I asked Smita ji, whether a "strong language" rider should be attached to the book so that the little ones on the reading group are not affected particularly; but she seemed to believe that people these days have seen it all and heard it all... So, we decided to maintain the original status...

Is it too coarse for you, Fraeulein??
If it is any consolation, you have Maureen to agree with you all the time, and she'll do in her own way...
(BTW, do you like the story so far?)

"We weren't all brought up in a pigsty."
I used this sentence once in response to a passive-aggressive note put up in the lab... 😛
I totally love this book...

Sure, I've heard worse (in movies) but too much still makes me cringe. I find that folks who use really bad language a lot, have a very limited vocabulary (or may be they have peas instead of brains). So they find it hard to express themselves in proper sentences. I do use shi* sometimes but I catch myself now because my 3yr old niece picked up 'shut-up' really quick and everytime anyone says shi* in the house, my dad says 'where, where?' 😛 😆

To early to say if I really like it a lot... but it's nice so far.

Totally agree with JJ here:
"The trouble with my generation is that we all think we're * geniuses. Making something isn't good enough for us, and neither is selling something, or teaching something, or even just doing something; we have to BE something."

A.) Max sounds like a German name... Is your boss German??

No,He's American. His name is James Maxwell Barnett, so everyone calls him Max.
B.) You aren't going to Paris and Brussels then?? Enjoy Morocco in any case...
Morocco is awesome, just got back from the first session of the conference. Skipping the afternoon one, so that we can go sight-seeing and then clubbing in the night.
C.) We're waiting for your pictures... 😃... and for you to return!
Pictures are in my camera,I spend so less time on my laptop that I just don't find enough time to upload them. but would upload as many as possible or else I can always do them once I am back.

P.S. When u read Clubbing, plz do not mistake me to be a drunkard or whatever. I accompany Max whereever he wants to go. I am not a party pooper 😃 I am more of a non-alcoholic drinks person 😃

Yeah, RW... I agree there are gems in that book... but we ought to wait until the new thread is started before we start with discussing them. In fact, it was the gems in the book that brought Smita ji to change sides to this book. (God knows, we couldn't have afforded a repeat of the Alchemist, with all serious talk about rubbish-things.)

But just for the future... As you read the book, don't hold high expectations from it... it might disappoint, if you do that! :))

No harm in alcoholic drinks either, so long as you slowly sip the one cocktail throughout the night... It is good even: in moderation, the alcohol warms the heart; opens up the high-maintenace people, and if you are judicious yourself, you can also admire how easily people people lose control of themselves when they are drunk... It's all rather good actually.

Is alcohol freely flowing in Morocco? I'd have expected otherwise... but nonetheless, it is good to hear that you're having fun. Just don't trust anyone speaking your language with all your money... 😛

Time travel stories (Dr. Who!) are pretty cool too.

We need comedy on the reading list.. may be a satire?

Ogden would concur if only he didn't have a cold 😉

"Go hang yourself, you old M.D.!
You shall not sneer at me.
Pick up your hat and stethoscope,
Go wash your mouth with laundry soap;
I contemplate a joy exquisite
I'm not paying you for your visit.
I did not call you to be told
My malady is a common cold. " - Ogden Nash

You will really like Artemis fowl...the Percy Jackson series gets better with later books .The artemis series has a better character sketch, and it has quiet a different treatment for a children's book, considering that Artemis is a criminal genius😆

And I was talking to Ekta about how we need more variety in our reading list.
I could definitely do with some comedy.
Do you have something in mind?

Isn't Morroco a muslim country?
They must be serving chai as alcohol
In Egypt they serve pigeon soup as whiskey.
You could smoke a hukkah though.

But Ekta ji be careful ,consult a lonely planet guide before you do anything.
And stay off the drinks ...stick with mocktails..especially of you haven't had one before.
And if you really want to have one stick with white wine.
