is bringing home a Hollywood director.

SRK ready to play a superhero

The actor has finally agreed to star in Anubhav Sinha's next

SRK is all set to do what Hrithik did in Krrish, and Abhishek did in Drona - to play a superhero.

We have already got a glimpse of SRK in a Superman costume in Om Shanti Om. Now KIng Khan can be seen doing a full fledged role in Anubhav Sinha's next, which is apparently a sci-fi film with lot of spectacular special effects.

A little birdie tells me Shah Rukh has liked the project and is keen on starting the film in September.

SRK was supposed to start Farah Khan's Happy New Year after wrapping up KJo's My Name Is Khan. Since Happy New Year has been postponed now, SRK has decided to start shooting for Anubhav Sinha's film which he will be producing as well.

To know whether Shah Rukh will be able to succeed as a superhero, guess we will just have to wait and watch.

Shahrukh Khan to go the 007 way for next film

Shah Rukh Khan is going the James Bond way for his next project, RA-1, directed by Anubhav Sinha.

A source reveals, "RA-1 is a superhero flick with special effects, gizmos and gadgets just like in 007's films."

The source adds, "SRK will be going a strict diet and wants to get into a killer shape before he begins shooting for RA-1." The film is slated to go on the floors in September. The project was pushed back due to the surgery SRK had to go through for his shoulder in February.

Shah Rukh Khan defers sci-fi film, Ra 1 to next year; reluctant to do heavy-duty action scenes because he is still recovering from his shoulder injury

Shah Rukh Khan is in no mood to take any more chances with his health. His film, Ra 1 to be directed by Anubhav Sinha, will only go on the floors next year as Shah Rukh has not recovered fully from his shoulder injury. As a result, the film will roll in mid 2010 instead of September 2009.

A source said, "SRK has been suffering because of his shoulder injury. He had injured himself on the sets of Dulha Mil Gaya a few months ago. After his surgery, SRK started shooting for Karan Johar's My Name is Khan, which he will soon complete. However, he decided to temporarily put Ra 1 on hold as he is required to do some serious action sequences in the film. SRK decided to push Ra 1 to 2010 after he recently went for a check-up in the US where he is currently shooting for Karan's film. After the check-up, SRK felt the time is not right to do the action film as there is quite a high risk that his injury will aggravate if he doesn't take it easy. Now, SRK has decided to first start Farah Khan's film Happy New Year."

This is the second time that Ra 1 has been put on hold. It was first supposed to go on the floors in February 2009 but was pushed to September due to SRK's injury. The actor was so excited about the action film that he had planned to go on a strict diet to get in shape. Shah Rukh plays a superhero in Ra 1, which is full of SFX and state-of-the-art gizmos just like Bond films. SRK was so excited about this science fiction film that he had even suggested the title.

Director Anubhav Sinha patiently heard us out and promised to call back but he was later unavailable for comment.
